Ty Cerrig

An excellent CL - winter or summer.  I was warmly welcomed by Myfanwy.  I'd been up Cadair Idris in the snow and so the shower was most welcome.  It has the best hot shower/ loo of any CL I've visited.  It's much more like a warm bathroom than the usual concrete efforts.  Love the area but I've loved it since I was a student in Wales in the olden days.

Have visited this site several times and will be returning this year.  Brilliant if you have dogs, facilities excellent.  The surrounding scenery is breathtaking.  Well done Myfanwy and John! Springerman

Peace and tranquility

We shall be visiting for a second time due to the friendly and welcoming reception from the owners. Along with some of the best scenery in Wales. The facilities are some of the best we have used.

One of our favourite Cls

This is our second visit to Ty Cerrig, the first was in February. It is a stunning spot next to a lovely farm with a burbling brook and the walking is fantastic, though steep. Myfanwy always makes us feel extremely welcome and at home. Our two labradors loved it here too, though they got very excited about all the sheep around us. Excellent for stargazing on a clear night as it gets very dark at night-time. We will be back!!

A wonderful site

This is a great little site. We stayed here for 12 nights and Myfanwy made us most welcome, her baking should not be missed. Internet access was fine at the picnic tables and shower block near the house. The site is very well maintained and the scenery is great. Excellent walks from the site and in the area. Will certainly be returning. Thanks for a great holiday.

Welcoming and beautiful

A lovely welcome and a relaxed site. Perfectly situated for us although sadly we did not enjoy the walks we had wanted to due to relentless rainfall. (it is Wales after all)! So much rain the beautiful stream turned into an even more beautiful raging torrent. Stunning views, we loved the planes coming off the Mach loop and convenient having satellite access (don't forget your box and lead though). Likewise if you just want peace it's there. My advice is in torrential rain it gets very waterlogged so maybe take a duckboard. Also tropical strength insect repellent for the clouds of midges and you won't go far wrong. Must be gorgeous in the sunshine!

Good and Bad

Firstly we found the site very difficult to find as signage is scarce and well hidden. We were not the only ones as others on the site said the same. It's in a beautiful spot with a beautiful babbling stream running through it and lovely views. Myfanwy is a great host and very helpful. However, we were disappointed as you can only get Wifi if you go up the hill near the house so cannot get it in your van. Also we didn't have the correct ariel so were unable to get any TV. To be fair we did borrow a box and lead but were still not able to connect to the dish on site. As it was summer and light until late it didn't bother us too much but had it been another time of year we would have wanted TV. I had also chosen the site as it shows it has a washing machine and after 2 weeks away already, I was needing to do some washing. However, it was not available and although Myfanwy did offer to do a load in her own machine for a small cost, I would rather do it myself so had to find a laundrette.

Simply, One of the Best

We chose this site as part of our tour of North Wales this year. Booking couldn't have been easier, all done via email. Finding the site from Dollgellau was easy, and access from the main road is good.  The pitching area is slightly sloping so we had to use blocks, but the grass is cut short and the cuttings collected. There are 3 water & electric points well spaced along the pitching area and the CDP is in the next field, complete with tap for rinsing. There is no normal TV reception, but bring a lead and box  and connect to the Freesat dish at the points on the EHU. There is a shower and toilet next to the farm along with an information room and Myfanwy's cakes, eggs and jams for sale. Myfanwy was very welcoming and advised us of all the best walks from the site. We did a lovely 3 mile circular walk through the forest behind the site. The site is fairly remote, but is just off a main road so public transport is available, the nearest shops etc are at Dollgellau. We liked the town and stopped off at The Royal Ship for a meal, the dog was made welcome too. The views from the site are lovely, and the peace and Quiet was only shattered when the RAF planes flew up the valley. We found lots to do in the area, and hope to return to this site next year. I would point out that although children are welcome, the stream which runs along the site is not fenced off and parents would have to keep a close eye on younger children.

Everything you want in a CL

We have just returned from a lovely stay at this CL. The site is easy to access, immaculately kept and in the most beautiful location you can imagine. Myfanwy greeted us on arrival and was the perfect hostess. Having a water tap next to the van was a treat. The scenery is so spectacular and huge sandy beaches are not too far away. We didn't find much in the way of local eating out places so be prepared to travel a bit if you are not self sufficient. Our two spaniels thought that it was heaven. The walks from the site were perfect for them and we found lots of dog friendly beaches too. A great CL that we thoroughly recommend.
