Nice site

Arrived after dark which was not great . The cut De sac nature of the site and lack of lighting made it a bit difficult to fond an accessible pitch but we managed. Overall a nice area to stay in with easy access to Buxton Bakewell and Matlock. Toilet block needs updating but from earlier reviews this seems all in hand. Be a pity to loose the site in the lovely location.

Toilet block Dated.

This is an excellent site but sadly the toilet block etc is dated, inadequate and in need of upgrade and I have made the Caravan Club aware of this. It transpires that the lease expires shortly and the local council and the CC cannot at this moment agree to an extended lease agreement. The CC want to upgrade the toilet block as they have done at Carsington Water but are not prepared to put money into the Site if a long term lease agreement cannot be reached. As a result upkeep of the Site is being kept to a minimum. Members may not be aware but if an agreement cannot be reached then this CC Site may be become defunct. Having spoken with the regional management responsible for Buxton who was responding to my email, I am hope full through the monthly magazine that they will publish in full the current situation, so that all members are aware of this predicament that the CC find themselves in. This is an excellent site in an idyllic location. A site that the CC cannot and should not allow to be closed.

Fantastic!!!!

On arrival we were greeted by the most helpful lady in England. She was pleasant, very helpful and informative. We were able to choose our pitch and got ourselves set up. We were told to look out for the trick or treat tractor at 8pm as it was Haloween. My daughter was very excited. That evening after a fantastic relaxing day we awaited the tractor. Bang on 8 pm a bell was ringing and the trick or treat tractor came round the corner with 3 staff members dressed up and dishing out sweets to the kids. Totally unexpected but what a fantastic touch. All the kids were following it round.  The site toilets and washing facilities were spotless and the bins were emptied regularly. We will definitely return to Buxton caravan park.

Lovely Site

Great site close to Buxton and to fantastic walking on doorstep. Good for families too as the Monsal cycle trail is not far and the Go Ape facility is next door along with other attractions. Team at the site were excellent, even laying on a "Trick or Treat" wandering tractor with costumed characters, which handed out sweets to the kids.

Enjoyable autumn stay

Very nice stay.  Site was well looked after.  Toilets were very clean and we thought they were perfectly adequate apart from the shower not being very powerful.  Just added a few minutes on to the showering time so not a big problem.  Had no problem with phone signal and accessing Wi-Fi on my phone (vodafone network). Even had my husband's tablet tethered to it. Wardens very helpful and welcoming.  Great site to go for visiting the Peak District which was so picturesque at this time of year. A drive through the nearby Goyt Valley on the way back from Lyme Park (National Trust) was well worth while to see all the amazing autumn colours.

Nice site

We spent three nights at this site and it started with an efficient and pleasant welcome when we arrived onsite.  The pitches were quite well spaced and well kept and we found one in a corner that suited us.  The location of the site is great and the rock escarpment running along the back was and interesting and sheltering feature.  Being to the north of the site meant that it shouldn't block the sun much.  Unfortunately we don't know for sure as there was no sun when we were there. The shower and toilet block is well kept but a little tired.  Not bad enough to stop us wanting to visit again though and everything worked.  We noticed a planning application for the refurbishment and extension of the facilities so it seems matters are in hand. A small criticism is that the gents showers run a little slowly (fair enough to save water) but the fixed shower heads means the water stays very close to the wall. You have to lean in close to to one side at a time often burning yourself on the hot down pipe.  This could easily be remedied by moving the shower heads further out from the wall and I hope this is taken into account during refurbishment.  The walks through the country park into Buxton are great.  Not too long and you feel like you have earned your drink or meal when you get there.  Two good beer guide pubs including the Cheshire Cheese at which we had an excellent Sunday roast lunch at 2 for £15.  we needed the walk back after these.

Great location

Really good location for exploring Buxton by foot. Also near lots of great walks and a short drive from many of the peak district attractions.

Beware Rocks!

First of all I'd like to say that the staff at this site are always extremely friendly and helpful. The site is at the bottom of an old quarry and so the site is mainly a concrete road with stone pitches. There is a lack of 'greenery' for my liking, it has a car park feel to it to me - but that is my taste and lots of people will like the site's look. All the facilities are immaculately clean. Now to the rocks! There are some small areas of grass between pitches and at the sides of some of the road but small boulder-like rocks have been placed purposely to stop cars driving onto the grass. Unfortunately they are very close to the road and it can make it awkward on some pitches to try to reverse your caravan in. I found this out to my peril as I scraped my car below the sill area which will cost me £300 to fix. I don't really think that these stones are necessary for the amount of grass they are protecting and most of the grass would be safe anyway. So beware the rocks!

Great site

We had a great short stay at Buxton. It was brilliant for the dog with good walks in the adjacent country park. It was our first stay in the Peaks and we will definitely be back and stay at Buxton again. The site and facilities were good and clean, even in Autumn. Wi fi was good if expensive and TV reception was OK despite being told it wasn't . We will be back.
