Ease of arrival/welcome

A very welcoming, peaceful site.

We have just spent a very relaxing 4 days at this lovely CL. We had a very warm welcome from Joe and Kathy when we arrived. They have improved this site enormously since our last visit 8 years ago, and have now installed decent roads and hardstandings. Your caravan/motorhome pitches on the hardstanding, but your awning will be on grass. Or if you prefer to be on a grass pitch, these are also available, Although the site is directly off a main road, because it is down in a slight valley there is very little road noise. The whole site is kept in immaculate condition, and they have even installed a brand new dog walk area for members use. We will certainly be back for another relaxing break. Thank you Kathy and Joe. Perfect campsite

Immaculately maintained lawns. Huge field with loads of space. Very tranquil location. Close to cheddar, Glastonbury, wells and lovely local walk to Ebor gorge. Nice pub 2 miles away. Great hosts - very friendly and welcoming. Toilet and shower very clean. Highly recommended.

Spent three nights in this lovely site. Beautiful location, well kept site with friendly and helpful owners. Enjoyed local walks and cycle rides plus a visit to Wells just down the road. Would love to return.

Happy To Recommend

Pleasant and tranquil site, well maintained and clean throughout. Superb views from all the pitches and a choice of hardstanding or grass, complete with electric hookups. From the site it is easy to reach many places like Wells, Cheddar or just take a walk across the Mendips. We had a few very enjoyable days at the site and would recommend it to anyone looking for a site in the area.

Fabulous

Just spent 6 nights here. Lovely site, gentle slope but we never had to use any blocks. Due to Covid toilets were closed but we knew this before we went. There is 2 taps available, EHU on each pitch. Lovely lawned well kept grounds. Space for 5 vans on hard standing and 2 on grass if you would prefer that. Never more than 5 vans there while we were there. There are 2 lodges (were not in use while we were there) but it is so spacious it would not be a problem. The spaces for the vans are nicely separated and you are not on top of each other. The owners were amazing and friendly and very helpful on where to go for good walks etc. Credit where credit is due. Loads of lovely walks. Bit strenuous at times (but that’s probably cause we are not the fittest of people 😂) Cheddar village only a few miles away. Shops not far in Wells (Tesco, Lidl, Morrison’s etc). The town is very nice. Lovely cathedral and plenty places to have a coffee. I would not hesitate to book here again if we are down there again Thank you

What a little gem

Just come back from two weeks at Woodlands CL, great holiday at a great site. As we drove in, we thought ‘Wow’, very neat and tidy field with laid out driveways, hardstandings, a great view and a warm welcome from Kathy. (We met Joes later and he is also warm and friendly, nothing too much trouble) Nicely sited a couple of miles from Wells, convenient for shops and lots of attractions, outlet village 15 minutes drive away and the coast within travelling distance. Rain showers did not dampen our spirits, good relaxing holiday all round

Enjoyable stay

We have just Spent 6 nights at Woodlands in our motorhome and tow car and have had a lovely time. The site was peaceful and upon arrival we were met by Jo. He asked which pitch we would like and even advised to go nearer the fresh water tap so that we could fill up the motorhome easily and left us to settle in. We had a very heavy awning with us which we didn't want to put up as we had previously used it the week before so Kathy very kindly asked if we would like to store it in their Shed until we left. If your using a Sat Nav and are coming from Cornwall way make sure you come off at Junction 23 and not Junction 22 as you will be brought through Cheddar which is a nightmare with a caravan / Motorhome especially when busy ( We got caught out ). Overall the site is lovely with amazing views Jo and Kathy were there to answer any questions but left you alone if you wanted to be. I don't know how busy it will become with the static vans are up and running but it was nice and quiet with only one other caravan as well as our motorhome . It was a lovely end to great week.

Kathy & Joe Very Helpful

Kathy and Joe were very helpful. Especially when the tow car developed an unexpected fault. We were booked to stay six nights. Kathy having checked her records was able to allow us to stay the extra night without contravening the five van/motorhome rule. So I am unable to understand the previous review. Joe helped when the caravan toilet developed a fault requiring a temporary fix, by providing help using his local knowledge. Although the site has a slope this is easily compensated for by using the usual techniques. There were suitable chumps to help with the caravan stays. For those whose knowledge of Somerset is limited, chumps refers to lumps of wood. The site is in a lovely position and very well kept. We were even allowed to pick our own apples. Positioned close to Ebbor Gorge allowed us to visit twice during our stay. This is a quiet location, unlike its larger neighbour Cheddar Gorge, with a picnic area with a lovely view. To Kathy, Joe and their son stay safe and well.
