1st time at Normanhurst

Welcome and explanations by staff very good. Lucky to find 2 adjacent pitches aided greatly by issue of site plan on arrival showing vacant areas.weather not great over our 5 days but this did not spoil the pleasures of this site which is well presented and very tidy. With present restrictions did not use any of the indoor facilities but all outdoor service points well looked after. Dog walk very handy ,or track off site good for a longer walk. All in all a site to return to.

Great first stay of the year

We stayed for 4 nights from 12th April. Site was extremely well kept with helpful wardens. A site that feels smaller due to the different areas. Good walks along the 1066 trail. Would recommend.

Beautiful Normanhurst

If you've not been to Battle Normanhurst you've missed a treat. In the grounds of the long since demolished Normanhurst Court, the tiered gardens make this large site seem small and cosy. It's maintained to a very high standard by the staff, who are very friendly, welcoming and organised. There are nice facilities for children and dog walkers. We will undoubtedly return.

Lovely location - a nervous dog’s haven!

We have just returned from a weekend stay. Our first trip away of many. The site was beautifully kept, quiet and the staff were helpful and friendly. After mentioning it was our first time touring the staff pointed out the easier to manoeuvre into spots, away from the playground for peace and quiet. Having a rather nervous border collie we were anxious that he would feel overwhelmed with all the other dogs there. There was no need. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, which most owners adhered to and when walked off the site the same measures are in place by the land owners. A little walk to the local pub was very enjoyable and we relished our first pub pint since lockdown measures eased. Yes, there were kids racing around on bikes, but didn’t we all do that when we were younger? For the most part we hardly ever heard them. We had the most relaxing peaceful time.

Enjoyable stay

Our two week stay just flew by thanks to the homely atmosphere created by the staff who were both caring and reassuring. Despite the extra work they were undertaking in view of the COVID situation they found the time to make us feel welcome by making the time to have a chat. Pride was taken in the upkeep of not only the facility blocks but also the grounds, the distancing markings being freshly painted. I appreciate the patience they have when dealing with trivial complaints such as the entry time, after all two way traffic with a caravan is impossible and the extra time taken in cleaning the toilet blocks, they are not responsible for the state they are left in. Congratulations on how they coped. Shopping locally in Battle the bakers and the butchers are both recommended for both quality and value. Whites Fish and Steak restaurant also in Battle which is dog friendly until; 6pm is well worth a visit.

Geocaching Trip

Spent five nights on this site mainly to go out Geocaching. Its a very nice site if for a motorhome user a bit far from most things a bit out in the middle of nowhere. The road that passes the site is a very fast road especially if like us you are on a bike so please take extra care. We did not use the toilet block due to it being a long way from our pitch plus the situation with the virus. Glad we have electric bikes as some of the local lanes have some steep hills on them. Rode down to Bexhill and has some nice cheesy chips on the sea front in a good old sea side cafe.

Great location

My wife & I had this site booked before COVID 19 hit us all. From arrival at the site on the 4th of September the duty wardens (Mark & Andrea) went out of their way to help us find a pitch near the disabled toilet at the top of the site. It was a brilliant pitch. Probably one of the best on the site. The facilities were what we have all come to expect from club sites, spotless & the plastic tub with wristbands in milton was a great idea. The site is close to Battle for visits to see where the Battle of Hasting took place. Hastings is about 20 minutes drive away. Great location. Will return at some point.

Our lovely break at Normanhurst Court

Just would like to thank the wardens again for their cheerful welcome and hard work in keeping everyone safe. Decided to take the chance of a 10 day break having been unable to use the caravan this year. We were so lucky with the weather and in getting a lovely open and sunny pitch. We used our own facilities in the van but I have no doubt the shower blocks were spotless as usual. We did however see several people going in without masks - please, please help to keep everyone safe and follow the rules. I have asthma but still wear a mask for the sake of others. On the site it felt like a little piece of heaven in a mad world! Thank you all.

Great location for visiting Battle and surrounding area

Found the site easily after following the Clubs directions. Secure covid check-in with instructions to drive round the site to find a suitable pitch. Please be aware that all roads lead to dead ends so the ability to reverse with a caravan is a must! Lots of trees meant that most pitches suffer from some shade which means less sun. We ended up on pitch 143 which would not have been our preferred choice. However, it turned out to be a pretty good spot as we got sunshine in the mornings and the van was cool in the evenings. This pitch is also away from the road so very quiet, if you don't mind other guests walking passed you as there is a path to the lower toilet block next to this pitch. Also, need to be careful when carrying pots etc to the wash rooms as there are a number of steps to tackle. All the facilities were clean and tidy although I did forget to report that there was no light outside the gents toilets which made finding the sanitised band difficult at night. No criticism of the Wardens but we had a pool of water in front of the van which increased in size during our stay. It looked unsightly and had algae growing in it. I understand this was caused by a drain leakage? Whatever the cause it needs to be addressed. I had reason to speak with the Wardens as I had a problem with the battery charger in my caravan and they were most helpful in loaning me a battery charger which helped me get through the last few days of our stay. Lovely site for visiting East Sussex.
