Nice Site

Visited in September 2020. Originally booked two weeks but changed to one week when we learnt about racing day restriction movement, on this occasion it was three days in one week. Realise this wasn’t down to the Club but Racecourse. Site wardens are very friendly and helpful. After reading reviews about grass condition we wondered just what we would end up with. Have to say we found the grass a bit patchy in places but please remember this site is close to a beach so will have sand about! We found it perfectly acceptable. It must be hard maintaining grass on a busy site, but we felt the wardens did their best. Toilet and shower blocks felt very safe to use with the restricted number system in place. I feel hand sanitizer at water, waste and chemical toilet stations would be a benefit. Another good stay at Great Yarmouth.

Well travelled

Very disappointed with the ground on this site . It is about time something was done about the grass or lack of it . We booked a grass pitch but finished with a dirty sandy pitch..I. am sure something can be done when you look at the beautifully grass racing track. This review doesn't include the wardens who were very helpful and facilities looked after very well. Also very disappointed with the club for not supplying hand sanitizer at service points. I will not be returning to this site although it is well placed but do not want to pitch on sand Come on CAMC get your act together and sort out the grass.

Close to the beach and the delights of Gt Yarmouth

Our first stay here or any racecourse site. Friendly warm booking in and a decent level pitch found easily even though very busy. We didn’t use the facilities through personal choice due to COVID-19 but all precautions seemed in place. We loved the walks on the beach and river but were less impressed with the town but that’s a personal opinion,

Very helpful and friendly

I didn't comment on the families section because I was there on my own. For me the site was very good - easy to pitch and the facilities were really clean and the current Covid wristband system of up to 6 on the hooks worked well - it was never full when I went in (I stayed in early September 2020) apart from the dishwashing area (as only one sink was in use) but if you avoided the morning there was often no one about. But the showers and loos were well spaced out and there was I thought there was plenty of hand sanitiser (though if I had to be picky the one near the waste disposal was hard to operate)... The wardens were delightful, hard working and friendly and kindly lent me a water container when I realised I had forgotten mine - even going to the trouble of adding some Milton to it when they gave it to me so I could ensure it was clean. There was one night (I think Saturday) when there was some noise from I presume the greyhound track - and obviously if you were there on horse racing days it would be lively, but most of the time it was very quiet and peaceful with lovely walks for the dog down to the dunes if you wanted. It was a good base for touring around and I would definitely go again. I'd love to be there on a Race day just to see what it would be like! I wasn't fussed about the lack of grass/sandiness though I can see what others have said about the unevenness though luckily I found a pitch which I was very happy with...

Needs updating

Having stayed at the site for the past few years I was very disappointed with the site this year, as others have said pitches are very bare hardly any grass no markings, and uneven. The site needs money spent on it. The site is located just outside the town center which us easily accessible by walking along the front a pleasant walk, or the local bus stops just outside, or the little train runs along the sea front regularly. A fish and chip van visits the site on Wednesday and Saturday. I have been to several club sites since lockdown eased, and this site didn't have the same procedures in place, the band system for toilets was ok and worked well but there was a lack of sanitizers at bins, and water points. Will probably give this site a miss for next year to hopefully improve.

A good site but wheres the grass!

Stayed here for 7 nights in August. Great location and site wardens we're lovely. 10 minute walk to the dunes and beach for the dog and 30 minutes into town. There is a bus stop almost outside the site which is Β£2 each way. A taxi is Β£8 which I thought was expensive but worth it if there are 4 of you. The site had a procedure in place for Covid which only allowed 6 people in the toilet/shower block at a time. However a number of people abused this and still went in even though it was at maximum capacity. There was a distinct lack of hand gel which I would like to have seen at the water points etc... The only one I saw was just outside the men's toilets. It was race day when we were there which was good but quiet because no public were allowed. Because of Covid you had to be off site before 10am and not allowed back on until after 8:30 PM. The racing didn't start until 3pm! and finished at 7:30pm... Worth knowing if you are there on race day... We stayed on site and just chilled. The site is meant to be grass pitches but there was a distinct lack of grass! The ground was a dusty sandy mix with only about 20% grass cover.... It was also uneven and badly uneven in some places... Pick your pitch wisely... Hopefully CAMC will give it some TLC this autumn/winter. 4/5 due to location and staff

Needs a bit of TLC

We have always loved this site and come here regularly, its a great run from our home. The beach is literally a five minute walk, which is very dog friendly. The relief wardens that were there when we were on site are extremely nice. Very friendly and helpful, really liked them. The facilities are always so clean and well looked after and a few little touches around the site which make you smile. Just one criticism the actual pitches, grassed areas could really do with some TLC. I think its probably many years since they have been looked at and the pitches have become quite uneven now and there are some quite big ruts in the drive ways. I know the wardens do their best to take care of it all and move pitches around to try and keep them as best they can, but I think they are fighting a losing battle, it really does need a good overhaul now. But, saying that, it wont put us off going. We were gutted they are fully booked for the bank holiday.

Short stay/motorhome

Just stayed 2nights in our Motorhome whilst touring round Norfolk. The term grass pitch we felt was a very loose term.the pitches were very dusty sandy pitches.Accept that we are near to the sea and links golf course. However the pitches are very uneven with some deep ridges on many .We were recommended not to site at one end because we may get stuck in the sand (we have a large Motorhome ).The pitches had no markings to distinguish where one pitch started and the other finished. System in place for toilets etc which people seemed to adhere to during Covid Dogs are not allowed to be walked around the racecourse as on other sites. No dog walk on site therefore you must go off site and head for sand dunes. The walk into main part of Yarmouth is a good mile or so along the front.but there is a bus stop a short distance off site and there is also a bus that runs along the front for most of the day which is not mentioned in details. No food vans appear to come on site.and there is no shop on site. The ice cream van did visit. Not one of the prettier sites we have ever been to.

Can’t Fault It

Had a great week here recently friendly staff very clean facilities my only gripe is we were told to be off site by 10 am on race days if we wanted to go out for the day. Went to the gate at 9am to go out and the gates were locked only people allowed off site were those leaving with their outfits πŸ™„ apparently πŸ‡ jockey club insisted due to COVID-19 You cannot even walk out till the races are finished I can see their point So if you are Going out go early mind you we got the Car & van nice and clean 😊
