Nights In The Long Grass

A spacious site a short way down a bumpy track. There is electric available but £5 a night, a bit steep in the summer. There is a rather ‘rustic’ shower room and toilet, this is also extra, £1 tokens. Unheated. It was kept very clean during our stay. The time purchased is not nearly enough to wash ones hair (according to my wife, I don’t have hair so not a personal concern). So £20 a night becomes £27 for an average couple. Not a cheap CL compared to others we’ve recently visited. We did enjoy the area. It’s a steep descent 1.5 mile walk to the beach. Too much for my wife and I certainly burnt a lot of calories on the return climb. But Pendine and Lauharne are lovely places to visit and not too far. The field itself is the only reason we we would not return. The grass had been cut sometime previous to our visit, the farmer leaves the grass cuttings where they fall. It looks a mess and the at least 100 yd trek across this vitual hay field on a dewy morning to the toilet shack means your shoes, socks, trouser bottoms are cakes in old decomposing grass. Our carpets were soon covered and a lot of time was spent trying to keep it out of the van and cleaning it off our shoes. The grass (living) must have been a foot high by the time we left.
