Having relations in the north east the Grange is the ideal site for us, being just off the A1 and A690 traffic can be heard but doesn't cause a problem. We have stayed here several times and have always found the site very clean and tidy, the toilet block is a credit to the wardens. The wardens have always been very helpful if we have needed any questions answered. We would recommend this site to anyone.
Shame about the wardens
Stayed here from 17th December, on arrival amazed site was virtually empty but chose a good pitch but found nearby CEP was not to be used - incorrect label from icy conditions 2 weeks earlier - perfectly OK for our 15 night stay!! No change to label even after complaint to Warden!! Road noise a little obtrusive but Dog walking by the River Weir & the locality brilliant, our Cocker loved it!! No support from Warden when Wifi failed, not even a number for AirAngels just a boast of how good the dongle was in his Motorhome! Amazed when a different warden warden left motorhome water tap running in below zero temp!! No gritting at all done despite a very icy period. Overall site 9 Wardens 2.
I do need to mitigate this by a subsequent call from Sue, a warden, who organised the return of one of our Tracker fobs somehow left on site on our departure
New Year at Durham Grange
just spent a week on Durham Grange.
Smashing. quiet. peaceful, apart from a bit of road noise. Wardens good. friendly, helpful Park and ride good. will be back.
Excellent location
This site is well located for A1 access and park and ride into Durham. Facilities and wardens up to usual CC standards. Despite being close to A1 road noise is minimal. Thoroughly recommended.

Durham Grange in winter
Having family in the north east this was our second visit to this handy well kept site over the christmas / new year period. As usual the site was clean and tidy and the wardens friendly....However, we arrived on the 28th December to find the roads around the site were like an ice rink of black ice and the kids play area was unusable, again due to the ice that covered it. although it was clear that there was a bin containing grit and rather embarrassingly the local gritting depot for the council is right next door i was shocked to find no grit was put out during the whole duration of our stay. although it is good that there are sites available all year long surely more effort should be made to keep the site as usable and safe as possible this was a shame as Durham Grange is a great little site.
1st Club Site
Getting to the site could not be easier, about 300m from A1M. Reception excellent, very friendly.
Toilet/shower block spotless, water nice and hot. Public footpath only 100m from site so good for walking our dog.
City of Durham only 10 minutes from site.
Only 20 minutes from Coast, dog friendly beach at Seaburn.
Overall I would recommend this site and we'll be going back at some point.
