Outstanding place

I had booked this cl on advice of a friend. The remit was: views, walks, wildlife and accessibility for my motorhome to be visited and fixed by a local company - wattsbroken. A service I have used before when visiting the cotswolds. Mike, proprietor of said company had recommended this cl to several customers of his. Well, it delivered on all counts. Shipton on stour, walkable from the site is a gem with 2 pubs and a small shop. The Oxfordshire way is a mere stroll down the, albeit busy road. The views are lovely and the site is huge with really spaced out plots on the immaculatey mown grass. You can choose where to site your 'van as you wish. Bliss. However. Isn't there always one. The weather. It was soggy everywhere. Including this lovely place which is usually well drained. Making its grass pitches normally fine for a 3.5 motorhome. I parked up on arrival and followed the clear instructions to choose my own space. I did, but torrential downpours meant once the van was parked, there it stayed. So, lots of lovely walking whilst the van was being titivated by Mr Watts broken. But on the final night I had to be towed off and saved by the cl owner who allowed me an exclusive pitch on his own beautiful gravel drive, giving me electric and water too. Would I return. Oh yes, in a heartbeat. The road can be a bit noisy at the usual busy times of day. But the location outlays any of that. Happy days.

We loved it.

We loved this CL. It has super easy access, cracking views and the location is great for visiting the local area. The site is large with plenty of space and although it slopes we found it easy to level by pitching with the slope and using the jockey wheel. The toilet is very basic and in a shed that has some quite large gaps in it... this was a bit of a concern for the wife but did not bother me at all. It was strange not to see the owners during our weeks stay which is a first for us but I contacted them by email and always got a response plus their mobile number is on a noticeboard so no big deal. At £17 a night this is up there with the very best value sites we have been to (nearly 60 sites) and I cant wait to go back.

Wonderful views

Lovely spot with great views from elevated position…only there for one & it rained so not able to explore but if all is as good as it promises then a good venue to discover the joys of the Cotswolds

Lovely site with great views and lots of space.

No set pitches, on slight slope and not a lot of shelter but plenty of space and fabulous uninterrupted views. (Very high winds when we stayed but pitched well it wasn’t an issue) Very peaceful site but with easy access from B road, lots of room to turn in. Well cared for simple facilities- all that you need. Warm welcome but not intrusive. Dog walk around the site and lots of places to walk in the area. Loved it and would highly recommend

Good Base for Sightseeing in The Cotswolds

We originally booked for two nights but stayed on for a third. There was no one at the site when we arrived but instructions were well displayed on a board. The site is spacious and well looked after. Good views and the pitches (slightly sloping) were easily identified and neatly mown. The remainder of the site is allowed to run to a wild flower meadow with a neat dog walking path mown around the perimeter of the field. This was perfect for us since we have two retrievers. Being really picky, the two small negatives were some noise from the nearby road (not a lot that the owners can do about that) and the waste water disposal facility. This is a toilet situated outside the WC shed. Lifting up a heavy full Wastemaster container and balancing it over the toilet in order to empty it may be difficult for some. Maybe this could easily be replaced by a ground level drain with cover? However, these are minor issues and wouldn't stop us returning. This is a great site - good value at £14 per night including electricity and with a friendly owner.

Ideal Quiet site, central for Cotswold highlights with friendly owner

This was just an overnight stay unfortunately as we found this CL to be an ideal site for those who cherish quiet, well run establishments. The camping field was open with views extending far to the south a south West, perhaps a bit exposed in bad weather but fortunately for us not on this occasion. The field was close mowed, flat, well drained and had the added benefit of a mowed dog walk all around the perimeter, which was extremely useful. Water and CDP close at hand without being too close for comfort. We can really recommend this site to anyone wishing to tour the high spots of this part of the Cotswolds as it is in easy reach of Burford, Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold and many more places. The owner was very pleasant and willing to spend some time chatting without being intrusive. You are left to get on with your holiday without interference. Good power supply, phone signal, TV etc. We were sorry to leave after one night, but would most definitely come again. A top class CL.

Quiet but not remote

Just come back from a 5 night stay here. We usually stay on CAMC main sites when touring in the UK so for us staying on a CL was a bit of an unknow entity, and because of the experience on this particular one we will certainly me trying out more. We used the site postcode and a sat nav to find the site. We were travelling uphill on station road and site was quite easy to spot on the left hand side with nice wide easy access entrance. Only slight niggle is as already mentioned by others, there are no signs to help finding reception. We asked a very helpful fellow where to pay for our pre booked stay and he told us where to go and what to do. Having announced our arrival and paid our fees we moved across the field to the camping area which is very different to the usual CAMC affair. Basically park up however you like and plug into the electric hook up. More than plenty of space with no pitch limits. One night the site was full with 5 outfits but it did not feel at all busy - plenty of space for everyone to spread out and still enjoy some privacy. The camping filed is very well maintained with short grass and good drainage. We had our fair share of rain and the whole site is grass and never became at all muddy. There are also large areas of grass left to do its own thing. We really liked this as it felt like staying in a meadow. The water supply is nearby and rubbish bins are discreetly shrouded from view. Toilet was a short but pleasant walk along a well mown grass path. Alarm bells rung on my first trip to the loo - its a garden shed - but no need to worry. Its spotlessly clean and plenty big enough so definitely not a problem. Chemical toilet emptying point is adjacent to the shed and outside - this also worked well and was kept very clean and tidy. Also we met the owner a number of times and he was very helpful and helped us solve a problem we had so full marks and thank you. Location is outside any towns but lots of small Cotswold towns and villages within easy visiting distance. Overall a great place for anyone to visit, definitely not just great for couples or just families, we fell this site has appeal for all who like a quiet stay away from the tourist crowds but still want to be able to visit the sights.

summer holidays

just spent two weeks at this C.L. I put five ticks to ease of arrival because its so easy to find and get onto the site , but as for a welcome it was non existing we had to find our way to the pitches, find out where the water taps were, find out where the toilet was, but apart from those gripes its a lovely site, very unusual layout with the actual site the grass is cut very tight and tidy with the remaining grass growing three foot high which was lovely,.the toilet was very basic but clean, its in a lovely position to visit all of the Cotswolds little villages and towns..we would return .

All good.

Relatively peaceful site with an excellent view. Only noise problem was the occasional racing car (or bike) on the fast main road. Our pitch seemed to slope in every direction so needed a ramp on one side and blocks for the front legs. The toilet is literally a garden shed but was clean.  Would be happy to return.

A lovely site

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was a beautiful location and very tranquil. We liked the layout with a neatly mown spacious area to pitch and large unmown areas to encourage wildlife, particularly birds of prey. The owner told us that there are red kites, buzzards and kestrels in the area. We would definitely recommend this CL.
