Brilliant site

Best CL I have ever visited. The whole site is immaculate from the even hardstanding fully serviced pitch to the walks into the woods. There are beavers in the ponds and the site has lots of squirrels and woodpeckers. The owner was superb who empties the bins every day and mows the grass on the pitch as soon as you leave so it is ready for the next caravan. I would highly recommend this site.

Possibly the best CL on the network

Having been members for 45 years we have stayed on lots of CLs and become quite discerning about standards. We stayed at Venn for 19 nights in May before moving to Cornwall (should have stayed at Venn). One of my criteria for judging the interest and commitment of the owner is the wc emptying point this one is as good as they get, stainless steel purpose made and it reflected Andy's genuine commitment. The site, walks, wildlife are all as other members have stated. £13.50 per night for a more than generous hard standing, fully serviced pitch with free WiFi is quite frankly ridicously cheap . The one and only downside for us the fact it is 300 miles away, otherwise we would be there every month! Thanks Andy we had a truly wonderful stay.

Best CL we have ever stayed on

What a little gem of a site. Large, level pitches. All hardstanding and fully serviced. Peace and tranquillity day and night. Excellent dog walks from sight. Very warm welcome from owner. Always there to help if needed. Little village St Giles on Heath just 2 miles away, has village shop and village pub (Pint and Post) serving excellent food. This is such a great site why am I telling everybody!!!! Just one note of caution, sat navs do not work around the vicinity of Launceston! Motorhome owner

A Little Piece of Tranquility

We have just spent a couple of nights at this lovely cl site and a bonus of waking up to a lovely blanket of snow, which made walking through the woodland walk even more picturesque. Andy was very welcoming and checked to make sure we were ok. Very flat spacious pitches. The wildlife was amazing especially the bird feeder.. woodpeckers were a frequent sight. The Beavers have been busy and built 2 amazing dams. there tail trails were easy to see in the snow as well. Looking forward to visiting throughout the year.

Superb CL 🤗 5*

We had booked our stay at Venn Farm, a long time before going. We chose the site, because of the location, as well as the Woodland Walk-because we have a pack of dogs.Sadly, the summer being so wet, left the land-all over-very wet, but I spoke to Andy before hand, and he advised us of this. He gave us the option to cancel, but we chose not to, as it would be the same everywhere. This site is an absolute credit to the Hillsdons, and an asset to CC. It is easily accessed, with passing places and well groomed lanes. Venn Farm, is beautifully presented, with big well maintained pitches.. where can you stay, with all but chemical on your pitch, and FREE wifi, for £13.50!?? We arrived, and while Wason set up, wife walked dogs. The Woodland Walk, is so pretty and lovely to stroll around, with or without a dog. There's a field between the site and walk, that had held sheep in, but empty when we stayed, and a bonus to pit walk the dogs in. Andy, who is a really nice chap-came to see if all was ok, and was on hand throughout our stay-if and when needed...but not in your face and hovering like some. Launceston is a mare to get around, but all you need there...and Roadford is smashing for walking the dogs, being a 5 min drive away. If you want, a quiet, clean, and cherished site, with nothing but owls to listen to after dark, and stars to light the night skies. In all, this is the best, the nicest site we've stayed at, to date...and we CANNOT wait to return. Please, can we request some sun and dry grounds this time 😊

Promised to be so much morewe

We have just spent a 7 nights at Venn farm , this is our last holiday of the season and the one we've been looking forward to . Sadly Devon had had a lot of rain and the site grass was boggy at best ,muddy at worst . The owner had telephoned me to let me know , we had already packed wellies etc but the mud at the side of van where you pitch an awning was quite bad (putting down straw would have helped greatly ) Also at some stage sheep ( or llamas )had been taken through the site itself when we were there so we also had poo outside our door to contend with ( this also attracted flies when the sun came out ) Plus points the pitches are serviced well , the pitches are level and the pitch itself is hard standing Great walks which not in mud season would be lovely and free dog poo bags for clearing up ( obviously sheep poo doesn't count ) but no dog poo bin No views but lovely and quiet with only the noise of tawny owls by day and buzzards by night , great for star gazing as no light pollution nearby Waste and recycling well maintained and a drive over water dump for motorhomes. Launceston is well worth a visit as is Perranporth and other nearby tourist places . i'm sure the owners are lovely but I never met them , my husband did on paying but that was the limit to contact . I doubt we'd go back but fantastic value for money but all I'll remember of the site is mud and sheep poo - such a shame

Response from the Club:

Many thanks for leaving a review. The CL owner has been in touch as they work really hard to ensure people have a great time on their site and want to address your concerns. Prior to your stay the CL owner  telephoned you to offer you the opportunity to cancel as they had so much rain and to advise that the pitches were muddy. They are not a working farm and never take any animals through the CL, but during your stay unfortunately seven of their neighbours sheep did escape one night and found their way onto the site. The CL owner would have happily cleaned the mess up for you if they had been aware of this and apologise for the inconvenience this caused you. The CL owners live on the farm and as such are available to guests during their stay and visit on site every day to empty the rubbish/recycling bins and to deal with any issues so they are sorry they missed you. However, they do not call on individual guests unless they are invited, as they do not want to interrupt guests holiday. We hope this helps clear up any confusion and thank you for taking the time to review your stay.

CoolThis our first experience on a "A" only site and a service pitch. However we have been using CL's for 15 years. So for what its worth here is our review. The directions in the book are spot on, DO READ THEM or miss the site entrance .  The site is very well presented and maintained, the attention to detail is excellent .  You have a mowed path to follow in the woods, doggy poo bag dispenser at the gate, segregated colour coded re cycling facilities and a fully stocked bird feeding station.

Superb value for money??

In my experience the pitches have services second to none. The pitches are all level and hard standings, with hook up and a grey water disposal and fresh water tap within easy reach. There are large grassed area's with your own picnic table on each. The owner's are friendly and helpful, they will even supply an emergency lemon for your gin and tonic! The cl is set in a beautiful peaceful rural setting, there is a bird table that is visited by many different species, such as nuthatches and greater spotted woodpeckers. The site is very well kept and tidy, ideal for dogs and a lovely peaceful retreat. We found the surrounding lanes were ideal for cycling,Roadford lake is a couple of miles away, where you can enjoy a picnic looking out over the lake, makes for a pleasant circular cycle ride.

Disappointed

We agree with most of what is said about this site. It is quiet and very well kept and the facilities are good. We chose this site particularly because it advertised itself as being "surrounded by stunning views of the open countryside". This for us is an important part of our holiday and we were very disappointed to find there were no views, stunning or otherwise. On one side is a field/paddock and the other is a rather high hedge, beyond which is the view you cannot see. Its such a shame because if the hedge had been better managed, we wouldn't have felt so cheated. This is purely a personal preference and if a view doesn't bother you, its a nice site to stay at.

Cracking CL

This is a lovely tranquil well maintained CL, very professionally run. Each large pitch has hard standing with grass alongside and is fully serviced. There is plenty of room between the pitches and picnic tables to each one. Adjacent there is a beautiful woodland walk ideal for walking the dog. The approach road is rather narrow but there are passing places. Adviseable to follow the directions in the book and not the sat nav. Ideal for visiting Bude and Tintagel etc, this is one of the better sites on the network.
