Sheer Heaven

We love to come to Ty Cerrig because it is sheer Heaven. We always get the warmest of welcomes from Myfanwy and John who can't do too much for us. We enjoy the beautiful views from our pitch and the facilities are all excellent. There are wonderful walks from the site, some more strenuous than others. It is an excellent starting point for climbing Aran Fawddwy, the highest mountain in southern Snowdonia.

Missing Wales

Desperate to return to this lovely site, we have been visiting for over 6 years. Myfanwy and family are a delight to deal with. In these hard times farmers are not only dealing with their own issues as well as facilitating holidays for those who cannot go abroad or get to the big sites due to reduced numbers. Not sure about the negative review, but at least this means there will be more space for those who appreciate the hard work of the farmers trying their hardest. CL - Constantly Lovely.....

Crowded Location

At Ty Cerig CL stands for Crowded Location. Arriving expecting 2 pitches for ourselves and friends, only 1 pitch was available as there were then 8 vans then on site. We were given effectively one pitch in the corner with our friends pitched at a significant angle making awning erection difficult and our awning guy ropes overlapping. Pitching so close together was not an issue for us but from a CAMC Health and Safety perspective; the fire risk is not in keeping with their ethos. Having been on site for 3 hours we approached the owners as we had no electricity and a freezer full of food; the nearest point to us already had 3 cables plugged in having had a splitter plugged into one of the points allowing 2 caravans to be plugged into one port and our friends plugged into the other. Myfanwy’s first suggestion was to wait until the caravan beside us left the next day to plug in which wasn’t acceptable, she then suggested that I unplug the caravan next to us which again wasn’t acceptable, so she unplugged them and fetched another splitter so that we also could plug into the same port as the caravan beside us. Online information states good tv reception, a tap per pitch and WIFI, again none of this is correct, we could not use the tap adjacent to us as somebody else, believing the online information had plumbed their van into that tap so 4 vans ended up using the one tap. There is no tv reception whatsoever however the owners provide you with a box to plug into a Satellite dish, although they only have 5 boxes (which would be correct if only 5 vans were on site). We were initially offered one box between 2 vans however the lead was too short to connect as we were all on one pitch and just a little too far away and wouldn’t work for all, as the connections needed are HDMI and SCART that not everyone has; none of this was in the online information. There is no WIFI however there is a good 4G signal. No disrespect to Myfanwy but she could not comprehend any of the above as issues and didn’t apologise believing she was doing everything to help; her only advice was to find another site, which we certainly will do in future. One morning there were just 5 vans on site but back up to 7 by that afternoon and the gentlemen in the van next to us told us that he’d rung at the last minute to book to be told, ‘well I shouldn’t, but I can squeeze you in’, thus proving the point that the owners knew they were breaking the CAMC CL rules. This is also against a background of increased social distancing requirements presently. Finally, the chemical waste point was a Health and Safety hazard with a 2 foot diameter pipe in the ground, covered with an incinerator lid which exposed an 8 foot drop directly into a sewer system and was wide another for someone to slip into and the approach to which was on a mown grass slope which was constituted a serious hazard especially when wet. Therefore perhaps CL actually also stands for Catastrophic Latrine.

One of the Best!

We had the most relaxing weekend here at Ty Cerrig Farm. The Site itself has the most fantastic views, its lovely and quiet, and so welcoming. We where met by the owner who gave us some local advice on places to visit, also a Sat cable and set up for our TV to work. The stream that runs through the site is lovely, my children loved playing in there. The Area is great for walking, and also close to local shops. We Loved it here, and would certainly like to return for longer next time.

Wonderful C L!

I’m reluctant to say too much about this site as I don’t want hoards of people overwhelming what is a really gorgeous, tranquil place to stay! We spent 9 nights here this week and it was just excellent. When we arrived John came with our box of tricks for the Freesat TV and helped us set up. There is water on every pitch and hard standing for 3 units. The dustbin/recycling area is nicely set up and in good weather there is a fire pit and table for eating out! All the sanitary facilities are kept scrupulously clean and sanitised in these exceptionally difficult times. We had a fabulous time walking in the area, in Coed-y-Brendan National Park and in the surrounding area. There are walks from the site on the Mary Jones way and various forest tracks for mountain biking. Dolgellau has a couple of small supermarkets. We would most definitely return as we love Snowdonia and this is a lovely CL to use as a base for visiting the area. Myfanwy and John could not do enough to ensure our stay was one of the best on a CL that we have experienced. Thank you!
