The best site in Wales

Fantastic site with direct access to the beautiful dog friendly beach. The staff work hard to keep the site in perfect condition and are extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them, they even came down to the carpark with jump leads to help restart my car! The nearby Jack's bar and restaurant was a short flat walk away and did tasty take away food as well so saved having to drive out. Thank you......we will definitely be visiting again. 😍⛵🏊‍♀️🐕🌞🏖

Pleasant and relaxing stay

First visit here and we are really enjoying it. Facilities are good, very clean and well maintained. The site is the same and all the wardens we have met are pleasant, helpful and hard working. We have enjoyed exploring the area especially Manorbier and Barafundle beaches and Stackpole Quay. What we didn’t like was the way the vacant grass pitch next door was used as a dog toilet. We kept the blinds closed on that side of the caravan. If only the site had a dog walk area……….. which it does.

Nice and Remote but a perfect place to rest!

We had a week here over the Easter break. Although the site was full it did not at all seem crowded or busy. It is a very long site stretched out over half a mile. Most pitches seem to be South facing with a good amount of sun on the pitches throughout the day. Facilities were clean and tidy and the beach was an easy 10 minute flat walk from our pitch (which was at the furthest point in the park) so only a 5 minute walk from the nearer pitches. There is a pub / restaurant next to the beach which gets very busy but has a reasonable bistro type menu and takeaway fish and chips or burgers. Everything else is a drive away (Not too long a drive...but a drive nonetheless. Mobile reception is zero on site but wifi was stable and reliable. All in all a great site to base yourself for exploring Pembrokeshire. We had an enjoyable and peaceful 7 days here. Thank you

Excellent location and site

It was our first taste of Wales and it didn’t disappoint. From arrival to departure, the team at Freshwater East were friendly, helpful and professional at all times. They offered assistance when required and nothing was too much trouble. A short walk to the beach, made it a perfect location. The lack of mobile signal on site, was more than compensated for by the good signal on the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return again. Thank you

Nice Stay

Lovely site and a nice warm welcome when we arrived Thursday 14th April. Nice walk to the beach and pub! Didn't understand why they closed all the facilities from 10.15am - 11.45 each day, would be better if they staggered the times i.e female WC closed and keep men's open whilst female being cleaned, just seemed a long time to close all the services at the same time. The bus only runs twice a week Thursday and Sunday and is hit and miss whether it turns up. TV aerial is a must and they sell them at the onsite shop if you need one, reasonably priced. Beach is nice but no real areas to cycle as is very hilly.

Peaceful Stay

Having read a couple of poor reviews on the club website we arrived in trepidation, but the person on the arrivals desk was welcoming and efficient. The site was up to the usual club standard and our serviced pitch was flat and roomy, the only issue being the fact that Freshwater East is very poor for phone and TV signals. However, we purchased an extension lead for the TV aerial and plugged it into the bollard, so that was solved. The free wi-fi was also useful, as it allowed us to look things up on the internet , use Wi-Fi-calling on the phone, etc. Whether this would have been possible in peak season is doubtful, but the site was quiet in mid-October, with staff re-seeding grass pitches, painting kerbs and doors etc. in readiness for the autumn shutdown. The walks along the coast were gorgeous and we will probably return to explore the area again.

Why did I have to have a serviced pitch

I tried to book a pitch online but it said the site was full, I then rang freshwater east site and was told that they only had one serviced pitch available which was fine however we spent 3 nights there only to find that there where empty hard standing pitches all over the site for the whole weekend. After speaking to other members I found that they had also been told that there where only serviced pitches available. Please could someone explain why this has happened. The site itself is really nice and we had a great time, we will definitely be going back but hopefully I won't have to spend out on a serviced pitch when other hard standing pitches are free

Such a shame.

We arrived at the site ten minutes early to be met by a most unpleasant 'warden' and there were several vehicles queueing in front of us. It was almost 13.12 when i asked the 'warden' if there was a problem as the queue didn't seem to be moving much, to be told that we were the problem and we should have seen the notice on the way in. We hadn't seen it and accept that yes we did arrive 10 minutes early. However, the man's manner and words were beyond rude. He was aggressive and unpleasant and thereafter never spoke to us as we passed him. On one occasion he actually blocked our access along one of the paths when he was doing a job. We've been members for several years now and have never been spoken to in such a manner, very upsetting. The site itself was fine, very clean and good facilities but what a shame that one man can spoil it for people.

Not the best

Although the site is nicely located just above Freshwater beach and its facilities are to the club's usual high standards, we were disappointed with other aspects of our 3 night stay in September. We arrived after heavy rain and found that there were very few standard pitches unoccupied, those remaining being on grass and all on a slope on the downward side of the access roads. We have a large motorhome and foresaw problems getting off the pitch (all those left had lost their grass due to previously being covered by awnings, so were already muddy, with more rain forecast). When I asked the office about people getting stuck the response was 'We have some mats but otherwise it's up to people to call in a breakdown service). We had parked with our front nearside wheel about 3 ft off the peg to try to ensure we had some grass under at least one side of the vehicle. Shortly after we were set up the site manager arrived and told us we had to move up to the peg and turn the motorhome around. I appreciated that the requirement to park up to the peg was to minimise fire spread (although in my view awnings and barbeques present a far greater risk than a vehicle or caravan catching fire). However I pointed out that I was free to park in either direction, as advised when we checked in. We were fortunate to get a hardstanding space the next morning but on the following day witnessed a camper van unable to get off a grass pitch. they too were told if necessary to call out breakdown. Maybe this is the necessary response but the manager lacked the normal friendly and helpful approach we have always experienced on other club sites. We also noted that throughout our stay 2 empty serviced pitches were available and discovered 2 people who had requested to upgrade to these but were refused. This site is known to be badly drained and needs a much higher proportion of hardstanding, particularly as in our experience this is what most members prefer. This is the first club site we have stayed on where we have found issues with the way the site is managed.
