What a lovely site!

Visited Slate Hall in January 2015 and our first impressions were what a spacious well-presented site which we will definitely be returning to.  There are many sites which are open all year, but unfortunately not all are actually suitable. This site is. Great hard and soft standing plots so really no issue whatever the weather.   There is a water tap next to each electric point which is ideal for Motorhome’s. There is a shower and toilet which are spotless, and there is a heater in each, so even showering on a very snowy day in January wasn’t a chore! Also the elsan point was very good. Husband has asked me to mention that.  There are plenty of public footpaths surrounding the site which we are looking forward to making the most of in better weather.  A lot of which cross open farmland with great views. Which does bring me to comment on the previous post. This is a working farm, which it clearly states…..  Mrs Ramsey was very welcoming, and I look forward to seeing her and visiting this site many more times.

Disappointed

After reading the previous reviews we were very disappointed.  The site was nice and water on each pitch, but... No welcome, the toilet and shower were very dated and cold. No one mentioned the pigs!! The smell was to say the least very strong, good job the weather wasn't very good as it would have been impossible to sit outside and eat. We did have a lot of rain while we were there and although we were okay, the couple along the bottom hedge were very soggy !!

Lovely site

Chose this site for first outing in my new caravan after reading reviews on here and was not disappointed. A lovely quiet site and was easy to find, and access to the site was very wide. I was the only caravan on the grass part of the site, others were on hard standing. Slight slope to field but I chose top half and had the sun on the caravan all day. Spotlessly clean toilet and shower. Taps and EHU on all pitches, but being the first caravan on the grass area I had the choice of where to pitch. Local town few mins drive away with good shopping facilities. A lovely place to just relax or to use as a base to explore the surrounding area.

Peaceful relaxing weekend

It's a sigh of relief when you have a picture of the site in your mind and it turns out to be better than you imagined. well with this site it was just that. The entrance is nice and wide and at the time of the visit during the August bank holiday weekend, the owner was resurfacing the entrance so a slight detour was needed. The site is surrounded by trees to give some shade and shelter from the winds but they are well spaced and we pitched between the trees facing the open fields. The site is very well kept and having the convenience of a tap at each pitch meant no lugging of water barrels. There are toilet and shower facilities on site which were kept clean even though we didn't use them. Friendly owner who allowed us to stay on until late afternoon on our day of departure.

Tip Top

Just returned from 4 nights at Slate Farm where we enjoyed a very pleasant stay. The camping field is big and spacious with a tap at each hook up. The shower is clean and hot and roomy enough for the kids. A bus stop is very close, but the bus service is very limited. All in all a very nice site. For anyone with children, there is a very good play area behind the village hall 5 minutes walk down the hill.

Beautiful spot!

What a beautiful area this is. Essex is a much maligned county! The site was neat, quiet and surrounded by lush green fields. All the facilities were clean and easy to access. The picturesque Suffolk villages of Clare, Cavendish, Long Melford and Lavenham are within a short drive away to the East and the town of Saffron Walden to the West with its maze, art gallery, museum and Town trail. A very short drive further and you come to Audley End House and the small railway opposite, great for children.

Lovely, clean site.

We stayed here in early October on the hard standing area which was ideal. The site is lovely with plenty of electric hook ups and plenty of water taps around the field. Toilet & shower are the cleanest we have seen on a site so far and the owner was very helpful. One downside is that pigs are kept on part of the farm which was a bit whiffy when the wind was blowing in the direction of the site! Overall we enjoyed our stay but please note this website states £10 per night when in fact it is £12.
