Outstanding place

Pyrton House
I had booked this cl on advice of a friend. The remit was: views, walks, wildlife and accessibility for my motorhome to be visited and fixed by a local company - wattsbroken. A service I have used before when visiting the cotswolds. Mike, proprietor of said company had recommended this cl to several customers of his. Well, it delivered on all counts. Shipton on stour, walkable from the site is a gem with 2 pubs and a small shop. The Oxfordshire way is a mere stroll down the, albeit busy road. The views are lovely and the site is huge with really spaced out plots on the immaculatey mown grass. You can choose where to site your 'van as you wish. Bliss. However. Isn't there always one. The weather. It was soggy everywhere. Including this lovely place which is usually well drained. Making its grass pitches normally fine for a 3.5 motorhome. I parked up on arrival and followed the clear instructions to choose my own space. I did, but torrential downpours meant once the van was parked, there it stayed. So, lots of lovely walking whilst the van was being titivated by Mr Watts broken. But on the final night I had to be towed off and saved by the cl owner who allowed me an exclusive pitch on his own beautiful gravel drive, giving me electric and water too. Would I return. Oh yes, in a heartbeat. The road can be a bit noisy at the usual busy times of day. But the location outlays any of that. Happy days.

We loved it.

Pyrton House
We loved this CL. It has super easy access, cracking views and the location is great for visiting the local area. The site is large with plenty of space and although it slopes we found it easy to level by pitching with the slope and using the jockey wheel. The toilet is very basic and in a shed that has some quite large gaps in it... this was a bit of a concern for the wife but did not bother me at all. It was strange not to see the owners during our weeks stay which is a first for us but I contacted them by email and always got a response plus their mobile number is on a noticeboard so no big deal. At £17 a night this is up there with the very best value sites we have been to (nearly 60 sites) and I cant wait to go back.

Lovely spot with great views from elevated position…only there for one & it rained so not able to explore but if all is as good as it promises then a good venue to discover the joys of the Cotswolds

Lovely site with great views and lots of space.

Pyrton House
No set pitches, on slight slope and not a lot of shelter but plenty of space and fabulous uninterrupted views. (Very high winds when we stayed but pitched well it wasn’t an issue) Very peaceful site but with easy access from B road, lots of room to turn in. Well cared for simple facilities- all that you need. Warm welcome but not intrusive. Dog walk around the site and lots of places to walk in the area. Loved it and would highly recommend

Good Base for Sightseeing in The Cotswolds

Pyrton House
We originally booked for two nights but stayed on for a third. There was no one at the site when we arrived but instructions were well displayed on a board. The site is spacious and well looked after. Good views and the pitches (slightly sloping) were easily identified and neatly mown. The remainder of the site is allowed to run to a wild flower meadow with a neat dog walking path mown around the perimeter of the field. This was perfect for us since we have two retrievers. Being really picky, the two small negatives were some noise from the nearby road (not a lot that the owners can do about that) and the waste water disposal facility. This is a toilet situated outside the WC shed. Lifting up a heavy full Wastemaster container and balancing it over the toilet in order to empty it may be difficult for some. Maybe this could easily be replaced by a ground level drain with cover? However, these are minor issues and wouldn't stop us returning. This is a great site - good value at £14 per night including electricity and with a friendly owner.
