Ideal for us

Great site ideal for us for visiting family in Woking. Well secure as you are given code for gate on booking. Very flat and nice grass. Can choose pitch. Owner friendly and has time to chat, grass well kept. Large area for exercising dogs or kids to run around in away from the vans.

Very welcoming owner and lovely site!

Helpful welcome from owners when we couldn't find the location - our fault entirely as was well signposted outside, I was just looking at the other side of the road! Mrs Jann kindly came and stood in the road so we wouldn't pass by again. Very handy for Milford station, and a 15 minute walk into Milford - tip take a torch if after dark. Although a pavement, no street lights and the cars do whizz up and down there. Quiet site, nice views, very little road or rail noise. Despite it pouring down most of the weekend, the site remained well drained due to gravel under the grass. Will definitely return again - hopefully in December.

Wet and dry

We arrived in the pouring rain and were slightly concerned about the possibility of the site being muddy. We need not have worried the ground was still rock hard after the prolonged dry spell and even though it rained well into the evening and overnight the next day the ground drained very well and never got muddy at all. The entrance is off a narrow road via two gates the first of which is electric and controlled via a keypad. On booking I had been given the code over the phone but had forgotten it and had to use the intercom to request it. Unfortunately the approach to this gate is short and the delay will leave long outfits projecting dangerously into the lane. To minimise entry delay, don't forget the code like I did. Once through the gate you are into a large gravelled forecourt where we were greeted by the friendly owner who advised he had a tractor in the unlikely event we might find ourselves stuck. The site is located through another gate and although level was a little bunpy. The elsan and water points are well presented and easy to use. I especially liked the boxing in of course gravel under the water points to prevent the ground from becoming soggy and muddy from any spillage. All in all a well presented CL which we will use again especially as the owner advised he will be putting in three hard standings later in the year.

Would definately return

Jeff gave us a very warm welcome on arrival and for the first time with any CL, he actually took time to point out the location of the services. We loved the way that he is very laid back about rules and just invited us to pitch wherever we liked. All the services were clean and very well marked. We marked a 4 for peace and tranquility, only because there is some (slight) daytime road noise. However nighttime was very quiet and tranquil. We also marked 4 for scenery, which some might find harsh, because there are beautiful view, but only as far as the tree line about two or three hundred meters away. I would definitely recommend this sight for it's ease of access, cleanliness and the charm of Jeff and Penny, the hosts. Best regards Bob & Kay Webster

Very nice site

Site just a couple of miles outside Godalming, a nice site very quiet and peaceful. Look out over a field of sheep which is very pleasant. Jeff the owner is a lovely guy he was on holiday his self when we arrived (a friend was looking after things for him) but as soon as he arrived back from his holiday he had a walk over to introduce himself to us and fellow campers and just to check that all was well. Would be more than happy to use the site again, the surrounding area is lovely, Godalming is a very quaint town with a lovely river walk, not to be missed, Dorking is full of antiques shops the only place we went that I would not return to is Aldershot, it is just a very tired looking town (one to avoid) IWe can only say Thank You to Jeff for a very pleasant week.

Perfect for our requirements

We stayed on this site in April for 7 nights whilst looking after grandchildren in Godalming. We were given all details necessary prior to our arrival including instructions for the gate. The site was clean and tidy. I had read the poor review regarding sheep and dog poo. There are sheep which are rotated in the adjacent fields which caused no problems and as a dog owner who exercises dogs offsite and promptly removes any poo which is deposited immediately wherever I am this was due to the dog owner not the site owner. We wanted to stay again in July but they are full.

A warm welcome awaits you at Rakes Corner

A warm welcome awaits at Rakes Corner. Mr Jann the owner was on hand on arrival and enquired daily if he could assist us in anyway. The field is large & flat albeit with a few ruts, it has ample electric hook up points. Accessed via an electric gate. It is within walking distance if the local railway station but having said this we never heard the train once during our seven day stay. There are many local towns, villages & places of interest within a short drive. The south coast is about an hour away. A perfect location for us to facilitate visits to our family living in Haslemere.

Piles of Dog Dirt and Sheep Droppings

Site in rough pasture land, where sheep had recently been grazing with much sheep droppings to pick up on your feet. Level in places, but rutted. Started by picking up loads of dog dirt apparently from next caravan's dog..... but though reported to owner this did not improve including piles left not picked up next to water tap--health hazard. Site not quiet as described. Local road to Milford Station is a rat-run for most of the day and from 5am in the morning until late at night. Owner friendly, but first question was "when will you settle for your stay"---not the best introduction. Electric Gate not efficient, but owner seemed to have amended the problem by the time we left. Reasonably easy to find and directions given by owner's wife were good....don't use your satnav as it will bring you in down a very narrow (and on this occasion icy) country lane. Field easily turned to a red slushy mud when frost melted, which got readily brought into the caravan. Not a good site and the worst CL we have ever encountered. Good for commuters to London, Guildford, Hazelmere and Portsmouth.
