Great bank holiday easter weekend..

What a lovely little site.. Set in the beautiful grounds of Wortley Hall, within walking distance of the local village of Wortley. The local tea room was lovely, super lunch and great cake. Local village pub, was within an easy walk. The trans penine trail was only a short bike ride away.  Lovely duck pond within the grounds, would definitely go back....

Relaxing weekend

A really lovely site.   Very warm welcome. We walked in the village. Lovely farm shop, craft shop, and tea rooms.   The steward of the working men's club made us welcome. We have booked to return in July.   At night it was great to hear the owls hooting and in the morning waking to the quacking of ducks.  This is what caravanning  is about being on a lovely well maintained cl site with lovely walks and wildlife.

Lovely place to stay

Stayed twice now, near enough for us for a weekend. Clean, tidy, walks on site, great butcher in the village to get some fab meat he is open all weekend. Great pub there too, we can take the dog in a small room if the weather is bad. Would definately recommend :)

Beautiful Site

A really lovely CL in a carefully managed setting. This is one of the nicest CLs we have used, with access to all the hotel facilities. The pitches are new, and once the shrubs have grown a little this will improve the site even more. A quiet site with real interest immediately adjacent in the gardens of Wortley Hall. The Hall is "worker" owned, meaning the trade unions and the co-operative appear to the owners. The Hotel mainly seems to survive on weddings, of which there were three during our stay. There is a shop and tea room in the village of Wortley which is within easy walking distance. The Hotel food is good but the hours of service are a bit variable and need special attention on Sunday evenings when we found there was nothing served. However the very attentive staff were able to get us some delicious sandwiches. Overall a site of good quality to which we will return!

The Secret Garden!

We absolutely loved this site. My kids enjoyed exploring the grounds of Wortley Old Hall and gardens and discovering all the hidden gems such as the 'ice house' and an old rockery, the pond and an ancient hollow oak. A real treasure in South Yorkshire, close to lots of attractions but very peaceful. We'd highly recommend and visit again.

The Hidden Garden

A manicured site within a country-house garden to which you have unrestricted access. Wortley Hall serves good food at reasonable prices. The village is within easy walking distance and has a hotel, post office, tea room, shop and farm shop. Sheffield is easily accessible via the Park & Ride. This otherwise first class site is let down by a reception system operated by the hotel receptionists who are obliging but untrained. Money is taken and a gate key is handed over. That's it. There is no information as to services particularly the chemical disposal point which is more than 100 yards away in a stable yard clearly marked "Private No Access"

Brilliant site

Wonderful CL.  Local people very friendly and informative of area.  Hall serves bar meals as well as a la carte  in restaurant, which is a bonus. Also Sunday carvery. Very popular wedding venue, even mid week.  A real nice feel and atmosphere to this place, well worth a visit.  Will be back........

Little Gem

This is a little gem of a site. Set in a delightful spot in the grounds of Wortley hall and very well maintained. Stuart, the gardener, kindly gave us an insight into the fascinating history of the buildings and gardens. Lovely farm shop and popular pub in the village and the trans Pennine way is on the doorstep. Sunday carvery at the hall was excellent value. Highly recommended.

LOVELY SITE

We stayed here over Easter as handy for Sheffield. The site is lovely and the hard standing pitches makes it a good place to stay whatever the weather. The Hall and gardens are fabulous, well kept and very clean and tidy. We met a Len during our stay, He has a real passion for Wortley, as, his father along with some friends kept the Hall going. Len gave us a tour of all the rooms along with the history of the Hall, all very interesting. He has such a lot of knowledge and it was a real privilege to meet him. We will definitely stay here again. I think it is worth the £16pn because of the upkeep of the grounds, that said it would be nice if there was a toilet for the site to use, perhaps situated with the CDP.
