Great for a stop over on a long trip

We stayed for one night on our long journey up to the Highlands of Scotland. The site is easy to find and just off the main road. We were made welcome by the owner as she was there when we arrived. As it is a rural site and we visited in early August the tractors and farm machinery were pretty busy but although they were noisy we still had a very peaceful night and woke to see the barn owl hunting in the opposite field. We will certainly use this site again.

Great little site

We stayed here in July 2015 and would definitely return. We had a lovely meal, good beer and an excellent welcome at The Plough in the village, its an easy walk but make sure you book because they get very busy. We caught the bus into Newark. You need to ring up the bus Co (Travel Wright) to ensure that the bus comes to the village. There is a stop near the CL as well as one near the pub. Taffy at the small village shop is a mine of info.

The village field

We stayed at this CL for the weekend and had a lovely stay. It was really peaceful and the only noise was a few cows in the adjacent field with the occasional moo here and there. The only thing to bare in mind here is the signage on arrival, could be much better. There is a caravan club sign on the left hand side of the entrance, part obstructed by the hedge, then you draw upto a pair of green metal gates, its not till you go through the gates and to your right, read the notices pinned on the shed wall next to the water tap that you know your in the right place. Just a small sign on the gates is all that is needed. To sum up, very nice and plesent stay with very nice food at the local pub down the road, walking distance away. We will visit again.

Rural tranquility

Had an overnighter here on way to Northumberland. Easy to find from A1 - about 10 minutes. Very peaceful site. Going to book in again for our return journey! Only downside was the long grass! Had a super meal, great value pub grub in the Plough in the village. (Do book though as it gets very busy Fri/Sat) That said the lovely landlord managed to fit us in. All in all highly recommended CL.

Village Field

We stayed for six nights on this lovely little site last month, and enjoyed the peace and quiet, the cattle in the next field, a very nice village with friendly residents, a really good local shop selling local produce, and yes, the bakery items are particularly good, and enjoyed a delicious fish and chips meal at the pub! Would stay there again!

Lovely, peaceful site.

We stayed on this Cl site for almost three weeks. The site is well organised with all information readily available. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. The field, with electric hook ups are clearly organised with plenty of space between vans.  The field is well kept and private. It was lovely to watch the Dexter cattle, rabbits and pheasants in the adjacent field. The village shop 5 mins walk away is very friendly, useful and stocks everything ,including local bakery items which were very tasty! There is a local pub, open lunchtime and evening. Newark town is 15 mins away as is Southwell with a beautiful Minster. I would recommend this site and would happily spend another three weeks there next year!

We have been to the site 3 times now.Its a lovely peaceful site with views across fields and village.Ten minute walk to pub which has always been friendly.Yes basic facilities but always well kept, but what do you expect for a cl site that costs £10 a night! Spacious camping field that has more than enough room.Very quiet lanes for cycling and walking. All in all a great little site Paul & Jenny

Small, quiet CL, perfect for one night stop over or more.

Small, compact site. Has basic facilities - electric, water and waste disposal. Close proximity to A1 but no traffic noise heard during our stay. Detailed information including payment procedures, local Dr's etc all located on shed at corner of field. Nice to see a CL that was sticking to the 5 van rule!

A GOOD BASIC QUIET SITE

Stayed at this cl a few times now and its clean and tidy and very quiet. The site is close to the A1 but you would not think so as it is in the countryside surrounded by farms and small villages. The local pub which is less than a mile away does great food and 2real ales and has a very friendly landlord. The local shop is small but well stocked and less than 0.5 mile away from the site. The owner of this site is very helpful and is friendly with a good knowledge of the local and surrounding areas, I must say this is a good site for relaxation or if you want to visit a town Newark is only 10mins by car

A good overnight stop

We stayed here for one night in our motorhome. Basic facilities. Very near to the village, shop and post office. We noticed that there was a bus service to nearby towns/villages, if needed. We didn't see the owner, but were told to put the payment for the night in the box by the gate.
