Excellent site. Friendly and helpful staff. Layout very pleasant. Only drawback was the attitude of a van driver on the single lane access road to the site, who failed to stop when it was possible for her to do so and demanded that we reversed our caravan uphill on a blind bend - simply not possible. In the end she did reverse quite easily. Hopefully an unlucky one -off since our stay at the site was very enjoyable.
A quick stop over
We stopped at Kendal on the way north to meet with friends. The staff on arrival were brilliant, polite and very helpful. As we were in a large MH a suitable pitch had already been allocated therefore taking out any stress in looking. A lovely location that we wish we could have stayed longer. Lovely walks with the dog. Only downside was the weather being a little windy and bits of branches falling on our new MH. The club cant deal with the weather but possibly a touch more tree management would remove the overhanging branches ?
All in all a lovely site and worth another visit.
Dog owners please note
This is a very nice site and the staff were very welcoming and facilities lovely and clean. BUT ……. Dog owners please do as the club asks and keep your dog on a lead. I too have a dog but she is anxious and the reason we use CAMC sites is because of the rule of dogs on leads but so many owners seem to disregard this rule at this campsite - why ??? There was ALOT of barking on this site with a couple near us allowing their 4 dogs to roam freely with lots of barking and no attempt to stop them. We are experiencing this more and more on sites but this site was definitely the worst we have encountered and making us re evaluate continuing our membership.
Stopover at Kendal
We stopped for 1 night on our way back from Scotland but wished we had stayed longer. Site set in NT woodland and next to Sizergh castle which we briefly visited. Would have liked to stay longer to do the many walks around the area and walk into Kendal. Great information room with lots of suggestions for days out and maps for walking.

Lovely Woodland Site
This site is unlike other normal club sites, due to the quirky alcoves that you can find a pitch. Wardens really friendly and helpful. Great walks from and around the site. Nice pub not too far away. Handily placed for the Lake District, and we even managed a drive to Barrow-In-Furness and a walk around Furness Abbey.
My favourite site
I love Low Park Wood, the site's original name, and have been visiting for many years. The shaded woodland glade layout is lovely, though I recognise that not everyone likes that.
The ruins of the New Sedgewick Gunpowder Works are extensive and of interest if you like industrial heritage. Information on the remains is available on site. There are lovely walks direct from site, both along the River Kent and through the woodland of the Sizergh estate.
The wardens were friendly and helpful and the facilities clean and well kept.
We were grateful that the site wi-fi has been fixed.
We will be back!

Great stopover site
Exceptionally friendly staff. Site well maintained - even to point of handweeding the gravel! Interesting history including old factory buildings amongst the woodland. Would be very happy to return in future

Overpriced mediocre site
We stayed here over the weekend (2 adults, 1 teen) and honestly, never again. It cost us £90 for 2 nights and that was the member price! The facilities (whilst clean) were over-run with kids whilst I tried to shower on the Saturday…unsupervised kids, I may add. Almost impossible to sleep due to the sound of the road and dogs barking. I know almost everybody has a dog these days, but the constant barking on campsites has become unpleasant. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t stay again.
Exceptional site
We received a lovely warm welcome when we arrived. When enquiring about the history of the site we were signposted to the information room where there were leaflets about the history of the site. We were also informed of a national trust guided walk that takes place on a Friday afternoon every couple of months for a cost of £3. We met the guide Sue and had a wonderful and very informative walk of the site and were told of its history as a gunpowder mill. Well worth doing and would do it again.
The walk up to Sizbugh castle was easy even though we stayed on the road and didnt walk across the fields. The farm shop is within easy access but is ver6 expensive.
Will definitely be going back and will stay longer next day.

Second visit
For our first ever touring experience in 2023 we visited Kendal and had a wonderful time so decided to return this year. Site warden was wonderful and helpful, we even managed to secure same plot as last year as it was one of the sole caravan secluded ones ( having dogs makes this easier to keep them quiet) Site kept clean and tidy and no problems with shower access even in July. The riverside walk in the forest and wild garlic path that we enjoyed last year was a disappointment as not accessable due to being overgrown and muddy. Weather didnt help.
This site is located for easy access to the surrounding lakes which we found useful.
It is definately a site for couples looking for a peaceful break and keen walkers but not much for families to do. Will definately visit again. Thank you for a lovely visit
