Exactly how a CL should be......

This is what we want from a CL isn't it? In a quiet village, and beautifully tended by its welcoming and helpful owners, is this lovely 5-unit site. The pitches are large, and there are views over the sizeable dog walking field. West View is well situated for many of the Region's attractions, as well as being near the bustling market town of Louth. Throw in the WC and shower facilities, not to mention the very fair pricing, and there you have it. Highly recommended.

Fabulous couple running an excellent CL

Don’t know where to begin! Roger and Judith are nothing less than stars. From the moment we arrived they were so friendly and helpful with information about the area. They then went far and beyond when I was taken seriously ill, taking me to the local hospital rather than awaiting an ambulance or taxi - the time saved could well have preserved my life. They then looked after my wife during the 5 nights I was detained at Grimsby hospital and allowed us to extend our booking by 8 nights until we could be repatriated by friends and family, because neither of us could drive. The CL is in a very good location for walking and cycling and is not very far from Louth and the sea. Nice level walk into town along the old canal towpath. Louth is great, lots of pubs and cafes, an historic abbey, and a tri-weekly market. Horncastle and Alford are lovely old towns too, not a long distance away. The only downside we encountered (and it seems churlish to mention it) is the lack of a regular bus service - a solitary return trip to Louth every Wednesday! A well tended, well drained, and level field with adequate EHU provision. Power is metered but 10kwh are included in the nightly fee and we found that more than adequate.

Lovely Site

We really dropped lucky choosing this little site, we wanted a site in a good Cycling area and it ticks all the boxes. We were met with a warm welcome with toilets, shower and emptying pointed out. This is a very well kept site (I'd go as far as to say immaculate) that is level with short grass which is collected when cut so no grass walked into caravan. Directions and roads to the site are good and suitable for large caravans. There are plenty of good quiet Cycling roads from site and footpaths. Tony and Tricia Gledhill

Lovely site.

We had a lovely 10 night stay her in June in our 50 year old vintage caravan who we have named Hector. Really well kept site with nice clean toilets and shower. We were on pitch 4 which is next to the vegetable plot and the chickens. Great site. Great hosts. We will definitely be back.

Perfect choice

We came here because of amended plans and so glad we did. So good we came back the following week for another six night stay. Perfect hosts and a perfect site. So quiet, relaxed and chilled throughout the whole stay. Lots of nearby beaches for our dog to enjoy. Even offered the opportunity to chill out in a cottage during the ridiculous hot spell. Loved it !!!

Ticks all the boxes

This CL is everything a CL should be, flat, very spacious, easy to find, easy to drive your caravan into, two clean toilets, clean shower, info room and a very well kept garden tended by the owners. If this site is in the area you want to visit i can assure you ,you don't need to have that " Will it be ok?" feeling when driving there. thanks Richard and Judith. you have a lovely site.

Peaceful and well run site

A last minute 3 night break and, with the bikes, decided on a visit to this site. We always read the previous reviews which were all complementary. We were not disappointed. On arrival we received a warm welcome from the owner, please note though that it is advisable to follow the route instructions in the club hand book and not the sat nav! The pitches are well spaced apart, the grass well cut and the site is level and sunny. Visiting in mid summer, we were able to enjoy the sunshine until late into the evening. The toilet and shower facilities are clean and were a welcome bonus. The whole offering is well kept and extremely tidy and very quiet and peaceful. The chickens were a constant source of entertainment and the eggs produced were lovely. No pub or shop in the village, but the nearest shop is only a mile or so away. The village itself offers an opportunity for a gentle stroll and there seems to be quite a few marked footpaths. We were cycling and the area is generally flat, the coast being easily achievable. A nice coffee or meal stop available at Claythorn Mill. We will definitely visit again as there are plenty more routes to explore.

Pretty and Recommended.

I arrived late and stressed after my sat nav for some mysterious sat-nav-y reason took me miles around on tiny roads. Ignore the sat nav and go via Manby, which is MUCH easier!  There's also a handy co-op there, on the junction.  Richard took pity on me after my slightly fraught phone call and came out to flag me down, and then to show me the pitch options and where things were on site. It had been very wet, so I opted for the hardstanding options - the first night on the tarmac tucked into a corner of the car park and the second night on the plastic mesh area, which gave me a nice outlook over the site. The site is lovely - spacious with open views across a large field - and there is plenty of evidence of how much it is looked after with neat pitches, flower pots full of flowers about to burst into spring life, and tidy and clearly marked bins and chemical disposal point which are well screened from the pitches. There's also facilities room and toilet at the end of the little row of holiday cottages. Richard sent me the wifi code and the wifi signal was good and useable - not always the case on sites! On my first morning before heading out for the day I did a short circular local walk out to the church, which was very enjoyable. The church is attractive and the churchyard full of snowdrops during my March stay! There are lots of other paths for slightly less wet days and longer walks. Back on site the shower was clean and - after waiting as instructed - hot, and there's a washer and dryer which are coin operated. Useful for drying my wet towel etc as the weather wasn't conducive to drying stuff outside during my stay! The board in the 'facilities' room could do with updating as quite a few of the notices etc were old and faded, but this may be because my stop was early in the season and the owners hadn't got round to doing this yet. The facilities themselves were excellent for a CL, and include things like a book swap and I noticed umbrellas and windbreaks which presumably could be borrowed with permission if needed. Eggs and veg from the sites chickens and large veg plot were available and I bought six beautiful large eggs. I was staying due to various commitments in the area, but travelling to them from the site was a joy as the local countryside is simply gorgeous. I would definitely stay again. I knocked a star off 'peaceful' due to a nearby bird scarer which started at 6.30 am on the first day (but not the second), but that's not the site's fault and wasn't really a disturbance as I'm usually awake at 6. Ease of arrival lost a star due to my personal experience, but for anyone arriving via Manby this would be a five star rating. Overall, strongly recommended.

Great CL early November

Originally booked for 5 nights but so nice I stayed for 10 in total. Really peaceful, big on-site field for dog walking, also plenty nearby. Had pitch 4 which is next to the chickens and stands on it's own, toilet and shower facilities are fine. I arrived and left via Grimoldby which was dead easy, coming the other way brings you through Louth which I wouldn't recommend. All in all a great stay, defo go onto my "visit again" list.
