Handy site easy to find off the A 90.
Our visit was during August with very few midges and brilliant weather.
A grass field closed in on 2 sides with trees and hedges and a fenced off stream along the other with nice views beyond. Tv signal is good and the sites electrical inspection was being carried out while we were there.
Locally there was a gem of a hotel called the Sauchieburn hotel (massive portions of home cooked food). The Fettercairn Distillery was worth a visit as was Dunottar Castle, just follow the southern coast road into Stonehaven for some beautiful views of the harbour. A little further afield we had National Trust Castles, Ballater highland games, towns and villages for food and fuel. The Coastal route heading north from the site is worth a trip we got as far as Crovie and Gardenstown visiting many hidden villages and fishing harbours. For a longer day out we got as far as Fort George Inverness and the Linn of Dee which was a few miles from Braemar. We will return to use this site again.
Spring Visit
This CL is set in a fairly open grassy paddock with a fenced off stream running along one side. The grass is well maintained, but can get a little soft after heavy rain. There is one hardstanding pitch just outside of the paddock, suitable for motorhomes. The site is easily reached from the A90 between Brechin & Stonehaven. There are walks close by in Druntochty forest and, a bit further away, over Cairn o' Mount and along the North River Esk just ouside Edzell. There are castles to visit at Brechin, Edzall & also the House of Duns at Montrose. There are supermarkets at Brechin & Montrose for those needing supplies & petrol. At St Cyrus there is a nature reserve, and walks along the shore. In all a fine CL, which we will not hesitate to visit again. A bargain at the price of £7 per night.
Beautiful farm cl
We have stayed on this CL on several occasions at various times of the year. It is kept extremely neat and tidy, strong electric supply, we'll stocked information hut, dog walk, large grass area where you can pitch anywhere, face any direction, TV & sky signal are both easy to find. Mobile contact number is available in case of any problems.
Even when full, only about 1/3 rd of the grass area is used leaving excellent visible areas for children to play.
In addition to the grass pitches there is an excellent hard standing pitch, again with electric. It is without doubt one of the best CL's we have stayed at.
