The site that has it all (for us anyway)

We have been motorhoming around England and Wales for 8 years. Typically we stay at club sites of this club and the other one; also some independent sites that feature in Best British Campsites booklets. Exebridge Lakeside is the first site to meet or exceed all the things that are important to us. In increasing order of importance to us, they are: - well maintained site - level pitches - clean and reasonably modern toliet/shower facilities block - views of surrounding landscape, with panoramic views of hills - a large enclosed dog field - friendly staff, whose pride of their site is apparent - a dog-friendly homely pub 5 minutes walk away - with choice of ales and reasonably priced meals, available lunchtimes and evening Exebridge Lakeside has it all. We can fully recommend this site to anyone with similar priorities to ours, as set out above

Last minute booking

Needed a site urgently for the weekend on the first day site opened. Booked in with no trouble at all on a FS pitch. Check-in was easy. Site staff were all very friendly. In fact as we were setting up a lovely lady brought our barrier key over, saving me a trip back to let her know where we were pitched. Facilities were spotless. Site was quiet but not full, so could be noisier when busy. Nearby road to Minehead can be heard but was no where near as noisy as we expected it to be. There is a dog walk on site and a short walk along the river (opposite the pub). Otherwise there is no where to walk directly from the site. Lots of places to visit by car nearby. 4g signal good on O2 and EE. TV signal not too bad but didn't pick up all channels. There are TV boosters on the posts.

Relaxing stay

Stayed for six nights on a service pitch, enjoyed it so much already booked for a week next year. Surrounded by lovely countryside, pitched nose in facing the views. Good flat spacious hardstanding pitches. Excellent facilities, good Wifi , dog walking and kids play area. Nice walk from the site past the fishing lakes to the local pub next to the river with a bridge that spans the border between Devon and Cornwall. Very friendly wardens who kept the site spotless.

Pretty packed in late September, but good facilities and friendly helpful staff

My first stay at a CMC site and I was rather taken aback at the "serried ranks" of white boxes - but then, I had been glad to find a pitch anywhere on or near Exmoor at short notice in late September of this second pandemic year. Apart from that, a nice site, friendly helpful staff, clean facilities which didn't seem to be over-subscribed despite the numbers on site, and a nice dog walk. It was a bit of a trek - and a wiggly one - to get out onto the moors each day, so if your aim is Exmoor walking, other locations might be preferable (if not fully booked.) WiFi was mostly poor to woeful, but the site was very packed so probably only to be expected. I had a Vodafone signal so actually used my mobile data more than the WiFi. (I usually buy WiFi to save using mobile data, or if there is no mobile signal.)

Fabulous site & fantastic dog run

This is a shining example of a well kept club site. The wardens are doing an amazing job despite not having had any help for 6 months. The facilities were spotless and the grounds kept extremely clean & tidy. There is a large field where dogs can run off lead. My young whippet cross was in her element. There is a riverside pub a 5 minute stroll away past fishing lakes. Unfortunately my timing was bad & it was shut for maintenance while I was there. Better luck next time!

Super camping trip.

Just spent the weekend camping, what a fantastically run site. All the grounds well cared for spotless toilet block no matter what time of day you use it. The most friendly lady on reception, fantastic. We have driven past many times going to Dulverton, we have already booked a pitch here with the van for next year. Quite, peaceful + countryside all around what more do you need. O, did I mention there's a pub close by on the river....😂

Peaceful stay

We stayed for 5 nights over the bank holiday, a so needed break !. What a lovely place. Very welcoming staff and we were fortunate enough to have a hard-standing pitch on the top part of the site. What a view ! There is a local fishing lake you have access to to walk to the local pub.....also fantastic. So quiet and had a complete rest. We will definitely visit again

A lovely site and highly recommended

A lovely site impeccably well maintained by its amazing wardens Martin and Janet. They are excellent wardens that are so friendly and welcoming, always going above and beyond requirements. A great base for exploring Exmoor and the surrounding areas. Visited 22nd August 2021 for 7 nights.

Boggy grass pitches

Visited the site in August, arrived later than expected due to major traffic delays to have the option of a handful of boggy grass pitches. Warden advised to park caravan as close to the road as possible so car wheels could stay on road. Water was so bad when you stood on grass it was puddling over your shoes. Warden found piece of plywood to put under the step to stop it sinking. Spent a week of having to take shoes of on step. Grass never dried out. Pitches need to be better drained or hardstanding. Not up to club standards. On grass pitches noise from the road through the night. Wardens on own and did very good job, but need help. Again not to club standards, shop, closed when toilets being cleaned. One of our party slipped getting out of motorhome and fell on floor banging head. Very disappointed with this site will not be returning.

Wonderful wardens

We stayed here for 6 nights in August, the wardens were really friendly and the site was extremely well maintained. This had not been easy for them since they had been on their own (one couple) since March 2021. Having chatted to one of the wardens one evening it was apparent that even as lovely as the site was, it was not up to his usual standard, perfectionist I think! They both worked so hard and did not have a day off while remaining cheerful and helpful to all the members. Lovely dog walk, which our boys enjoyed. The local pub served lovely meals and we found the hosts to be very friendly. Highly recommended site.
