Lovely site

We recently stayed her weekend of the 3&4th October. They site is great for peace and quite the kids love it as we pitch near the play area, lovely walks from the site and can even walk into Buxton. The only complaint is and it's nothing to do with the wardens is the people who don't have there digs on a lead and let them roam around people's vans!! And we watch one lady who had to dogs walking her dogs around the CHILDRENS play area to do there business rather than taking them if site to do it. Its members like that that ruin it for all other respectable dog owners and gives them a bad name.

Peaceful and friendly

We stayed at this site for first time 30th Sept. to 5th Oct. We are a retired couple with touring caravan. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were lucky enough to have fine weather. The site is very well sheltered and a sun trap on warm days. Many walks and beautiful views. Unfortunately due to family problems we had to leave a day early and this we regretted. So we will be back as soon as we can.

long weekend

We really enjoyed our stay. We had originally booked 2 nights but stayed an extra night. The wardens were very helpful and the facilities were very clean. There was a fish and chip mobile store on site on Saturday evening. We enjoyed a stroll around Buxton and a walk up to Solomon ' s temple. The site was very relaxing and peaceful. We will definately be returning

Picturesque and peaceful

We spent 2 weeks at Buxton 15-29 Sept and enjoyed every minute. We were on pitch 5 and had no problem with phone or wifi reception. Site clean & tidy, wardens helpful and full of smiles. lovely walking into Buxton from the site. Country park next door so lots of open air space. loads to do, National Trust houses nearby, good walking in the Goyt Valley, lovely old towns and markets. A truly beautiful part of the UK and one that we will happily return to.

Lovely site , brilliant for dog owners

We have stayed on this site several times, as it is local to us. The site is set in an old quarry, but is now well established with mature trees and shrubs. The usual high standard of cleanliness and welcoming wardens make this a pleasant site to stay at. Pitches are mainly flat, although the there are some slightly sloping ones near the toilet block. Phone signal is very poor, but we like having an excuse not to be disturbed! If you need to make a call, a short walk out the site entrance and a couple of minutes up the lane gets me adequate signal to make a call. The Grin low country park is right by the entrance to the site, and easily accessible on foot. There are many good walks from the site including woodland walks, and the short walk upto the viewpoint of Solomans temple. Buxton centre is a short drive away, providing entertainment at the Opera House, plenty of eateries, a pleasant shopping area within the cavendish arcade,  and functional shopping for basic needs in the spring gardens area. Pavilion gardens are worth a visit, especially if you have children.....a couple of good play areas, a minature railway and ducks to feed.

Peaceful

Very nice, quiet site. Facility block usual high CC standard. Nice little office with basic requirements, papers and pasties to order. :-)    Only downside for us was, as there is minimal telephone signal, I had to rely on WiFi, this was hopeless, way too slow to be of any use. Wardens cited full occupancy, full load?? Even at 2 in the morning I couldn't answer emails. You also need a TV aerial lead, feed from the post is very good.

Great Stay

It was our first time at this site and found it to be a great location. You can walk through the woods to Buxton, but wouldn't advise coming back at night. There was a Fish & Chip van that came on the Saturday night and cook fresh your fish and chips while you wait. Will definitely go back.

Enjoyable stay.

We only stayed for two nights to break the journey home. The toilet block is in need of refurbishment, very dated but clean. Don't turn up if there are others backing up in the designated arrivals area as you will be ordered to move by an officious panicking lady warden. Where to I'm not sure, but I did offer to "beam up" if it would help. Not the best introduction. Otherwise a quiet site with an easy walk over the river into town. Great for visiting the area.

Definitely be going back!

This was our first time ever in our new motor home so we picked somewhere relatively close to try everything out.  We didn't expect to get so lucky, lovely site, friendly wardens and while yes the water pressure isn't great and the showers/toilets need an up grade so what!! We were late arriving due to the sat nav (don't worry we will NEVER follow it again when driving a rather large and ungainly  motor home!) but still they got us a pitch with no issues. Its quiet as its down in the bowl of the old quarry which is amazing. Buxton is about 30mins walk away (and yes its not a bad walk on the way there - on the way back be aware its very much uphill). Had a lovely meal in No Thirteen which was lush and a few pints in the Sun Inn. On the whole a great first trip at a lovely site. We will be back.
