We stopped here for 2 nights, on our way home. A very nice site, friendly staff, clean toilets and shower facilities. Close to lots of activities/places to visit. This was our first stay here, but I'm sure we will go back for longer too.
Fife break
Ideal location for a base to tour Fife and from St Andrews round the coast to Elie.
Although site details do warn you about some of the pitches being under trees - this does account for a good number of the total. Being under the trees obviously effects the lack of direct sunshine and lots of rain drops.
Toilet block first class for cleanliness and number of facilities.
On the one way road system a small steep hill has to be negotiated - towing a van up this incline can be a struggle - on speaking to the wardens, plans are afoot to try and change the route in order to tow downhill.
Village of Markinch is a handy 5 minute walk for groceries etc.
End of Long Day
Having driven from John O Groats, we arrived somewhat weary at Balbirnie Park. We were met at reception by the lady warden, who was most helpful regarding where to eat and drink in the town of Markinch. The town being literally a few hundred yards from the site however the site is not disturbed by any town or traffic noise.
The site and toilet block are clean and very well kept.
The train station is a short walk from the site with links to Edinburgh. We would definitely use this site again.
Stress free living
This is the second time we have stayed at this site. First time was October 2015 and now July 2016. We will be staying again in October. Initially we were booked on a Holiday Park a few miles north but did not like the 'battery-hen' feel we got with the proximity of other vans and decided to switch to Balbirnie, after confirming with the site that they had space available. The park is wonderful, situated on the edge of Balbirnie Park, its perfect for the dog to get a good workout. The town of Markinch is right on the sites doorstep and has a couple of pubs and a couple of hotels. Bannerman Hotel is dog friendly and has a good food menu. There is a co-op and a nisa for odds and ends and Glenrothes is two minutes drive if you need anything substantial. The wardens are very friendly and seem to be constantly tidying the place up. The toilets/showers are as you would expect a caravan club site to be, first class. the information hut has enough info about the surrounding area to fill your days with and there is a couple of shelves with paperbacks if you need a holiday read. The pitches are hard standing and are very generous for your outfit, car and awning. We consider this site as our 'local' caravan club getaway and cannot recommend highly enough.

Two night stopover
The site is ideal for touring Fife and beyond. Spotless facilities and helpful staff. Lots of dog lovers here. Many pitches are in the shade of trees but midges weren't too bad. A little traffic noise but nothing too loud. Good walk round the estate, particularly if you have dogs-lots of grass for throwing a ball or chasing rabbits!
Great for first timers
Had a lovely 10 day break at Balbirnie. The facilities were spotless, the site immaculately maintained and a great deal of time and effort had been put into the landscaping. The wardens were very friendly and welcoming and as this was our first trip in a caravan, helped us with getting set up and providing advice, guidance and tips.
We hope to enjoy more caravan club sites if this is the standard to expect and will certainly stay here again when we are in the area. Great walking and cycling in the parkland and locally and Falkland Palace, Kellie Castle and St Andrews are a must.
Sunny Scotland
Welcoming Wardens, lovely clean facilities, spotless toilets, beautiful garden arrangements... we had fantastic weather with the park over the way and the childrens park over the road, who could ask for more. Thank you Balbirnie.
Great site
Lovely, friendly welcome. Balbirnie Park is adjacent and is great for walking your dogs. Clean, easily accessible toilet and shower block, Easy access to many interesting places in Fife.
