Great position

The facilities and cleanliness are remarkable, just excellent. It's an easy stop from the M6, within walking distance of Sizergh Castle, a NT trust house and garden, and even nearer to an excellent farm shop and cafe which has scrummy cakes. The site itself is interesting being on an old gunpowder mill. You can borrow a good little folder of info the camp staff have compiled to help you understand the historic site.

Amazing gem of a site

Just spent 4 nights on this site and wished we could have stayed much longer. We were on a serviced site which were grouped into small units in the trees. The nearest you can get to wild camping but with all the facilities !!. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Facilities spotless and no queing even when busy. This is a doggy paradise with numerous walks direct from the site. We had a bird feeder and you could spend hours watching the variety of wildlife including squirrels, woodpeckers etc.will definitely recommend to our friends.

A truly amazing site

Although we only stayed for 1 night I was amazed by the size of the site although you would think there where only a few people using the site because it was spread out in a forest ,the only downside I found was the childrens playground left a bit to be desired otherwise everything else on the site was excellent and would certainly be using this site again just for the peace and quiet

A proper site

This is what camping is all about. Plenty of pitches all tucked away in little groups in a hardwood forest. Privacy assured. Good facilities, pitches on hard gravel. Plenty of walks direct from site with a farm trail to Sizeberg Farm shop. There is a local bus service to Kendal not far away. The access road could do with some repairs. Excellent information room with take away details. Fish & Chip on Fridays.

The perfect site

We have just spent our first time at this site and will certainly be returning. It is clean, well kept with friendly and helpful staff. It is ideally positioned to visit most of the Lakes. The pitches are all surrounded by trees giving a feeling of privacy and space even when full. The local farm shop serves good food and is well stocked with provisions and gifts. This is an ideal site if you enjoy walking or cycling and is perfect for dogs.

Top class site

The wardens on take great pride in this site. It is kept immaculately clean from shower blocks to roadways. They are, and rightly so, very proud of this site. There is a well stocked shop and newspapers are delivered daily. There are lots of good walks from the site so, if you are a walker, no car is required to get to the walks. It is a short car ride into Kendal which is about 4 miles away. The site is within a wood and this can make it a bit noisy on the caravan roof when it rains. It is a tranquil site with lots of wildlife, not much for children to do, there is a play area but not much in it. Best eating place we think is the Two Sisters Café within the Plumgarths farm shop complex on the road to Kendal. Well worth a try.

Lovely Kendal

We love Kendal, but this was our first time there for a winter weekend. We arrived around 7 as it was getting dark and the site was very full, so there were almost no free pitches suitable for our large, heavy caravan with no motor mover and the turning circle of a tanker. Wardens amazingly helpful and got us sorted on a coned off large pitch. Had fish and chips from the chip van (very good, although we were ready for them after pitchgate). Did a fabulous walk on Saturday around the Kentmere Horseshoe in glorious sunshine, you just can't beat the Lakes. Facilities were great, location is stunning, we will just need to maintain a state of zen calm when siting "the beast" in the dark. Get there early if you can!
