Lovely 5 night break

We came to this area of the Peak District in March for a birthday party and were so impressed with the area that we decided to come back for a stay in our caravan. This site location is perfect. The views are stunning with breath taking scenery, walking in the area is wonderful (both flat and up hills), there are several local pubs (Lazy Trout) and coffee shops close-by (the Roaches Tea rooms), and Leek is within easy reach. The site is clean and well maintained, and the wardens we met, though reasonably new to the area, were friendly, helpful and chatty. Our break was great - could only have wished for less rain!

first visit

My first visit to the site, and first outing of the year was all l could have wanted.Very friendly staff, clean, excellent facilities and plenty of walks from the entrance. Only downside was the neighbours using their field for motorbike trials ( not too bad for me as a biker, but might annoy some) and a lot of gunshots from the other side of the site on Saturday afternoon.I'm sure that this isn't a regular thing and gave me extra impetus to explore,so not a great problem . Would recommend and will revisit soon.

A definite favourite! 10/10

Our first visit to this site was Easter 2016. After a lovely warm welcome from The Wardens -and fresh local bakery produce- we were happily surprised to find huge pitches nicely spaced. The site is interesting and very well kept in all respects. TV reception is good. Very quiet and peaceful.  I've already booked another long weekend in May. The reservoir is worth a visit, also has what looks to be a nice tea room in the visitors centre. We fed the ducks but not ourselves, buy your bird food elsewhere, it's expensive from the visitors shop.    The dales are delightful, simply breathtaking beauty. We went to the Knights Table pub for lunch (near Flash village), very nice,  honest food reasonably priced.  We also went to The Harrington Arms in Bosley one day and had Tapas - brilliant! Very good portions (I had previously thought Tapas were always a rip off, not here that aren't). We'll be making this site a regular!

found it !!

all by myself and I not use a Sat Nav ,visited this site at Easter for the first time ,the roads are very long and winding ,very twisty and quite steep at times ,the site itself is in tiers I went to the top level so I could be near the shower block ,as I only have a tiny camper and need to use the facilities all the time ,I did realise that I may not get near to the lower shower block which isn't ideal for me ,also the reservoir is Not a short walk away it's a mile but the road is downhill and with no footpath not very ideal for anyone with less mobility ,as I visited this site when the weather was very poor it will be nice there in the summer ,pub nearby seems pricey ,

Lovely peaceful well run site

This was our first outing as caravanners and couldn't praise the wardens and staff enough for their patience and help. Lovely quiet site with excellent amenities and all on the edge of the peaks.  We enjoyed it so much we are going back in early summer.

Now a favourite site

With easy access, happy wardens, huge pitches, good dog walk, updated shower blocks these made our stay a happy one however the low water pressure in the top shower block was annoying when there was more than 1 person using either the showers or basin taps, we got around this by showering any time other than early morning

Fantastic location

When we booked this site, because we were joining friends there, I thought it was expensive. Well worth the money, it's a beautiful sight with the most enormous pitches. You could chose your own,we moved once as it wasn't very level, our fault as we're lazy with levelling blocks on motorhome, but no problem.walks from here are amazing, the roaches awesome, and a lovely farmhouse coffee shop up there. No hurry to make us leave on last day, lovely wardens, a truly lovely break. Three horseshoes  across the way serves a good pub meal, and Leek on a Saturday has the best market this side of the continent!
