Great site!

Stayed for two nights. Great site, very clean and tidy. Facilities are first class. Nice walk to local pub in Catsfield which serves good value meals. Battle is only a short bike ride away by road. Would definitely go back again.

A good base for exploring the area

We enjoyed our stay here. It's a lovely wooded site with generously sized pitches, and well maintained facilities. If we'd had more time to explore the site on arrival we'd probably have chosen one of the more secluded pitches. We were surprised and pleased to see wardens, Julie and Richard, who previously worked at the Crystal Palace site have now transferred to Battle. They are unfailingly friendly and helpful, and it's always lovely to see them again. We've rebooked another stay in September. The site is well positioned for anyone wanting to do local walks as part of the High Weald Walking Festival.

Introduction to motor homing!

This is one of our favourite sites for a few days away as it is only about 40 mins from home. A friend of ours recently bought a motorhome and we took him here to show him what the club sites are like, how they operate & how to use the equipment in his van. As usual the site was exceptionally clean and well kept with friendly, helpful staff. Despite being very busy, they still had time to help our friend with booking in for the first time and how to find his way around the site. Although at capacity, the site was very quiet and relaxing. The walk through the woods to the White Hart in Catsfield is always pleasant especially with a Sunday roast dinner when you get there. With the towns of Battle, Hastings & Eastbourne just a short drive away, this is a great little site

Another great site..

We have just returned from a week touring Sussex in our old Motorhome and this was our favourite site. Very friendly wardens, lovely pitch amongst the trees and spotlessly clean facilities. The walk onto Battle takes about an hour and goes through some lovely Sussex countryside. The town is very historical and we also visited the Abbey/battle site. Here we joined in with the guided tour of the battle site. It was very interesting due to our extremely knowledgeable guide Tim and well worth doing. We decided to get the bus back to Catfield and popped into the White Hart for a couple of pints of Harvey's!

Lovely Site Not For Us

Lovely site but not for us, just a wee bit to far away from everything. This site is as the previous reviewer said great for kids. If you like walking or cycling it’s ideal. This has nothing to do with the site, the site as you would expect from Caravan Club, nice, clean and tidy. Only little thing I would say the toilet blocks didn’t have a uniform time for cleaning, sometimes it was earlier/ or later so you just had to be vigilant. All in all we had a good stay…wardens were a bit sparse and would acknowledge you but didn’t seem to have much time to talk.

Wonderful site for children

Our eight years old grandson has just had a wonderful holiday here. There is a well equiped playarea for smaller children and an enclosed area with goal posts for football and cricket for the bigger ones. If we were on site he could always find some children to play with and the wooded wild areas around gave enormous scope for hide and seek. I don't understand the comments about long grass as we thought the wardens never stopped working. My only problem was on arrival we were told not to park up and walk round the site to find a pitch but to stick to the main road around the site from which you couldn't see any free pitches up the side turnings which you didn't want to go up as turning round was difficult.

Nice site

A nice site in a nice area, local walks on 1066 trail and into local village which has a nice pub The White Hart which is worth a visit. Trip out to Battle and Hastings - especially old town Hastings - both worth a visit, and a bit further afield Rye is a lovely quaint village to visit as is Winchelsea Beach. Site is maintained well although not as well as some CAMC sites. Some of the roads have potholes and we were there a week and the grass by our pitch wasn’t cut in that time. Toilets and laundry room all very clean. We had a super pitch so no problem locating an available pitch: if you book on a standard pitch I second the review below which advises you walk around before choosing your pitch. Lots of dead ends which may be hard to manoeuvre a caravan or motorbike back out of! The charm of the site is the layout, not rows of outfits but lots of little private areas.

Needs pitch allocations when running at full capacity!

On arrival queuing as everyone it appeared checking in at 1 to 1.30. We were given the choice of several pitches however so was everyone else and basically everyone was driving round and round the same parts looking for the available pitches and then forgetting to return to the office to tell the wardens which one they had eventually decided to choose. It was like a supermarket sweep! and this was a Wednesday mid week!. The problem being the site was fully booked and obviously due to wet weather the grass pitches were out of commission sadly. The warden advised that members had chosen to opt for where they wanted to pitch, however this may be workable when sites are not at full capacity but when they are I feel that the pitches should be allocated on arrival. The site is a clean and set in a perfect location and apart from the front carpark type pitches the rest were all good therefore people do not need a choice at this site! the covid cleaning in regard to closure of toilets worked well with keeping one set open. Would visit again, hopefully not sooo busy!

Nice site

First bit of advice would be to walk around to find your pitch, there are several dead ends and some pitches are awkward to reach. Some are quite dark and have quite a slope but overall a nice site. We were in the Stable area which is secluded and quiet, there were overhanging trees that required careful parking of our motorhome to avoid squeaking branches hitting the roof, however these pitches are nice and a suntrap. The wardens were, as always, helpful and friendly.
