Great CL

Just stayed here for 5 nights. Spotless site with great walking from the site. Good farm shop in the village. No 29 bus goes to Penistone/sheffield every 2 hours. Highly recommended.

The hoarse duck!

We found this CL last year when it was closed for development work and vowed to return. Situated in the grounds of a manor house on the fringe of a small village with lovely local pub and superb farm shop, within easy access of the M1. What more could you want? Well what about its proximity to Meadowhall Shopping Centre, the fabulous Peak District and the Transpennine trail on the doorstep. There is wildlife in abundance, including some very tame ducks, one of which was a little too noisy for its own good and was hoarse by the time we left!

Pleasant and Quiet

A fairly new CL, with smaller hardstandings than a club site, but the pitches are half grass and half hardcore. As others have said the CDP point is away from the main pitching area but not too far. It lies within the grounds of a country hotel and is, like many CL's, a secondary business. There is a nice real ale pub in the village, and the Trans Pennine Trail is virtually on the doorstep. We arrived on a Sunday, early afternoon, but couldn't get on to the site until an outfit due to leave that day had departed. (Those who advocate late Sunday departures please note ). We chose the site as it was in a convenient location for us, but at £16 per night, it is, we thought a little expensive, compared, for example, to a no facilities club site we are visiting next month which is only £13. As an aside, I would also mention, that there was dog mess on the grass section of the unoccupied pitch next to us which remained there for the duration of our stay, nice touch.

Overpriced and not as advertised.

Yes, the location is fantastic and the site has new hard standing, but the site is poorly thought out with small pitches that are difficult to get into, (and why they laid new hard standing and didn't level it is beyond me). There is no access for motor homes to the fresh / grey water point and the chemical disposal is located in another part of the property, some distance from the site. But the main disappointment for us, was the misleading info. When we looked at the site, we thought that the price of £16 per night for a CL with no toilet/shower was high. However, the site offers Wi-fi which was a big plus, so we were prepared to pay this fee. On arrival, we find that the site does not have wi-fi. When I asked about this at the reception, I was told that I should use the hotel lobby. If I want to sit in a hotel lobby then I would book into a hotel.

What a delightful location

What a gem of a location. Quiet 5 pitch CL, but with plenty of nearby amenities - the Hall, the village of Wortley with its pub, farm shop and coffee lounge/tea room. With 2 dogs there are plenty of walks to enjoy. Will definitely visit again and so near to home a perfect weekend break

A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN IN SOUTH YORKSHIRE

Well what a hidden gem. We had 4 nights of bliss. The site is one of the best we have stayed on over the years. The surrounding grounds are beautiful with what history the hall holds. With staying there you can imagine what life was all about all those years ago. The staff were very helpful when needed. We will certainly return in the future.

Convenient & peaceful

Spent three nights, convenient for a Dog show. Bar meals reasonably priced and very good food. Lovely gardens to walk round as well.
