Great site !

Having stayed here numerous times and not being able to add a review for technical reasons, at last we can! Love this site! Nice and dry when it’s been wet as it drains so well being high up. Excellent walks with the dogs straight from the site, especially up to the pub! Love not having to use the car once we are here, just plenty of walks everywhere. Lovely walk up over water ship down as well. Will always come back to this fantastic site!

perfect, just perfect!

I have no idea why anyone could or should diss this most beautiful and peaceful site, it was as close to heaven that I want to get for many years. The grass was almost manicured not just cut, the electricity supply was on all the time and served me well the water supply was good and there was a small toilet in the corner which was very functional and clean, a true bonus for a CL. The site is secure and the comings and goings are monitored well and you are assured of a warm welcome by Mr Christian. There are some really nice walks and a pub not too far away. I will return to this site in the very near future. Well done and thank you for such a nice stay. Ian

If you want to get away from it all.....this is the place to come!

I have been coming to this site. on the odd occasion for over 3 years. Yes, it is basic but the peace and tranquility it provides is amazing!!!!! And for £12 night it is a bargain!!!! There have been vast improvements....grass kept short, new fencing, hedges trimmed, new electric hook ups and a new toilet is being plumbed in a little hut... I've read previous reviews and feel they are a tad unfair......this is a get away....it's quiet, peaceful and lovely walks!!! If you want to sit in a chair and listen to the birds singing and the lambs bleeting, with the odd occasional input from their peacock.....this is the place to come!!!!! If you have dogs, they will adore it here.....or teenagers alike!!! It's like a reset on life.

Dont be put off by farm lane.

Weve been visiting Walkeridge Farm CL now for 8 years and absolutely adore the peace and tranquility it gives us, a real break from our busy lives. Jo and his family have worked hard to get the site up to grade. We agree there are no "posh" toilets or showers, but as avid caravaners we use our own and, because of this, it also means no screaming children to break our lovely peace. The views are gorgeous, the walks are lovely. We take our "grand dogs" and its ideal for them as there is a lovely meadow next door to play in. There is nothing nicer than sitting out on a summers evening just listening and watching the buzzards flying overhead or seeing a deer trot across the meadows. Stunning! If you want peace, tranquillity, views and a good nights sleep come here. Anything else go to a club site!

Scuffy II

Totally agree with TDenbow's review, long grass, absolutely filthy toilet, no grey dump and the black dump was primitive to say the least.

O.k

We visited this site recently and were slightly put off by the approach but it was in a lovely position and we had a lovely walk from the site.  We, like the previous writer carry two electric leads so we were able to get away from the rest! The silly thing is there was electricity to an old caravan in the bottom corner which was a toilet and sink but it was very spooky the first night when I looked out and saw a light on it, so had to cautiously check it out in the morning!! It wouldn't take much to bring it up to scratch.

Scruffy

We stayed 2nd to 5th May 2014. This was our first CL and so I hope this is not typical of what the Caravan Club permit to carry their logo and advertising. It has almost put me off of CLs. Directions to site were good and we didn’t suffer the overgrown hedges mentioned elsewhere in the reviews but given the other issues listed below give it a few weeks! The track entrance is rather rutted but frustratingly the owner has the required patch up stones piled up on site but has chosen to sprinkle a few in the pot holes. The grass was annoyingly long as mentioned by everyone else who has reviewed this site and the owner has the required tractor pulled lawnmower but like the track has chosen not to use it, even though he had for the field next door so his microlight aircraft could take off rather noisily every morning. Entry in to the field leads past scruffy derelict buildings, a dumped recovery truck and the loo with chemical toilet disposal (well, sort of- a black bin with the bottom cut out over a sewage pipe!) The loo is actually a dirty shack with an ill-fitting door that is held closed when not in use by a length of rope tethered to a fence, there is no light. We didn’t find a grey water disposal site. Apart from the scruffy farm the surrounding countryside is beautiful and is of course Watership Down country. The Swan pub in the village does great food and smashing real ale. Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey off the telly) and gardens are well worth a visit. All in, I’m amazed that the Caravan Club list this CL on the website. The owner clearly can’t be bothered to run it properly and hasn’t responded to the previous feed back, he doesn’t deserve customers.

Overgrown hedging on driveway

Stayed on this site and found the grass to be a little long but not really a problem. Our main complaint is that the driveway into the farm is quite narrow but the Hawthorn hedges either side are overgrown and completely scratched our brand new caravan! Windows and paintwork. The driveway is a little uneven but by going slowly didn't present any problems. Would love to re-visit this site but not without my petrol hedgecutter!.

We enjoyed this site!

We have thoroughly enjoyed staying at Walkeridge Farm CL. It was very easy to find, although the last quarter mile was on a single track driveway with no passing places, with a couple of shallow pot holes that were easily avoided On entering the field, the grass was no more than 4 inches long so no problem. There is only one electric point, with six sockets on it. Being used to camping in France and at a multitude of other CL's in this country we always carry two electric leads so this was a no problem. There is a small WC which was kept clean, with fresh flowers in the window. The views from the site were stunning! Next door is a small grass strip, and a couple of times we were able to see a small plane taking off towing a glider. If you want a basic site that is very peaceful this could be for you!
