Brilliant Site

Second visit to this site and again not disappointed with our stay, we had a grass pitch on this visit but the weather was good for the 2 weeks we were there apart from one day it rained but no problem with the ground. Shower block facilities were good and always clean. Snack vans that came to the site on certain evenings were good and a welcome break from cooking. Site is close to the town of Burford and other lovely villages in the Cotswolds and surrounding area. Cotswold Wildlife Park is a must see attraction and if you like aviation at all RAF Brize Norton isn't too far away. Brilliant site and well worth a visit, we will be going back.

JUST BRILLIANT

Fantastic site, with great facilities - Really friendly staff (Especially Ann, we loved her!) Great for dogs - lovely attention to detail like the stick library for dogs or herb garden. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great site , no gold WiFi

This is the second time we have stopped at the site ( May) and September. It’s a lovely site with great wardens however it is advertised as a gold WiFi site and the site has very poor WiFi. The warden said they still had an issue with WiFi, it is up to the Club to either provide the gold WiFi or inform members of the lack of WiFi. On our recent visit it was important to get a WiFi signal.We pay £ 30 annual subscription. Members may be booking a seasonal pitch next year based on this , so be warned there WiFi issues . Will they be rectified shortly? This is a great family site next to the Wildlfe park and close to Burford and the surrounding Cotswolds lots of places to visit locally.

Maiden Voyage

We sought a site within a 90-minute drive from home. We wanted to be close to interesting places to visit. And a site that had good facilities and had received good reviews from club members. It was a special trip; it was the maiden voyage for our new caravan and tow car. Before, we had toured in a motorhome but changed to a caravan. We wanted more comfort and the ability to explore. Burford was within the desired distance from home. And is accessible by several different routes. This was important. As the first time out, we wanted a stress free journey on roads sympathetic to caravan towing. The way we chose was the wrong one. We arrived via the north, which caught us in traffic, looking to visit the Cotswold Wildlife Park. No-fault of the site, a consequence of a sunny day, school holidays and staycation. Still, it did add 40 minutes to the journey. And the frustration that there would have been zero delays if we had taken the southern route via Lechlade. Arrival check-in and pitch selection were all straightforward. Being novices, we may have parked too close to the kids play area - but it wasn't very noisy at all. There was plenty of distance between ourselves and the pitches on either side of us. We liked our spot as it felt more wooded. Water and waste services were not far away and about midpoint to the toilets and showers. The paths were adequately lit at night too. Although, I did take a wrong turn on the first night and mistakenly took a moonlit tour of the site. More an issue of the large Captain Morgan's that had been consumed than anything else. Overall our maiden voyage couldn't have been better.

Fabulous site

We stayed here at the beginning of the summer holidays. The site was beautiful. Grass pitches were well maintained and the shower block clean and tidy. Wardens friendly and helpful. Loved the site - will definitely we returning. Recommend the Rose & Crown in Shilton.

Camp site

The site it’s self is very clean level pitches the toilets and showers were spotless lovely site safe for little ones the shop could have a bit more stock ie bread milk butter but the staff in the shop were very friendly and helpful The only downside was the poor WiFi signal so no tv But overall a lovely place would recommend it and we’re going back again soon

Overnight stop

We have been to this site many time previously, as it's close to family. This time was just an overnight stay to break our journey from Cornwall & pick to up our Grandaughter. Excellent site, usual club standards, clean shower block etc... Great helpful wardens.. definitely not our last visit here...

Lovely site

Easy access. The site is lovely and flat, clean shower blocks and the gardens well kept and pitches well spaced out. The shop is very basic. However, beware if you have a serviced pitch as they are not all equal. We picked our pitch as it was an end one thinking it would be ideal as we had a visitor staying overnight and we thought it would be ideal. Unfortunately we had unhitched and levelled before we realised the services were not next to the caravan. We parked exactly where we were told to and our 25 metre electric cable wouldn’t reach! We managed to do it just, by slinging the cable under the van so be warned. The tv cable was 25m away too, the fresh water was closer but again not directly next to the van. Only the grey waste was next to the van. As you are unable to select your pitch before arrival make sure you take extra long cables/pipes with you. There is a good discount for the wildlife park which is next door and within walking distance. It’s mostly very quite but you can occasionally hear the animals from the park and the aircraft going over from RAF Brize Norton but it didn’t bother us. All the staff were very helpful except one who was quite bristly and he tutted when I asked for refund. But in general they were all very pleasant and helpful. I would go back as the surrounding area is beautiful and there is plenty to do.

Relaxing but with plenty to do

As the title said, this site is very relaxing but still has plenty to do in the area. The wardens were all very pleasant, helpful and were working very hard on this busy site. As has been previously mentioned the Cotswold Wildlife Park is literally opposite the entrance to the caravan site and even I (with an arthritic hip) managed to walk around the park and to and from the site, great for the family. There are also many other interesting attractions in the area, Burford is a lovely typical Cotswold town, don’t forget to go off the main roads and look at some of the little villages which are very picturesque and have some superb pubs (with food)! It is also a site to spot the types of aircraft which land and take off from Brize Norton, although only 5 miles away they do not disturb the peace. If you are someone who enjoys aircraft spotting the Fairford International Air Tattoo takes place each July which is very close by. We will return as there are still things we did not see. We found that The Cotswolds Arms in Burford offered a 10% discount on food if you showed your membership card - great food as well!

Be aware of traffic congestion through Burford, it can be fairly heavy coming from the A361 through the town and again when turning into the lane to the site which is also the turning for the wildlife park.

Excellent for families.

Proximity to Cotswolds Wildlife Park in underrated, it is literally on the other side of the road, we could even hear some of the animal noises (very faintly) from our van at night. You can get discounted tickets from the Wardens which are cheaper than buying them online. This site also has a dedicated ball games area and a fab park, our children are 7, 11 and 15 and spent hours in this area during our stay. For them, this will now be the benchmark for other sites! We will definitely be back. :-)
