Lovely little site

Just returned from a lovely weekend at The Paddock, nice little site, very peaceful, lovely to see the horses in the paddock. Close to Halstead and Long Melford. Will definitely return.

October weekend

We had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend, with the entire site to ourselves. A lovely setting, great location, friendly hosts. The lake was lovely to walk round with the dogs. We will definitely be back.

Glad we came

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - Thursday to Tuesday over the Bank Holiday weekend. Delightful spot and had a great position at the lower end of the field; lake is a real treat for early morning (and anytime!) dog walks. Jason and the dogs made us feel very welcome, beagle and all. Local trips when we could raise the energy; Lavenham farmers market is worth visiting, Cox's Farm Shop Cafe over the road does good coffee and scones etc. Our visit was entirely goose-free but we did hear the music once, plus the road traffic and planes lining up overhead for Stansted - none of it intrusive enough to put us off. Try it, think you'll like it!

Unfortunately the description given by the owners

We visited this site recently and stayed for a few days. I am afraid to say that I have to agree with everything that the previous reviewer has said. Having read the description of the site before booking it I expected much more. In truth the goose poo is everywhere and you just can't avoid it. Even if you try and clear it from around your van it will be back the following day.The road noise is considerable and we were also treated to loud bass music from what we believe was a nearby industrial unit. The access will be an issue for anything other than small vans as has been said, as the rear of the unit will be left protruding out onto the road as you wait for the gates to open on what appears to be a fast cut through for local traffic. It is also worth mentioning that the mobile signal is extremely poor to non existent. All in all a disappointing stay which is a shame as the owners description promised so much more.

Response from the Club:

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate all comments, whether positive or negative, as they help us improve our services.
We understand your concerns regarding road noise. While we acknowledge that there may be some level of noise, our CL adviser who regularly checks the CL Site believes it is not to the extent that it would cause major disturbance. Nonetheless, we are sorry you felt it disturbed your enjoyment of the site but hope you are reassured by the other reviews that have also expressed it has not been an issue for them.
Regarding the issue of music being played, the CL Owner has advised there were 3 days when some workman were in a field opposite. If you had spoken to the CL owner that it was disturbing your stay he would have made enquires and stopped it.
As for the presence of bird droppings, we recognise that the beautiful natural environment surrounding the site's establishment may attract birds, making it challenging to completely eliminate this issue. In this case they had a flock off 30 Canadian geese visit the lake. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Mobile signal on the site is not always available as it's in a rural location. However, the CL Owner does advise guests to walk up their drive to get a signal.
We hope this has helped address your concerns.

Disappointing

Recently visited this CL and would make the following observations, in case they might assist others when thinking of using it. Firstly the access is not easy, off the lane, but a gate with a code not far enough back for you to get your outfit off the road, which is on a bend and narrow, so rather dangerous. On arrival, only two sets of electric points, one of which is broken, which makes it limiting in siting the van. The most disappointing thing about the site is that it is absolutely covered in goose Pooh, and I mean covered. You will walk it into your van, awning, car etc, it’s everywhere. The geese wander up from a rather overgrown lake at the end of the CL. In addition the site is in a triangle between two roads, and is therefore quite noisy, certainly not a peaceful spot, as the local boy racers seem quite enthusiastic in their use of the roads around the site. At £25 a night it’s not cheap for what it is, and I for one certainly would not return.

There are 2 hook up points, one with 2 x connections and one with 3 x connections. Just one connection had been blown by a previous visitor, leaving 4 still working.
With regards to the lake, our CL Inspector has advised that it has always been a peaceful clean area to sit and enjoy a picnic,so we are sorry that you didn't find it so. .

Cracking 3 day break

Just had 3 beautiful (February) days at this cracking site - Sophie and Jason are lovely people and always on hand checking you are OK. Super base for getting around, we walked 28 miles around Sudbury, Clare, Lavenham and Long Melford, all within a maximum 10 mile drive - lots of circular walks and maps readily available on line or at visitor centres etc. The King's Head in Pebmarsh have a pie and a pint night on a Wednesday - excellent. Stacks of space on the site and very peaceful.

Great CL

The site is beautifully kept by Jason, our host. He was on hand to check everything was was ok and that we were enjoying our stay. The fishing lake is a wonderful place to stroll around or to sit and relax. We were also allowed to use the little row boat, great fun. Flora the horse made an appearance each evening and she's a beauty. Two good pubs in walking distance (or by car) and a lovely farm shop/cafe. Highly recommend this site if you're travelling that way.

Perfect site! Daniel and gemma 27-31may 2021

Amazing little but big site, our second visit here and again Jason has gone above and beyond to accomadate  us with a warm welcome. A very secure safe site with everything we need, with lovely views either over the lake or up the field at the paddocks. our daughter loves the horses, fishing on site, and walks from it too. Cannot thank Jason enough as bailed us out a slight tv issue. We will certainly be returning again!!
