Perfect such a shame it is being closed

The perfect site with the city, harbour, walks and museums all within easy access. Boat taxis and buses close by as are several excellent restaurants. Bristol has so much history there is always something to see or do. The downside - the council in its wisdom thinks the site could be put to better use as flats. With all the empty warehouses being converted it can only be money behind their decision. Will be a great shame to lose this site and the revenues local services gain from it.

Pleasurable Stay January 2015

Would like to say how pleasurable it was to stay at this site with the current wardens making us feel most welcome. They were most helpful and informative. They are a credit to the Caravan Club. Such a contrast from our previous stays at this site. It is of course a pity this site is due to close after August 2015 where I understand the Bristol City Council are selling the land for private development. It will be a big loss to the club in such a central location with easy access to the city. This unfortunately will be difficult to replace. There are good local amenities close-by with an easy walk to the Marina Quay, SS Great Britain attraction and the City Shopping Centre within easy reach.

January 2015 - First Visit

This site is so well placed, it will be a shame if/when it closes. We have tried a few times to stay here, but as it’s so popular this was our first, and probably last visit. It has to be one of the best located sites on the network. Everything was spotless, and the wardens were extremely helpful. The walk into Bristol was a pleasant stroll along the river. A personal favourite was the Grain Barge opposite the site.

Sad to hear it is closing

Having stayed here on several occasions, it was sad to hear that the site will be closing in August of 2015. Bristol City Council owns the land upon which the site is located and has decided to close the site in order to build " a school". However, we heard from three different local sources that the site is to be sold for re-development to build flats and apartments. Whatever is built will mean the loss of one of the best sites in the UK.

So sad this site will be closing

We have used this site for many years to have short breaks in Bristol. It's so lovely, just a short stroll into city centre along the waterfront. It's always kept to a very high standard and the small improvements to remove grass strips between non-awning pitches was a wise move as there is now far more usable room. Bristol City Council I feel have a hidden agenda taking back this site, as it would be prime real estate land for waterfront flats. I think their plans for a school are probably a smoke screen? Locals do not want this site to go, those using the site do not want to see it close and as it is always almost full all year round (and a struggle to get in at any time) with no other site within miles of the city its just does not make sense. I am only glad that we have over the years been able to experience such a wonderful site.

Campervan visit January 2015

Excellent location for visiting Bristol with easy access from the Portway. An easy walk along the harbour side to the M Shed which is a very informative museum and then on to the city centre. It's such a pity that this popular site does not have many months left to provide the excellent city centre access.

Another visit to Baltic Wharf

This site must be a motorhomers dream. The nearness to the city of Bristol by either foot, water taxi or the normal bus. We walked in on the first day and enjoyed the exercise, the following day we caught the bus from outside the site into the centre of Bristol, what could be easier. A short bus ride from the city centre is the village of Clifton with its famous suspension bridge. If you feel energetic you can easily walk back from Clifton to the club site. As a site goes it is up to the usual site standards it was a pity that some light fingered club member decided that a shower head from the gents showers would be better placed in his unit rather than leave in place where it belonged. When the showers are 30? down it makes a diffence so thanks to the wardens for rectifying the situation quickly and thanks to the light fingered  club member - you know who you are!! What more can I say, the perfectly location club site, well managed but unfortunately soon to close, it will be sadly missed. We have booked our next visit to Baltic before it closes for good.

Great Site

Easiest site to book into. Relaxed helpful wardens on hand. This site needs to be kept open. Bristol City Council have no idea what income is generated by visitors to this location, spreading the word of why Bristol is a great destination for a break. Also the locals either side of the site prefer the peace and quiet of the site rather than yet another apartment block springing up in its place.

Christmas Treat

Had a lovely break. Have been coming to this site for a good few years and enjoy returning on a regular basis. Never disappointed with this site as it has everything for a good break. Look forward to returning again soon.
