Lovely weekend

Slate Hall is a lovely little CL site. The caravans are nicely spaced out on the field and there is EHU and water direct to the caravan. The views are to open countryside and the field is flat and mown. There is a shower and toilet that are both clean. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The village of Helions Bumpstead is picturesque but there is no local shop and the pub didn't look great. There are two pubs 3 miles away in Steeple Bumpstead that serve great food. We would definitely visit here again.

Nice site but!!

We spent 3 nights on this CL on a working farm (pigs) which is in a lovely area ,with great views from the grass and a couple of the hardstanding pitches, EHU and a water point to all pitches, some aircraft noise from Stansted at times (not intrusive) the thing that let it down when we were on site with several others ,was the condition of the Shower and Toilet, which all the time we were there and possibly before we arrived, had not been cleaned which was very evident with old dust/cobwebs and full bin in the toilet, and a towel by the hand basin that was not what i would want to use

Lovely site in the middle of country

Lovely site with welcoming hosts. On the back of a working farm, the views from the pitch field are amazing. Walks literally everywhere, and a pub very close by even though we've not tried it. Water and 240v at every pitch which is handy although we're used to being self-sufficient. There's only one toilet and shower, which is 50p meter job, but didn't use either. We're used to £6-7 pn sites with no facilities but we couldn't find any open at the time of year around here so came here. We only use about £1 of gas on a no-facility site so the price difference doens't work out. Having said that, this place is lovely, and if you need hook up and constant water then this is perfect. Loads of lovely little villlages close by and Saffron Walden is only 25 mins by car. There are so many walks here you could spend a week and not repeat.

Lovely Slate Hall CL

This was our first caravan holiday and unfortunately we chose a very wet weekend to stay at Slate Hall (Easter 2018). Even though it was incredibly wet, Slate Hall has hard standing areas and we had the whole site to ourselves. We downloaded the pdf directions from the site and it had directions to the wrong destination! We rang and spoke to Rosina who was very helpful and gave us the correct postcode (thankfully!). On arrival we were greeted by Mike who was friendly and helpful (offering to reverse our caravan in for me!). Shower and toilet area were very clean although maybe the shower head could do with replacing or there was a lack of water pressure. This didn't ruin our stay though and we had a fabulous time and we were really pleased we chose this site as our first holiday. (ps great location for dog walkers... the walks along the river Stour are lovely!)

Top Notch

Recently spent a few nights here, and would quite happily have stayed a lot longer. Small amount of aircraft noise from Stansted, but so unobtrusive I had to point it out to my Mrs. Beautifully kept pitching area with enough room for a dozen vans or more, so everybody gets plenty of space. Great views over adjoining farmland and plenty of dog walks nearby. Lots of small towns and pretty villages within easy reach, with all the shops you might need (in particular, a little independent wine shop on the road towards Clare-highly recommended) All in all a wonderful little site, and if we're ever in that area again I don't think we need to consider any others.
