An honest Review

Having been attracted by the other reviews we were slightly disappointed overall. Pam and Geoff Horton-Jones were exceedingly friendly hosts. The main criticism is around the shower and toilet facilities. The shower cubicle door did not close easily and there is a 6 inch gap above the central walls which does not give a feeling of privacy when showering or using the toilet facilities. This meant that we used our van shower each day. My electric hook-up had to be connected across the width of the site as there are insufficient hook-ups on the one side of the site. This meant that the cable had to run under the awning groundsheet. Not ideal.  I have tried to give a fair reflection of our two week stay. If the shower and toilet issues could be sorted then we would probably go back.

Beautiful

We received a most welcoming pot of tea on arrival and can only say what a lovely couple Pam and Geoff are. They were very informative of local walks and pretty lanes, even provided us with information from the internet regarding the Welsh Country Show and gave us instructions on the route.  There was plenty of information regarding "What's on" The toilet and shower block were kept lovely and clean. We had a wonderful holiday and would not hesitate to go back to is lovely CL. Thanks so much Pam and Geoff for a lovely holiday.

WELL LOCATED BUT

in line with other reviews I would endorse that the tray of tea is very welcome after a long journey. With the ever changing climate and caravan seasons getting longer, hardstandings are definitely the way forward for Cl sites that are able. However, on this site, pity the visitor who draws the “short straw” and gets pitch 5 up the corner on a field which after only a short down -pour does not drain. You are almost guaranteed to bury your vehicle as happened during our stay. There is also a major issue with the electric supply on the site with disruptions to all pitches on a monotonous and regular basis. This then involves finding the owner to reset the trips in his garage who then insists that the “modern caravans” are at fault and not the supply. At the same time, due to the lack of supply bollards, it seems to be acceptable to have 75 feet of electric trailing cable across the field complete with socket joints left lying in wet grass. I would not be comfortable in letting my children play out here.

A treasure

What a lovely welcome - the offer of cup of tea, you are really made to feel at home. The site and facilities are beautifully kept.   The Begelly Arms at the end of the lane serves good reasonably priced food. The bus stop for Tenby and Saundersfoot is a short walk away and the driver dropped us at the top of the lane on the way back. Would definitely stay again.

Wish all CL's were as good as this one!

Just back from 10 nights stay at The Gatehouse. Jeff & Pam are such nice people. The location is spot on and so handy for exploring Pembrokeshire, Caramarthen etc and Saundersfoot and Tenby are just down the road as is Wisemans Bridge beach. The pot of tea upon arrival was most welcome after our 3 1/5 hour drive to the site. Good for dog walking, all the local village shops and services were great and the Co -Op supermarket was very handy. We enjoyed our stay and came home nicley tanned and relaxed. This is a gem of a site!!

Extremely Welcoming Couple, Lovely Stay!

I have just returned home from my 3 night stay with my two young children. My husband towed us to the site and we were met with a lovely cup of tea on arrival. As it was my first stay on my own as hubby couldnt get time off work, I felt extremely safe on the site as it's very private and very peaceful. Pam and Jeff were very helpful directing us to the pitch and providing extra long hook up cable as ours wasnt long enough. The location of the site is perfect for those visiting Folly Farm and a short drive takes you into Tenby. There isnt a park on site however there is one at the bottom of the road which is within walking distance for two young children. The local pub, Begelly Arms, just a stones throw away also served lovely food and catered for children very well! I would recommend this site and I will definately return again!!

First Class

We,ve just got back from a great week with Pam and Jeff at Gatehouse. Secluded site but ideally located for visiting local attractions. Facilities were basic but more than adequate and spotless. We had initially booked for 4 nights but ended up staying all week. It was the calm before their storm and we were lucky to have the site to ourselves for 4 days, bliss. Jeff is a mine of information and nothing was too much trouble. A pot of tea on arrival was most welcome while setting up and an extra hook up cable was waiting for us in case we didn't have a long one. Pam, your sloe gin was delicious. I can readily recommend this dog friendly and people friendly CL. We will go back, thank you.
