Good for families

Arrived 4pm, had a booking, they sent us away

Reason: We have more than 2 dogs. Greyhounds. It is nowhere written that only 2 dogs are allowed. Neither in the club book nor on the Internet. They said: It is not possible that more dogs than people are on the campsite. Thanks, after 4 hours of driving this is what we wanted to hear. Btw. We've been touring Europe and the UK for 10 months now - Damage Barton was the only campsite that sent us away.

GTPeter why are you so reluctant to tell us how many dogs you have?

He probably knows he'll be making a target of himself on here.

Does it matter? More than two is all we need to know in relation to this tale.

So here is an answer: not one single clubsite asked us within the last few weeks about dogs. Thats why I did not checked the AS. As I said: my fault. Will never book one.

But there is another reason...

Whenever we came to a CS, all the people around us were  honest happy with the Greyhounds and the two leading Pugs. They all are well trained. The dogs not the people :0).

They do not bark or running around or making stress in any WAy. And usually we have the Kids from the Neigbours sitting in the gras with the sleeping Greys.

We rescue heavy mistreated and heavy injured Greyhounds from Spain.

So far so good.

Off course DB does not know that. BUT when they say „we are extremely dog friendly“ and „dog walk on site“ etc. one does not expect that this is limited.

To all the Clubmembers who know it better because they read everything before they book a site :o): We are on the road now for nearly a year. Switzerland Germany Italy Portugal Spain France UK... We had no problems until now. And I never read any T&C. Why? Because I had all information BEFORE I made a booking. You see...?

I expect that Campsites or AS give ALL the informations about dogs on the webpage and in the book. Not just hidden somewhere in any legal texts. That would be fair, right.

But to me the problem is solved.

We all learned something and we know what we have to change to make the booking process better.

I was there at the same time.  They have 6 dogs.  Although they wernt allowed onsite at DB with that amount of dogs in one unit, the lady on reception was very apologetic and even phoned a neighbouring CAMC site on their behalf and booked them in there.

Thanks for the clarity Ronnie, I would have marked the site review up for the help that the wardens gave.

I have come across a number of non club sites with the same restriction on dogs, some of which do not charge for dogs.

As certain members repeatedly say you join the the club so abide by its rules, or words to that effect.  In this case DB is an affiliate (not a CC Ltd site) with its own rules and when booking you agree to abide by those rules.   The rules they clearly publish contain this:

PETS: Maximum of 2 pets per unit. They must be kept under
owner’s control at all times and exercised off the entire site
and entrance area. Dog paddocks and bins are provided and
our site leads on to the local footpath network. Please clean
up after your pet wherever you are. Please obtain the
information for dog owners from reception.

It may seem harsh but they were just sticking to their rules.

I hope you were quickly able to find an alternative site.

Interesting that if it had been a cc site your  response would have been so Positive  towards the owner as per the rulesundecided

Although I no longer have a dog, i would NEVER go to a site that didnt allow dogs onsite or charged an exorbitant amount to discourage dogs.

If Affiliates dont agree or abide by CMC rules, they shouldnt be in the Club sites book. IMO.

Damage Barton is a Site I will avoid in future, more sites for dog haters.
