Peace and quiet

A flat-ish field, with plenty of space for 5 caravans. Grass well mown. Ground surface seems firm and well draining. Facilities are a bare minimum, but what more do you need?! The entry can be a little tight with a large car and caravan, and exit is difficult due to limited visibility, There's no mobile signal on EE, and no TV signal that I could find. Machynlleth is just a short drive away. We went for the duration of the Machynlleth Comedy Festival, and we intend to stay here again for the next festival.

Totally awesome 'off grid' experience.

This gorgeous, not so little CL nestled in between hills and a babbling river offers an excellent place to relax. The mobile signal is virtually nonexistent and there is no WiFi, so you have to sit back and enjoy what is going on around you. From the water voles hopping around in front of your pitch, the red kites hovering and soaring above (at one point we saw 12 of them!) to the gentle 'baa-ing' of the sheep in the neighbouring field. You are literally 10 minutes drive from Machynlleth where you have a couple of small supermarkets for groceries and various pubs, bars and bistros for eating and drinking. There are lots of quirky, bohemian shops with some gorgeous gifts to be had. It's also a great base for touring around to Dolgellau, Barmouth, Tywyn and Ynyslas We were lucky to have a mixture of rainy and sunny days on our long weekend stay but the field is well drained and there were no issues with getting off the pitch. Be aware though that the entrance is 'tight' and for the exit you really need a 'banksman' to stop the cars coming down the hill as the visibility is not brilliant and you're going up a small bank to get out. But the owner did offer his services if we needed them, so don't be put off by that! Both owners were lovely, helpful and more than up for a chat if you were, but also respectful of your space and not intrusive This place has just gone into our 'must visit again' site list as we both feel so chilled having been there for a long weekend.

Peace

Lovely peaceful level site where the grass is cut and picked up. River running at rear of site but no worry of flooding. The access is a little tight for a large motorhome. The site is basic but all the facilities are good, we will return when ever we are in the area.

Gorgeous CL

Lovely CL, a big field running beside the river where you're free to pitch up wherever suits. It's a basic site, so it feels easy relaxed and fuss free. The owner is lovely, there to help but equally happy to leave you to enjoy yourself. At £5 a night it's easily the best value for money at any site we've ever stayed. There's a tiny bit of noise from the road which climbs behind the site, but nothing that would cause any great concern. Highly reccommend.

Such a Great site A+++

We stayed on this site for two weeks and enjoyed every minute. The grass was cut short and even the clippings were picked up. Lovely views and a river running by. The site owners were so friendly even taking our dog Rocky for walks. There is a little hut with leaflets, maps etc. We have been to many CL sites and this has to be one of the best. The field is a bit lumpy so we spent a while getting really level. A highlight was watching Mr Evans feeding the Red Kites every afternoon at three pm. My wife and I would love to go to this site again although it's a long journey for us. A+

Favourite site ever!

Idyllic setting in the valley next to the river. Hosts could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Mr Evans made sure we stood in the best position to see the Red Kites feeding, which was the highlight of our holiday. The walk into town along the main road was quite difficult; fast traffic and no pavements. However there are some other lovely local walks which more than make up for this. Stayed here in July 2019.

What a CL site should be, almost back to nature..

First of all, PLEASE NOTE that the GPS location of the site in the 2019/2020 Sites Directory is wrong................. The correct GPS position is 52.58210 -3.82320 Well what a warm welcome we received when we arrived here, mind you it was helped by the fact that Mr. & Mrs. Dia Evans are spaniel owners, as indeed we are as well. The site is a large virtually level and well drained field with the quite adequate waste disposal facilities tucked away not far from the entrance. The grass was nice and short and made even better by the fact that the cuttings were collected as well, so no nasty bits to tread around inside your vans. If you are a dog owner, by taking a short walk back into the village, cross the bridge and then turn immediately left there is a very good walk up and through some forestry commission land, but walking in the other direction from the site isn’t to be advised as there are no pavements and numerous blind bends. The one thing that spoilt our visit was that our neighbour had a small caravan which they patently used for cooking and washing in, as for sleeping, they had 2 quite big tents erected next to it and as for what they were smoking, well it most certainly didn’t smell like tobacco!! Will we be going back again..... most certainly we will because for only £5 per night CL sites don’t come any better than this little gem.

Lovely!

We have just spent 2 weeks at this site and it was most enjoyable and peaceful. Mr Evans checked on the site and its occupants each day and was ready with advice and help if needed. As stated in previous reviews, the site entrance is not as difficult as it may look on Google earth - we have a long outfit and managed it without difficulty. The site is very well kept with short grass. We could not get a TV signal which Mr Evans confirmed and a mobile signal (EE) was only possible in a few places. Sitting in the awning listening to the babble of the river and the sound of the Red Kites was heaven!
