Our Annual Holiday Destination

We have visited this site every year for the last 5 years as we rate it so highly. The pitches are either hard standing or grass (with astro turf for the awning) and are a good size. The toilets/showers are immaculate and within easy reach of all pitches, although they do close from 1030:-11:30 for cleaning. The laundry is reasonably priced at £3.50 to wash a large load, we don’t know how much the drier is as we’ve never used it. The site is kept very clean and tidy (although there is the occasional dog mess from irresponsible owners not cleaning up after their dog) with the grass mown regularly. Plenty of dog waste bins around the site with an off lead area to let the fur babies run free. Fishing is reasonably priced and there is a good selection of baits and accessories in the on site shop. The staff are very friendly and helpful and make booking in a pleasant and welcoming experience. There is a very pleasant walk across the fields into Doddington with a couple of decent pubs with a good selection of real ales and other beverages. The towns of March and Chatteris are within easy reach and the City of Ely is a relatively short drive. We have never seen the dogs so chilled whether on the bank while we fish, running around in the off lead area or out for walks, or just relaxing in/out of the caravan. There is a cafe adjacent to one of the lakes serving a good selection of hot and cold food/drinks at reasonable prices, available to eat in the seating area or take away. The reception closes from 11:00-12:00 so you must return your barrier card before 11:00 on check out day, the card is not required to exit the site.

weekend stay

We have just spent 3 nights at fields end and found it to be quiet and relaxing. We do not fish but have an elderly dog. The toilets close at 10.30-11.30 for cleaning which we found to be restrictive and when we came to leave and return the barrier access card and get £10 deposit back the reception was closed at 11.45hrs. However as they were at the point of closing someone was there and gave us our deposit . It was only when we mentioned that people were not picking up their dogs mess that the response came back as it could be fox or deer ! The dog off the lead walk area was great, apart from other dogs deposits and supplied poo bin on the fence. That area does have a pole with camera so hopefully someone will get reprimanded. The only down side is the lack of lighting in that area which makes it precarious dodging the possible mess later in the evening. Early on in our stay we were really happy to consider a return visit but feel that unless you fish it is not what we are looking for when there are so many more lovely sites around.

Great Site

This was our first visit to this site and it won't be the last! The facilities were very good clean and tidy. There was ample room on the pitches which were set out very well it was great for walking the dog and the fishing lakes were excellent. It was ideally situated for visiting places of interest. We enjoyed our stay very much and we hope to stay there again soon.

Fish n'camp

A fisherman's delight! Unusual and recently developed, set on a gentle hill in six or so gate-connected fields so your pitch (some needing chocks) is like being on a small campsite. Two large ponds/mini lakes for those with rods, field and woods for dog-walking, a central loo block with large showers - one like an ensuite. Satellite wifi at a cost but Three 4g signal not bad. Doddington village shop nearby but there is a small cafe on site (limited hours, especially off season). Lovely for an afternoon and night stopover. Average C & M Club affiliated site price of £19 for one pn. Note, this is an adult-only site.

Our favourite retreat!

We have only been caravanning for 18 months or so and stayed here on just our second outing and have never looked back!!! We are lucky that it's just 45 mins away from us so whenever we want to retreat for some peace and quiet we head over here. The site is immaculately kept, great sized pitches and first class facilities, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, it's superb for dog walking, especially in the heat as the woodland area is sheltered from the sun. Would recommend the Doddington Circular walk, look out for the alpaca farm and muntjac'S on the way. We don't fish but love to wash those who do and there are some incredibly sized carp in the lakes. Would definitely recommend a visit to this lovely site.

Brilliant place

We discovered this site last year and it site really does have everything this pair of older and creakier caravanners like! Very large serviced pitches, very well kept throughout, helpful staff, small size, quiet ... Three pitch areas - main, paddock and CL with different services and prices. We had not been to an 'adults only' site before this, but actually found the place much more relaxing without children around. We don't have a dog and don't fish, but a lovely place for those who do. Open all year and very good value for money. Only downside on this visit was the dawn to dusk bird scarer, but it is an agricultural area and at this time of year, until crops get going, it is needed, otherwise all 5*.

Paradise at last !

Just returned after a lovely 8 night stay pitched on the Paddock. This is the site we have been waiting to find after 30 plus years membership of the CC. This site has everything that you need, great site, great surroundings, great for dogs, great facilities and lovely staff running the site. (Only gave 1 star for families as this is an adult only site, if a family consists of adults only then 5 stars would be awarded). Two brilliant lakes for fishing and for walking around with you four legged friends if you don't fish which appear to be well stocked with fish, didn't do any fishing myself but watched other fishermen who were landing superb specimens. We liked the site so much we have booked up for Xmas and new year, and this time I will take my rods and licence ! Hoping to also squeeze a few more days in here before Xmas. Do yourself an immense favour and visit this jewel of a site, it really warrants our support, thanks for a great stay, see you again soon !

Excellent Site

Had an enjoyable stay at this site. I have not rated it good for families as it is adults only and therefore by default not suitable for children. We booked the site for it's location rather than the fishing or adults only. The site was managed in a very non-assuming manner but they were there if you needed them. Lovely walks around the fishing lake, the woods and surrounding fields. The pitches are very large and generally flat. It is the first adults only site we have been on and we thoroughly enjoyed it and everyone was so friendly, the fishermen just loving to describe the biggest fish that they had caught. It was a shame that the instructions to turn off the lights in the toilet/shower block was not adhered too. Perhaps the site owners should consider installing automatic on/off lights. Well worth a visit.

A gem

Excellent site. The Paddock has a really friendly feel and walks around the lakes and woods are easy for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.Especially good site if you fish! Some of the spelling on the signs could be improved though - but that's a minor gripe. Well kept and well run and worth many return visits.
