We had a lovely weekend in August,
Friendly owners and very peaceful
Drawbacks were the toilets quiet a walk, no showers which were no problem for us as we use the van showers. There were dog walks but going over sty which is no good for us,
There is the park and ride within 5 mins drive
Would go again
Outstanding cl
They don't get better than this, warm welcome, heated pool, tennis court, beautiful views and riverside walks.look forward to returning many thanks from the Bonney bunch

Rural retreat within easy reach of York
This is a nice quiet site with plenty of space in a large open field surrounded by horses. The site is very flat in open countryside a few miles from Poppleton Bar Park and Ride into York, £2.80 per person and buses run every 10 minutes in summer. We didn't use the toilet facilities but they did look a little dated. The chapel on site is well worth a look and you can walk along the banks of the River Ouse. The site is not within walking distance of a pub. We will return again soon, it's an interesting site.
York Gem.
Two nights at Red House 6&7 May 16. Real gem of a site with a warm welcome. Interesting location with a lot of Equestrian activity gently going on in the background. Charming CL. Give it a try.
In our top 3
Brilliant heated outdoor pool, very pleasant and friendly owners. It is a clean and peaceful setting with good access and large pitches. Some filming for The Darling Buds of May took place here. Close access to Park and Ride into York.

First timers
This was our first time on a CL and we loved it! We have stayed here twice in four weeks and actually met a couple that were there both weekends too!
Lovely spacious field, flat and easy access, and with it being a fair bit off the main road, it ensures a lovely quiet stay! The owner took time out to show us around the equine side which is out of bounds to caravanners and told us loads about the history of the place. Park and Ride is not far away which makes it so much easier to spend the day in York.
We will definitely be regular visitors to this site!!

A Great CL
This CL is exactly what was required by my wife & I for this weeks stay. It lovely & quite & the walks around was just what the dogs loved. The pitches are of a good size & the facilities are close to hand. Would definately visit again, also the Purple Partridge cafe/restaurant at Raskelf was also superb & not to be missed.
Surprising
I did read the reviews so i shouldn't have been surprised but this site is REALLY good. good pitches, well kept site, easy access (although a bit of a distance off the main road to the entrance) and quiet if that's your thing. Good walks a near and if you want to do the tourist thing very close to the park & ride in York.
My only wish (if they want to improve the site) is a better toilet/shower block for the site users themselves. the one on site is functional but i can see it being very cold in winter.
A lovely CL site
This was our first visit to a CL site and it was a great choice.
Easy to get to, just off the A59, a quiet drive down a single track lane which had a few lumps and bumps but nothing to worry about.
We got a friendly welcome when we arrived and shown to a flat field in which to pitch up.
The hookup poles are well spaced, the fresh water is close by as are the recycle and waste bins, there is a nice little ramp to the grey water emptying point and the elsan is easy to get to with it's own water supply for rinsing.
Fresh free range eggs are available to buy.
There is a really old chapel on site which you can access.
The tennis court wasn't open but the pool was and it got used everyday.
the site is a riding school so plenty of horses to look at, there is also the added benefit of a gymkhana on the Wednesday night which we all enjoyed watching.
All in all this is a fabulous site which we shall revisit.
Our first visit to a CL
Being new to caravanning we were not sure what to expect from a CL site but we needn't have worried. This is a spacious quiet CL in glorious surroundings. Visited in May and the bluebells in the woods were a magnificent sight. Swimming pool doesn't open until June but it looked very nice. We watched the horse jumping on Wednesday night which was a bonus. The site is well situated for York, Harrogate and Knaresborough. The approach road to the site is quite long and single track in places but we didn't have any problems with it. The field can become quite wet after heavy rain but it is flat. All in all this is a cracking site at a very reasonable cost. Would visit again
