Nice open site, facilities a bit basic, priced accordingly

Second visit. Nice open site, open views, watching stars and shooting stars one night. Toiletblock/showers working adequately but all a bit tired, still very clean and does the job. Some road noise, but despite that still a peaceful relaxed site. Easy access, friendly warden. Nice walks straight from site.

Night away at the racces

Ideal campsite if you are into your horse racing. We camped for one night on the day of the races (evening race). The camp site is in the middle of the race track and we had a plot close to the track. During the races we would walk to the fence right by the finish line were you can see and feel the horses run past...... There was a big lorry with a big screen showing the race which you could stand and watch the whole race whilst the horses were out of sight. This was all included in the camping price. You can not get into the main race arena without buying a tick for the event, but you can bet online via your smart phone o join in the fun as there is a good 4G signal. I would definitely go back again, especially on race day. If it is a daytime race, you would be better off booking 2 days the day before and the day of the race as you can not get on camp till 12:00 so with an early race it would be busy.

Convenient but basic

Stayed on a no-electric pitch en-route to Cornwall. A very basic site with reasonable facilities block. Quite exposed to the weather and the grass pitches were very uneven which made it very difficult to level a motorhome. A good Fish & Chip van was on site for Friday night. Would have expected better from a "club" site.

Relaxing stay

Last two weeks in July 2018 had a very relaxing stay, very quiet, spotless facilities, less than ten minutes to Matford P&R by car to Exeter centre, could be difficult at this P&R for Motorhomes can get quite full, bus stop also o/s racecourse to Exeter warden will explain.

Travelers

Arrived in rain parked caravan then realised that there were 2 travelers by us .The women were screeching from one van to the other they were awful. One young child got down and poohed on to the grass. When the men came back there were 4 transit vans 2 with sign writing so in two caravans there were 5 men 2 women and 2 children and the noise they made was horrendous. Then 2 more travellers came parked either side of us. We had booked for 7 nights and we just hoped they would go. But it got worse they were phoning people up and telling them to come and how to not be refused. On our last night 2 more travellers came on so fast at about 9 o,clock parked on a season pitch that was empty and about 8ft from another van and parked his car on office garden. At that pointThe warden came out and made they go on night parking. The worst was to come .next morning they game over to book in they refused they were very aggressive to the warden some called the police and when they game they got more aggressive. At that we left. Something MUST be done it spoils everyone's time there . The carvan club or the racecourse MUST do something to stop this happening. Again

Friendly peaceful site

Good location , easy approach, no narrow lanes. Open site, looking for some shade we found a small square site to the left which was surrounded by trees, very peaceful and green. Have a look at the online siteplan. Road hum audible but didn't bother us, the birdsong was much more noticeable. Being further away from the toiletblock, we used our own facilities. Service point was nearby, spotlessly clean. Great location to visit Teignmouth, Dawlish, Exeter.

Cheap and Cheerful

This is an excellent site and for the £10 I paid per night for a hard standing, electric hook up and all normal facilities I cannot complain. The site is kept clean and the grass kept short. The facilities, possibly basic by some standards were nevertheless always clean and warm. The washing machine in the laundry room was the best I have ever used and far superior to the standard on most sites. There is a quirky bus service just outside the course which was fully explained by the very helpful welsh couple running the site. This site is very central for much of Devon and I would heartily recommend it. After all I was only going to stay for three nights and ended staying for ten

Excellent site.....but beware

I cannot fault the site in any way but during our stay last weekend we would ere on the cautious of booking when there is horse racing on. On the Sunday morning everything was tranquil but just after lunch our caravan pitch was part of a 150 car park with people milling round everywhere. Its not what I expected but in fairness there was nothing the wardens could do. They made sure that no one strayed around the campsite and used the facilities but they had they work cut out. Everyone gone by 6.30 but left all the grass area all churned up. So as to sum up its a cracking little site good friendly wardens easy access the toilet/shower block immaculate and warm and central for many places. BEWARE RACE DAYS THOUGH.

Simple but good

This was our third visit to this site. This time we stayed for three nights on our way west again choosing a hard standing economy pitch, great value but possibly the only one in the Clubs network! Disappointing to see, what appeared to be so many seasonal vans occupying so many pitches including two of the three economy pitches! The toilet block was bright and spotless and not at all cold as reported by one reviewer. We like the simplicity of this site, it’s handiness as a stop over on the long journey west and for longer stays there is plenty to see and do within 20 miles of the site.
