Fantastic CL

We don't often use CL's as we are a large motorhome towing a car on a twin axel trailer which can cause problems on grass. However this CL has a hardstanding with power as well as beautiful grass pitches also with power. Having spoken with Martin Scoley one of the owners we were booked in to this wonderful peacefull site. There is a shower and loo as well as second loo available to guests which are spotless, there is a small charge for the shower which we added to our cheque at the end of our visit. The site is part of the old RAF Metheringham Station, the Visitors Centre is certainly worth a visit with a Dakota and parked next to us a Jet Provost. Can highly recommend this site and will be back again. Apologies for the late review, just catching up now busy year.

Lovely site

We stayed here for two nights in August. A last minute decision. We could not have been happier with our choice. The owner was so helpful assisting us to choose a suitable site. We decided to use the lawned area. We were able to catch a bus into Woodhall Spa from the end of the lane and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon there. The bus is hourly and is the Lincoln to Boston route. So very easy access into Lincoln city centre. The showers (50p) and toilets were kept extremely clean. The added bonus of Metheringham airbase visitor centre was a pleasant surprise. This site is a real credit to the owners. Thank you for our stay - we will definitely be back when all we want is peace and quiet.

Excellent Stay

Very nice big field with lots of choices of where to pitch, quiet and peaceful (apart from when RAF Typhoons are on training runs but these are few and far between ) . Site is in same grounds as Metheringham Air Museum so look for brown sign right on the junction and have a visit it's quite interesting . Toilet and shower spotless and modern with plenty of hot water (50p shower) . Centrally placed between 2 RAF bases (Waddington and Conningsby ) , Lincoln , Sleaford and Woodhall Spa and 5 NT sites in the surrounding area . Excellent stay and great value for money @ £12.50/night .

A Lovely Peaceful CL

We were lucky enough to spend 8 nights here enjoying the glorious weather in June. For 4 nights we were the only ones on site but even when full there is so much space that everyone can take advantage of the sun or much needed shade. The shower and toilet facility was spotless and cleaned every morning, so reasonable at 50p for a shower with plenty of hot water. We spent a couple of hours one afternoon looking round the Museum which was very interesting and the volunteers told us lots about the exhibits, my husband was pleased as they let him take a picture of his mini Moke in front of the Dakota. This CL is a credit to the owners and I wish we could have stayed longer but is definitely on our list for another visit as so much to do in area. Looking forward to returning. Fabulous week at Westmoor

I booked this site for the week at the may day bank holiday, so glad that i did choose this wonderful site, i arrived on a very wet Wednesday after many days of wet weather to be met immediately by the owner who apologised and said that the large CL field was unusable, however he guided us to a concrete apron next to a Jet Provost aircraft, brilliant!, being an ex airforce man this was great, even more so when on the Saturday they gave the aircraft an engine run! happens only once a month apparently. The rest of the week past by in glorious hot weather did not want to move when the field dried out on the Friday, i cannot recommend this site highly enough and will be back in the future, the owner was more than helpful and nothing was too much trouble i wish all CL sites where this well managed and run, the toilets and showers were immaculately cleaned every day. well done mr. and mrs Scoley.

Lovely CL!

We had chosen this CL as it is on the site of the Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre, we were very impressed by it. On arrival we were told to have a look at the grass on the CL, if we weren't happy then we could use the hardstanding at the side of the Jet Provost. The ground seemed fine, so we chose to pitch on the grass. No problem for the MH and there was lots of space for everyone. It was so quiet and peaceful, with a lot of birdlife. We always have birdfeeders with us and when hanging them up here, in no time were we rewarded by lots of different birds feeding off them. We were only here for 2 nights as part of a tour around Lincs, and on the afternoon we arrived we visited the Museum on site. Very interesting to read the history behind it all, volunteers there were all very helpful. The CL has WC/shower as well as a disabled WC. Shower is 50p. A lovely CL which we've no hesitation to recommend.

History in droves

We came across this site by chance, due to the wet weather and the requirement of a hard standing. We couldn't use the field as it was wet, but we got the hard standing next to the Provost Jet! We couldn't believe it. Easy to access BBMF @ RAF Coningsby. Lovely clean shower & toilet, 50p for the shower. We will be back, cracking spot.

Well worth a visit

We visited this site many years ago and found it largely unchanged last week. Two acres of available well kept paddock space to ourselves. The peace and quiet was very welcome. We had hares passing by and under our caravan every evening. Flycatchers, green woodpeckers and many others to watch. My husband had the museum curator all to himself one day and was brimming with information when he finally came back to the van. There is Coningsby (home of the BBMF) and East Kirby Airfield (home to 'Just Jane' Lancaster) just up the road for any aircraft lovers. The owners were welcoming and helpful. We will be going back sooner rather than later.

A lovely peaceful Site....July 2013

We had a good welcome from the owners who directed us to the paddock and asked us to settle in and he saw us later. The paddock is a very large field which is very tidy and with short mowed grass. A couple of trees in the centre of the field gave us lovely shade for sitting under in this heat wave. There are two toilets with one also having a shower cubicle, these are cleaned every morning and are of a very nice size. It is wonderfully quiet site. The Metheringham RAF Museum is on site which is open on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday and is free for visiting, although not too busy visitors can be seen from the site, this is not a problem. Ice cream can be bought from the centre. A bus stop to take you into Lincoln is just at the top of the lane, the area is nice for visiting Sealford, Woodall Spa with cafes and eating places. We paid a price of £8 per night, 20p for a shower, honesty box, with EHU. The Caravan Club has asked him to up his prices. From the middle of August it will be £10 per night and 50p for a shower. Thanks to Mr and Mrs Scoley, we had a good time, the site is lovely and we will be back to see you shortly.

A little gem

As the title say this is a gem of a site.We stayed on it in early July when the weather had been bad and the field normally used was water logged but no problem there are hard standings that can be used and this was where we were, right in front of the "jet provost".There are 2 toilets (1 disable) and a shower (20p in honesty box) both are old but in good condition and are heated. There is a museum on site telling the history of the airfield which is open Wednesdays and weekends and some old wartime buildings. The site is quiet and peaceful with a variety of wildlife to sit and watch in the evenings. For those with an interest in aircraft the sit e is ideally situated for Woodhall Spa (Dambuster Memorial), Coningsby (Battle of Britain Memorial Flight), East Kirkby (Lincolnshire Aviation Museum) and many other places of interest. The site does have a rally field so it would be wise to check if a rally is on when you want to visit. All in all a 1st class C.L well worth a visit and all for the current price of £8.00 a night.
