Another great sya

This is a lovely well maintained site.....ideal for where we live, as wanted a New Year break without being too far away in case of bad weather. Wardens are very friendly. Tried a different pitch this time..39...loads of sun...robins and woodpecker is trees...amazing!! Only downside was council gritter trucks leaving at all hours but didn’t spoil our stay. Highly recommend this site..we’ll be back

Excellent site

Excellent site lovely wardens and very clean facilities. A helpful comment would be that a path could be laid from the service point that backs on to the road that services plots 12 to 15 this would stop people cutting across the grass to the service point it’s understandable that members do this as it’s a long walk using the road. Just a thought

Always clean and welcoming

This is my 'go to' site. It is less than 10 miles from home. It is where I go to try out new gear but it is also one of my favourite sites. The ammenities block is always spotless. the site is well maintained. The staff arealways extremely helpful and polite. There are some lovely walks in the area. Durham via many varied routes starting at around 3 miles, or if you want to be adventurous you can walk to the coast using paths accessed from within 1/2 mile of the site. Durham itself is a really beautyful city and has plenty of shopping and sight seeing. This site is one of the jewels in the crown. More than just a convebient 'transit site'.

First Timers....not just to site but to caravanning!!

We have only just acquired a touring caravan and wanted to try it out instead of just putting into storage and then not knowing what to do on our first outing!! We only live down the road but decided we would pitch up her and give it a go. The site itself is immaculate, great shower/toilet block and plenty of room between pitches. Wardens are helpful, as are all the other people on site. We had never even emptied a cassette toilet before but, thanks to the help of another visitor (Deborah) we managed. The site is ideally placed for Durham City, Beamish Museum, etc. We ended up staying the maximum 3 weeks in total.....popping to work and then returning in the evening - unfortunately, we couldn't do anything about the rain!! Was great to have the Fish & Chip van on a Friday night.....although no sign of it last Friday. Most takeaways in Belmont (or in the area) are happy to deliver to site and you can pick up from the barrier. If they read this, a big thank you to the wardens, Deborah & Malcolm (from Norfolk), the gentleman from Consett (lorry driver) who let us watch him hitch up, or was it Crook (sorry) and the lovely couple (from Leicester) who helped us as we hitched up on Saturday (19th October) morning. We're looking for somewhere to stay for New Year and, in view of the north east weather, will probably book here. A great site. Highly recommend. Many thanks, Helen & Mark x

Lovely Little Site

We stayed here twice within a week, once on the way south and on the way back. It’s a great location, just off the A1, and therefore there is Road noise, but nothing excessive. There is a small dog walk on site, but a longer one, to Durham, just out of the main gate. The facilities are first class, as you would expect, and the wardens very friendly.

Pleasant site

Pleasant site with what you expect from such sites. If sight seeing in Durham the park and ride is just a few minutes away and recommend it as I saw queuing at car parks in Durham. It is just off the A1 and would recommend you take care with sat nav. Coming from north it is a simple right turn at junction roundabout but mine took me left for a detour through Belmont village. Yes, there is some road noise but I am afraid I have no time for those that think it is enough to moan about!

DURHAM

Last stayed here in JULY 2001 just before the club purchased it The site was then owned by the council. At the time i wrote in the visitors book the sooner the club purchased it the better. Excellent toilet block pitch's set out a lot different and lot more tree's yes there is a lot of road noise but you know that when you book. Well looked after site. Easy to get to P&R to durham close by and very cheap. Good access to lot's of place's

Still a good site to visit.

We have been here 4 times this year & we like it, yes like everyone else we used it as a stop over giving us a chance to relax for a few days but its i a nice site, the traffic noise never got loud enough to bother us, ok i agree with the few there is sometimes a log jam for the showers but timing is everything. the grounds & pitches are well maintained, The staff are friendly & for once we found the other campers willing to chat, The fish & chip van appeared at the gate one night so we treated our self's, the fish was nice (but nothing like my local shop) but the chips were bland & greasy. And finally if you get a chance try the eggs from the reception we bought 12 & ended up wanting more they were so yummy (expensive for eggs but worth it), In a nutshell we will be back, don't know when but soon i hope :-)

Lovely site, shame about the road noise

Stayed here for 3 nights before heading further north. Very pleasant site with friendly wardens who keep it spotless. Just a shame about the road noise. The dog walk is not very big but if you go out of the site and turn right at the top of the road there is a walk that takes you down to the river and on to Durham itself. A map is available from reception. The site seems to be used mainly as a stopover with plenty of daily movement. Despite the noise we would stay here again. I have uploaded a video of a drive around tour of the site on Youtube.

Lovely site but.....

Durham Grange is a lovely site, however it is situated extremely close to the A1M, making traffic noise a real issue. The site is very clean & the staff friendly. Close to Durham city with Beamish museum within easy reach. Nice site, so a shame it’s spoilt by the road noise.
