Why stay here ...

Woodlands CL is situated in a small gently sloping valley on the edge of the Mendip Hills in Somerset close to the historic City of Wells.

Surrounded by open countryside and enjoying superb views, we are close to the amenities offered by the City of Wells and the Towns of Glastonbury, Cheddar and Shepton Mallet, which makes our site the perfect base from which to tour beautiful Somerset.

There are many World famous attractions within easy reach, Wookey Hole Caves, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury Tor, Glastonbury Abbey and Wells Cathedral to name but a few.

A little further away, there are the coastal towns of Weston-Super-Mare, Burnham-On-Sea and Clevedon offering all the fun of the seaside for those who like a bit of a paddle.

For country lovers there are many walks and quiet country lanes to explore. With rugged footpaths and fantastic views from the top of the Mendip Hills to the lower flat ground of the Somerset levels, you will be spoilt for choice as to what to see next.

There is wildlife galore in adjacent fields with Rabbits, Foxes, Deer, Squirrels, Pheasants, Buzzards, Kestrels and Owls to be seen quite regularly. Horses and the usual selection of farm animals can be seen dotted around the local landscape.

With five well spaced pitches surrounding a centrally planted fruit orchard, each pitch is separated by newly planted Himalayan Birch trees and enjoys the benefit of individual electric hook ups.

There is a covered service area containing a fresh water point, grey waste disposal, chemical waste disposal and toilet. There is a second fresh water standpipe on the opposite side of the field.

We are sorry but electric cars cannot be charged on this CL.  Nearest charging point is Morrisons in Wells.

For dogs (and well behaved owners) there is an enclosed dog walking area on the site and there are several longer walks across nearby fields and at local locations.

We provide free WI-FI access for our visitors and for added security our completely enclosed site is protected by CCTV cameras.

Run by Kathy and Joe Bowers and we like to give a personal and friendly service and there will always be someone on hand to offer help and advise when required.

Sloping site which we would advise require levelling blocks for both Caravans and Motorhomes.

A great stay

Woodlands
We loved our two night stay on this very well organised site. We were welcomed on arrival firstly by Kathy and later by Joe. We has a choice of pitch. Lovely toilet and shower facility too. We walked to Ebbor Gorge from the site. Great views from the Mendip Hills towards Glastonbury. Visited Wells which is a short drive away. Glastonbury food market - fab eats. From Glastonbury we biked along the Bittern Trail to Avalon Marshes RSPB centre. We walked Cheddar Gorge too. All a short distance from the site. Kathy also keeps a stock of locally produced wine from Perch Hill in her fridge. We bought a bottle and really enjoyed it. Couldn't fault our stay. Lovely! Thank you!

A good site

Woodlands
We stayed at Woodlands during early September in good weather. As others write, the site is immaculately cared for by welcoming and friendly hosts. There are currently two fields. The top one has hard standing pitches which are on a slope. In this field is the toilet and shower. The lower field is recently opened and has grassed pitches. Most pitches are on uneven ground although there are a couple of flat ones but which don’t have the bst views. The site is generally quiet although there are occasional cars that pass along a track to a stables. Outside the entrance gate is a main road that has an excellent bus service to glorious Wells and other towns. A good site that I’d readily commend although at £22 per night it is expensive for a CL.

A very welcoming, peaceful site.

Woodlands
We have just spent a very relaxing 4 days at this lovely CL. We had a very warm welcome from Joe and Kathy when we arrived. They have improved this site enormously since our last visit 8 years ago, and have now installed decent roads and hardstandings. Your caravan/motorhome pitches on the hardstanding, but your awning will be on grass. Or if you prefer to be on a grass pitch, these are also available, Although the site is directly off a main road, because it is down in a slight valley there is very little road noise. The whole site is kept in immaculate condition, and they have even installed a brand new dog walk area for members use. We will certainly be back for another relaxing break. Thank you Kathy and Joe. Immaculately maintained lawns. Huge field with loads of space. Very tranquil location. Close to cheddar, Glastonbury, wells and lovely local walk to Ebor gorge. Nice pub 2 miles away. Great hosts - very friendly and welcoming. Toilet and shower very clean. Highly recommended.
