Lovely site, good for small dogs

This is a great site. Very tidy and well laid out. We picked it mainly because of the secure fenced dog area so that we could exercise our dog off lead. However we were slightly disappointed as the fence was only 3ft high (2ft in places) and our dog easily jumped it to chase a rabbit. (Loads of rabbits everywhere!) This was next to a deep river on one side and a busy road on the other. It could have ended badly. Luckily we got him back safely but felt we couldn’t risk letting him off lead again. Please be warned if you have a large dog who chases anything. Higher fencing would be brilliant and we would go back if this was installed. A bigger shop with more choice would be good too.

Disappointed this year

We have been staying at this site for many years visiting frequently. It was one of our favourite sites with large grass pitches and great views. However, for some reason this year the pegs marking the grass pitches have been moved from the hedges up to 6 metres towards the roads so that caravans are backing in to the peg, as required by the club. This means that the site feels overcrowded and has lost some of it's charm. Not sure why this has been done but I hope that next time we visit common sense will prevail.

Excellent site and wardens

We arrived on the first day of reopening in 2021 and it was nice to know which pitch we had pre-booked (a one off offer following the easing of lockdown). The wardens were very friendly and we were allowed to place the caravan front in, in order to be able to benefit from the lovely views from the serviced pitches - not all pitches have such lovely views. The dog walking area was excellent - large secure area with plenty of ball throwing in what is essentially a field. The site is ideally placed to explore Exmoor although the pot holes on entry from the main road need to be navigated around. A trip to Wimbleball lake is a must as is the local Anchor Inn lovely food although the service was a little slow. We had to ask for the bill three times but we were advised that this was down to being reopening week and they were not sure how many people would visit and more staff were starting the following week. This was a secure site and our daughter met some children of her own age and we were happy to allow her to play away from the pitch during our stay. The only drawback was that not al guests followed the Covid precautions by not using the bands to indicate that the facilities were being used. Appreciate that this is not down to the club but the members - come on everyone otherwise the facilities may be forced to close

Wonderful Site

This was our 4th visit to the site when we stayed for 8 days in October. Booking in was quick, and the welcome was friendly. Available pitches were highlighted on the plan, and Covid measures explained clearly. The majority of grass pitches were closed during our visit. After a busy summer and a lot of wet weather, most were water logged and well worn, so this was a good decision from the wardens. There were only a few hardstanding pitches to choose from as the site was busy, but they are all a good size and flat, so this wasn't a problem. The facilities are excellent, and were cleaned twice a day. As on most other sites, the wristband system worked faultlessly. The site is adjacent to the main road, so some vehicle noise was obvious during the day, but the road was very quiet at night. Lots of places to visit within an hours drive. We went to Putsborough Sands, Hunters Inn and Dunster. I would recommend a walk around Wibleball Lake (9 miles) and better still, Clatworthy Reservoir which was stunning on a gorgeous autumn day. Its a 5 mile walk, but you won't be able to take the dog. Thank you for a graet stay. We will be back!

Exmoor Magic

Our recent 6 night stay at Exebridge ( Oct 202) was a delight. The site is so well located to enable Exmoor to be enjoyed with stunning walks and cycle rides. We made the most of good weather and we’re out and about everyday. It was so lovely to return each afternoon to superb facilities ( even a bike washing hose and gravel area to do this), wonderfully clean shower facilities and an abundance of hot water. The whole site was immaculate ( and Covid-19 secure) and the wardens always available for any assistance or help needed. We stayed on both a standard and serviced pitch, both of which were nicely private, very flat and all we needed. We look forward to staying here again though shall be disappointed that the wonderful wardens will have then retired.

We love this site but..........

We stayed at Exebridge Lakeside for 10 nights in September. We have been there many times before during peak school holiday times but never seen it so busy but we appreciate that this is down to Covid. The wardens were very welcoming, helpful and friendly but clearly one set of wardens is not enough for a site of this size. There used to be 2 sets of wardens up until a couple of years ago. The maintenance of the beautiful grounds was not up to scratch. The bushes were too high and blocking the view, our grass was not cut properly and the place felt a little overgrown. The main toilets were always clean and there were no queues for showers but many people were using onboard facilities due to Covid 19. However, one time when I needed to use the service toilet it was in such a disgusting state I had to walk away and wait until the main block was open. The other thing to mention is that we noticed several seasonal pitches that were in prime locations on hard standings. We had a job to get booked in and although we arrived shortly after 12 we got the very last hard standing pitch. We have never had a problem getting a hard standing pitch at Exebridge before. This site is our favourite and we hope you find our comments helpful.

Exceeded all expectations

We stayed at this site by default but so pleased we did. Very generous sized hardstanding pitches. The facilities were immaculate and well maintained. Great access to Exmoor and a local pub. It was the small touches such as being able to help yourself to herbs and friendly staff that made our stay. Covid measures very well planned and implemented. Can't wait to return.

Excellent

We chose this site as it was the only one that had any availability within the distance we wanted to travel. This is a tiered site with a mixture of hard standing and grass pitches (some seasonal). Lovely views up the valley towards Dulverton from the higher pitches. Toilet block is situated on the middle tier - no service point on the upper tier so if you are a little less able, you will need to be able to drag your full water carrier up a short sharp incline. Great dog walk on site. Good location for visiting Exmoor. Only down side - very limited safe walking from the site (in my humble opinion).

Exebridge stay in September.

We stayed here for 4 nights and really should have stayed longer, we found a big hard starting pitch when we arrived. We stayed on pitch number 16 and at times you could hear some road noise but not to the extent to annoy you. Lovely views very friendly and helpful wardens. Shower and toilets are kept immaculately clean. As is the whole site. Big field to walk your dog and there’s a path that goes past the lakes leading to a pub. Overall a great site, one we’ll be returning to in the future.

Scenic Beauty

Only had two nights at this lovely site, wish it was longer but we will return. Nice big flat hardstanding pitches although grass available if you prefer. We stayed on the top terrace which had some noise from the nearby road but nothing troublesome and more than made up for by the outstanding country views. Normal standard club facilities kept spotlessly clean by the wonderful wardens. You can walk through a gate at the bottom of the site into the local fishing lakes and beyond to the local pub by the river.
