One to explore in the future

We used this as a stop over between a rally and a minimum facilities CC site Plenty of open space to explore if we had had the time  Only downside was we specifically wanted to use the site to do some washing but the machine only washes cold as no hot water plumbed in The CC should have made this clear in their info  as we might have chosen another site! Clean site with very friendly warden!

Very Enjoyable Visit

On arrival we were made very welcome by the wardens who extremely friendly. They were very helpful and provided all the information we asked for during our stay. The site is situated at the top of the hill with lovely views out over the Haldon Forest and although near the A38 this was not intrusive. The reception area, site and facilities were spotless and the flowers in the reception area garden were absolutely beautiful. A very enjoyable visit.

Lovely Site

This is a very nice site. The facilities are a little dated but kept super clean by the wardens. We could not have been made more welcome and found them friendly, helpful and efficient. The 2 washing up sinks and the 2 laundry sinks we found very useful and adequate for our needs. We found it easy to get to the touristy things and villages we wanted to see on the moors. We found this a very quiet site despite it being so close to the A38 and would not hesitate to stay here again and hope to in the near future.

Open spaces

Easy to find off the M5 motorway a big open spaced site on the inner ring of Exeter Racecourse. Reception area that sells some local produce and essentials. Good open spaces for kids to play and excellent for dog walkers. Inner road around racetrack approximately 2 miles long. Other small tracks through heath-land. Toilet and shower block of a good standard and kept very clean. Wardens are very friendly and helpful. Local Spar shop in service station about 10 minutes walk. Also an American type diner and take away with free WiFi in same location, although not dog friendly. Ten minutes drive to Exeter and about twenty minutes or so drive to Torquay. Disappointing that there was no WiFi access on site but good mobile phone reception.

Overly officious staff

We arrived at the site on time we had previously booked, as we turned in someone else had arrived just before us ,so instead of waiting in a queue as I had already booked a space I thought I would go on ahead and get set up and go along after and sort out payment. I was just about to unhook caravan when this overly officious warden came along and basically told me off and insisted we return back to the hut to pay accusing us of trying to get away with paying. My mum went along to the hut while I continued to unhook and she then got treated like a naughty child. I do not consider we were doing anything wrong and their attitude with as not acceptable they need to remember who pays their wages. Facilities were also not as clean as on previous visits, hand towels were not replenished and bin not emptied in baby changing room. They have also reduced the washing up facilities to just 2 sinks from the original 4. Will not be staying again for awhile.

Peaceful site

Peaceful site. Easy to access. Showers and toilets very clean. Staff very welcoming and helpful. A bit out of the way and no kids playground. Nearest beach in Exmouth. Close by American Diner offers HUGE meals at a very reasonable cost. Would stay again, but if you are wanting to get a parking spot in Exmouth, you need to go very early!

Good Camping Site

Easy access, plenty of space for all, great walking on site around the race course, nearby Spar shop for provisions. We have been for the race meetings, its great. Some road noise and if its windy its windy, you are on the top of Haldon Hill after all. If you are a camper it will suit just fine, we go from Cornwall to get away for a rest.Nearby Haldon forest off road biking paths really good.

Not the Best CC site

Wardens Nice, Location for surrounding area's good. Disabled Toilet/Shower room absolute Joke! Totally built wrong. Water just runs out of the door and misses the drain plug completely. Needs a complete refurb. If your second in line to use it you have to wade through water to get to the loo! Squeegy does not do the job! Communal washbasins in the main block rather than separate cubicles not ideal either. No Wifi available. Not the normal Caravan Club standards i'm afraid.

Third time

We have just had our third visit to Exeter and what a lovely place it is. The facilities may not be the most luxurious but they are adequate and kept clean. The views and dog walking areas are brilliant if a little breezy at times. The nearby Spar shop at the garage served us well.
