Should have read the small print on the site pdf as the grass pitches were closed and open up subject to local planning rules so we missed out on these nice pitches and only had a choice of one hardstanding or a tent pitch next to the water treatment plant. There are a lot of seasonal pitches on the hardstandings so choice is limited if the grass is out of action. We've been before and the site is well cared for with some nice views. There's a flat stroll along the river Exe via the gate in the pub car park, little riverside beaches can be found on this route. The site managers have produced some good walking sheets for longer walks, these are in the information room. We didn't get to the pub this time round, it has good outdoor space and riverside seating, there was a notice outside saying open from 12pm but they were closed for a wake, so we were out of luck on that too!
If you like those spacious grass pitches ring the site managers first, we found out too late.
