Pretty site.

Pretty site, seemed very well kept. Wardens seemed friendly. Not really in Hebden Bridge, about 3 mile walk or by road. There is a village at the bottom of the hill plus some houses and the Robin Hood pub as you go further up. Bus stop outside the campsite and we took a taxi to Hebden Bridge ( £8 each way for two of us). If you are a keen walker or cyclist would be a great base. Probably not ideal if you have small children unless you drive out somewhere each day. No toilet block which we knew and was fine, I would have liked a pot wash area though. Somewhere to go do the big greasy pans and that kind of thing. The pitches were nice and wide but some people in longer caravans and motorhomes not happy about the length of their pitches. We are 6.4m and almost outside our pitch. Some people tried parking diagonally and then asked to move. If you have a large unit check that you can be accommodated. The dog walk was laughably small. I’m not very bothered about having a dedicated dog walk area so wasn’t really an issue for us but if that’s something you are looking for you’ll be disappointed here. Motorhome service point was excellent - proper drive over grid. I’d go back just for this!

Interesting Location

We like the feel of this site which is small and in a good location to explore the surrounding area. Didn't have time to go into Mytholmroyd or Hebden Bridge but, having visited the area previously, can confirm that it is full of interest and good walking. The site is nicely laid out, well maintained and backs onto a river with some surrounding but not overwhelming trees. Some road noise for the pitches adjacent to the road. As previously commented, the dog walk is not only tiddly, but poorly maintained and on a slope under trees with many tree roots. So a bit of a risk especially if using in the dark. We spent just one night here having had to rearrange our bookings due to a family illness. When we arrived, the warden couldn't initially find our booking; having sorted that out he then asked us to drive round to find a suitable pitch without bothering to tell us that there was, in fact, only one awning pitch available. As it was on grass which looked a bit soggy and as we were in a motorhome, we asked if we could go on a non-awning pitch but were told there were none available. The warden was not at all friendly or accommodating about this and annoyingly, we found that two non-awning gravel pitches remained vacant until the following morning. This is the first time after many years staying on C&MH sites that we have felt that the welcome was not up to standard. We like the area so would like to return but may seek an alternative as a consequence.

Not for us

Small site with no facilities which is fine by us. Personally we didn't like it. Teeny tiny dog walk which is on a muddy slope amongst trees with tree roots sticking up. Even the dog found it difficult. There are overhanging branches and weeds and it clearly hasn't been touched for a while! Most pitches are quite small. Next to a very noisy road . Site feels claustrophobic. The lady in reception was very friendly. We know people love this site but we won't be going back. The roads to get there are very bumpy and challenging in places. The weather wasn't great so if it had been nicer we might have liked it more but certainly wouldn't pitch near the road !!

Great site but.....

Echoing what others have said about the warden-in-chief, although it didn’t affect us directly, it was evident that he requires some training in interpersonal skills. There are ways of enforcing site rules without getting up people’s noses! Endorse the comments about the Robin Hood, very good value, but portions are much too generous! Last time here I couldn’t get up to Stoodley Pike due to a sore foot, happily managed it this trip 😊

Two Night Stop

This is a really nice site. Although it should probably be called Mytholmroyd site as it is only a 20 minute walk to there and a further mile and a half to Hebden Bridge. It is a fairly easy walk to HB (2.4 miles) and you can walk along the canal some of the way. There is no toilet block on the site but this was pointed out before I booked our stay. The Wardens are very friendly. As we arrived around 6:30 Friday PM I messaged the local pub, The Robin Hood, in Cragg Vale. It was only a 20 minutes walk (0.8 mile), and had a fabulous homemade meal in an olde worlde pub which was very welcoming. The beer and wine prices are very reasonable - a pint and a large wine was £7. On the way back from HB on Saturday we stopped at The Dusty Miller in Mytholmroyd, a modern pub (no food) but also very welcoming and reasonably priced drinks. There was some road noise on the site but as it is not an overly used route it wasn't an issue - maybe a boy racer or two on Saturday night. If you have onboard facilities and like to walk, this is a great site.

perfect peaceful 2 night stay

We booked our 1st ever official caravan park stay here at late availability only ever having staying at CLs which we've loved. Warm welcome easy to pay and informative host, can't remember her name sorry. Bus stop to Hebden Bridge right outside the site and ran every hour and took 10 minutes into town. Lovely site clean and well spaced out we would book at fully serviced pitch in the future if staying longer. Otherwise everything was great. Walking up to Stoodley Pike in early evening from the site we had amazing views and the whole of the Moors to ourselves. Will definitely be coming back

Handy location for an overnight stopover

Easy access and impeccably clean. Staff helpful. Lack of an amenity block is always an issue but the price is fair. Lots of level pitches. Mostly hard standing. Some pitches very close together by Club standards which restricted privacy. Handy & easy to find location and good for a one night stopover.

Not as good the second time round :(

The site is good overall. It's nicely located, peaceful, and well kept. The pitches are comfortable and spacious. And although there is only one motorhome service point, it is really good. Having stayed here before, I was expecting it to be just as good as the first time. However, sadly, the welcome was somewhat brusque and rude. Once crossed wires over an amended booking had been untangled, the reception became warmer. It left a bit of unwelcoming feeling, however. Once we'd got the van sorted and filled up, we landed ourselves on a nice blue pegged pitch. Good little spot, which was tidy and nicely positioned with some sun and some shade. Unfortunately, it didn't appear to have an electrical hook-up which we needed after not having had any for a few days. Once we found our hook-up point on an adjacent pitch, it transpired that our charging cord wasn't long enough to reach. In the end, we had to cut our stay short as a result. Lovely site and pitch, but sadly not so great the second time round.
