Disappointing

Right on the NC500 route so good location ok for a short stop over However.... Pictures on website rather misleading as there is not a lot of greener on the site. It’s like pitching in a stone quarry. Female warden couldn’t have been more helpful but male warden must have been having a bad day! Shower block needs a major upgrade. Not up to the standard we are familiar with from the CMC

Choice for walkers

Perfect spot for walkers, access to the wonderful Torridon hills and mountains, and Inverewe Gardens. Usual spot on club facilities and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, no problem with the COVID alterations, very simple and not difficult to live with. Have been 4 times now, we will be back. Thanks

Very Disappointed

A great location for this site but unfortunately it is little more than a lorry park. Very little in the way of grass areas it is covered in hardcore and seems very unkempt compared to other Club sites. This is not helped by the fact that the Wardens do not man the site for sufficient time, so on arrival guests are constantly driving around the site trying to find a pitch. Without doubt the worst Caravan and Motorhome Club site I have ever stopped on.

Fantastic quiet site - other than the unnecessary COVID restrictions

We really loved the area, and the site was very peaceful, quiet and clean. the staff were VERY friendly and are had great facilities. The walks up the hill behind the site was really picturesque. The ONLY gripe we had which was shared by the many other members we spoke to in the washroom queues was the ridiculous and unnecessarily over the top COVID restrictions to the washrooms. To be fair this was a central dictate and not owing to the staff locally. Over 50 percent of the cubicles (toilet, showers and basins) were taped off. And only 3 rubber bands were issued for only three masked users at a time. This was extremely frustrating, leaving members queuing in the rain (or otherwise) even though users had migrated from a toilet to a shower. This annoyed everyone we spoke to, and was the real let down of our stay. People also forgot to move rubber bands from the hook to the bucket, meaning we were waiting for spaces to become available, even though there may have been only one person in the facilities. Come on CAMC this needs an urgent review ! Other private sites just insist on mask wearing and social distancing (which everyone respects), instead of punishing their customers.

Stunning scenery

Well managed site in a stunning location. A very friendly welcome by Sharon. Ideal for getting away from the hustle and bustle. Great base for access to the North West Highlands for walking etc, including visits to the cost.

Quiet location

A quiet stopover on the NC500. Good for trekking on the nearby Munroe's and walking around the loch. A couple of excellent cafes nearby and a pub which serves fine ales. Disappointed with the site on a couple of matters with our pitch flooding in August and the lights in the ladies toilets not working fully. Good drying room and small shop a nice touch.

Highlands in October

Unfortunately we had horrendous weather and it rained nearly the whole 3 nights we were there! The site is 90% gravel but ideal for those weather conditions as we are in a 6m Motorhome and always like to have hardstanding! The facilities were clean and modern with an excellent drying room (would be great if all sites had one). The wardens had lots of information of surrounding walks which I think we'll be returning to follow at an earlier time in the year. There is a small petrol station and another small shop for basic stuff.

Great site

Stayed here mid Oct with family and dog Modern well run site with spotless toasty hot shower block, heated drying room for wet gear, washingmachines tumble dryer and a newly refurbished dish wash area Sited in village with pub and two good cafes and village shop Site is at junction of the single track roads along the Torridon valley and the road alon g Loch Maree. The site is surrounded by trees and a nature reserve About 50 pitches, all Hardstanding with about 40 with grass in between Nice greeting from staff on arrival and after asking for a sunny pitch with view's and grass i was directed to top right of the site.great pitch with a stream behind and views of Ben Eighe and Slioch and grass both sides for the wife and dog! I visit several times a year and if the weather is kind we love it

What am I missing?

I simply don’t recognise this site from the description or reviews. It is on a junction of 2 major roads next to houses and resembles are car park. Warden friendly and pleasant but knew little about the local area and seemed surprised I thought there might be deer locally and didn’t know where we might see them. The facilities are basic and the dishwashing area closed with no explanation. I cannot imagine how the photographs on this listing were achieved... .... unrecognisable. Gravel all over the site with no grass between pitches. Hideous. By far the worst CMC site we have stayed on. Almost cried after long drive to get her. 1 night only then off.
