Good Value For Money

At £12.00 per night, Venn Farm offers five serviced pitches with the only noise coming from the resident bird population. This makes for a pleasant and relaxing stay and is to be recommended. Full payment is required on arrival but we did receive half a dozen free range eggs in return which were lovely. There is walking from the site along quiet lanes and there are a number of places to visit within easy reach by car - Lydford Gorge, NT Llanhydrock, Dartmoor and the coast. Wi-Fi was intermittent. Although all the pitches are hard standing, there is only one (pitch 5) which is wide enough to accommodate a caravan and an awning. I mention this because we stayed during a prolonged spell of wet weather and the site does not drain particularly well - clay. The grassed areas and the entrance to the woodland walk were an absolute quagmire. Although we followed the directions in the book to arrive at the CL, Launceston presents some quite tight turns (we have a twin axle) and the lane on the final approach is quite narrow with two humped back bridges and a steep climb (although we didn't meet anything). When we left, we turned right out of the site (having already done a recce) and used the road past Roadford Lake to join the A30. This lane is wide and well surfaced and is, in our opinion, a much better option than trying to navigate around Launceston. If you did decide to come in this way, leave the A30 at Bratton Clovelly/Roadford Lake and follow the road over the dam head. It is 7 miles to the site this way. On the approach to the site, do not overshoot as the CL sign is positioned for traffic coming in the opposite direction. Look out for Scotland Farm and a post box on the right. Site entrance is in about 100 yards on the left opposite a cream painted house.

If Carlsberg did CL's

As others have all said and more, immaculate facilities, the water and waste disposals in stainless steel look like they've just come out an operating theatre, if only it could be picked up and landed next to the coast.

First Visit Will Not be The Last!

Just had our first visit to Venn Farm and all we can say is if you want peace and tranquillity at a first rate CL then this the one for you.The pictures on the website do not do it justice as it is a credit to the family that own it.Following the directions the owners have given you is straight forward except for one small problem. That is a narrow bend just coming out of Launceston which some drivers will not give way for you.Entrance to the CL is easy just be carefull not to miss the entrance as I did due to the owner having a Caravan Club CL sign pitched from a telegraph pole just around the entrance. The best way to judge the entrance is after 1.5 miles you will see 3 telegraph poles in a row on the right the entrance is just after the 3rd pole.Other than that we had a first class stay on an first class cl.The pitches and site are quiet and large in size with excellent drainage. The surrounding villages and attractions are within easy reach aswell as the shopping areas of Launceston.Other towns and villages such as Padstow and Port Isaac are within an hours drive. We WILL be booking again!!!!

Room with a View

This is a lovely CL to stay at, beautifully laid out, excellent facilities, friendly and helpful hosts. Good access to everywhere in area.  Can recommend the Horn of Plenty Restaurant.   Suggest you DON'T go via Launceston as the book/directions suggest, the road is extremely narrow with a couple of nasty hills.  The better route to go is approaching from the East going over the reservoir, Roadford Lake, as the road is much wider with better visibility and no nasty 1st gear hills.

Best CL site so far

We have only owned a caravan for 3 years but I have to say that this is the best site we have stayed at so far. The facilities (fully serviced) are second to none and of an extremely high quality. The hard standing is solid and pretty level. The location is great for access to Devon and Cornwall. We used the secure dog field at least twice a day and the woodland walk occasionally. Please note the owner's comments that there is wildlife - deer etc in the woods (don't ask me how i know :)) and Andy farms Llama. There is limited phone signal and the wifi is intermittent but about about to be upgraded. All in all I would recommend this site to anyone - but quietly as I'd like to get a space there again my self

venn farm

Venn farm cl is the smartest, tidiest, cleanest CL you could wish for. Surroundings are very pretty. Pitches are enormous with own water and electric. Picnic table on each pitch. Free wi fi greatly appreciated and worked well. Access is up a narrow lane although there are many passing places. Bude, Boscastle, Padstow all within an hour approx. Extremely peaceful quite site. Fully recommended. .

Goood place to be!!

This is clearly a gem of a site and Andy and Tina should be proud of what they are building. The site is set in a superb part of the country and the layout is perfect. There is a lovely woodland walk to stroll through or in our case walk the dog, individual water and electricity points - what a boon especially if it rains. The free WiFi really works well and if like us you brought your work with you there are no issues with uploading/downloading. We would without hesitation recommend this site for a perfect break.

A Perfect Place to Relax

The owners of this CL should be proud for what they have achieved. They have clearly invested a lot of time and effort into developing a CL that for us was just perfect. We have just had 2 weeks of peace and tranquility at this site, so quiet that even the birds don't have to chirp loud to be heard. The site has good 16amp power to each pitch (not shared between two pitches like some sites), and individual water supply (first time for us using a direct water link to the van with an Aquasource - brilliant). The owner has installed free WiFi in the centre of the site so all vans should be in range to get a signal. Great for keeping in touch or going online to check things out locally. There are also wooden picnic table benches on each pitch that can seat 6 people, so no need to pack extra chairs if you are expecting guests. Each pitch has a hard standing adjacent to grass which is perfect for caravan and awning combination. Also the centre driveway through the site is covered so no problem with wet grass or mud if it rains. We had a couple of days rain and the water drained away well. Access to the site is just 1.5 miles from an A class road, and typical of the west country roads is a bit narrow in places. Having said that, we managed to get in and out with a twin axle (and 7'6" wide) without any problem. There are also plenty of passing places along the road. The nearby (less than 25 yards away) private woods are great for a casual stroll or walking the dog. Even the grass walkway through the woods is mowed and kept clear. The site is just a few miles from Launceston where there are a number of supermarkets so you can keep stocked up with essentials. I have no hesitation in recommending this site and would definitely use it again when traveling to the Devon/Cornwall area.
