Love2Stay Not again

Visited the site for the first time at the weekend. Such a shame that a brand new site built from scratch and by a caravan and motorhome specialist can get so much wrong. The site is very much aimed at families First observation was the signage and arrival place, when we arrived the pull in had two cars parked on the late night arrivals area so we pulled up, I walked to the reception (not much fun on a winters day or in a storm) checked in quick and friendly service but I didn't know you needed £5.00 cash for the access card, so had to walk back to motorhome to get some cash from hubby. A car and caravan had pulled up to barrier prior to check in so blocked the entrance, someone came behind them in a car and kindly opened the barrier only for them to drive in and park outside of reception blocking the road. The toilets are very nice and clean and new but who designed the showers and put the grid in the middle of the drying are? All weekend the floor outside the showers was flooded. Saturday morning I went for my shower no problem until I had finished, the one and only squeegee was broken so no way of cleaning the shower after use, also 5 people waiting for a shower when I came out. The café area is nice enough, we had a meal there Friday evening but I would imagine during the summer it would be bedlam with children in and out. The information sheet we were given said that children should be supervised after 10pm? What about the rest of the time, surely your children should be supervised at all time, we witnessed a young boy riding round the site on a go cart which is very dangerous as he was virtually lying on the ground, making it difficult for people to see him, also as he was riding the wrong way round the site. Putting the waste bins at the bottom of the hill opposite reception is also a strange choice, surely they could have put bins around site and paid someone to empty them? Doesn't seem a very disabled friendly site yes the doors open automatically and access is level but I watched a gentleman on sticks walking from his pitch to the facilities block and though that is not ideal The motorhome service point is again not thought out, why put covers over the drains that then have to be lifted off with your van positioned over them, surely an open steel grid system is so much easier and avoids the missing of the hole, I understand why old sites don't want to pay to convert but a new site should have planned this better For the price they are charging I would expect everything to be perfect, I'm afraid it is not, toilets out of order, sinks out of order, hooks missing from showers, Don't think we will be paying for this one again, loved Shrewsbury town centre so will be trying one of the Morris Leisure sites or the adults only site again

In our opinion, an amazing family friendly site!!

We stayed for 4 nights during the February 2019 half term and had an amazing time. The site has been so thoughtfully designed it made the stay so easy and relaxing, small grumble that ALL of the landfill and recycling bins are at the entrance but it made you be organised and keep taking small trips. The serviced pitches are fantastic and the space is a huge bonus, everything was very clean. The toilet cassette cleaning machine is great, dare I say a little bit expensive at £4 a clean, but if you use it early on you can then empty it down the black waste at the pitch's service point providing you have green chemicals to refill afterwards. The playground was very popular with the children. The pizza's were gorgeous and 2 pizza provided plenty of food for 2 adults and 2 children. There was a bit of a wait but that's to be expected when they are made by hand to order, worth the wait. All of the restaurant staff were very helpful and polite. Reception staff were equally polite even when there was a queue of people to deal with. Booking of activities was vague, everything is online which is a disappointment because when we are away we try to avoid going online for everything. Leaflets on arrival like the Spa treatments would have been helpful. The Hot Springs pool was great, who'd have thought you would be swimming outside in February - a refreshing change and the hot tubs were a welcome treat afterwards! Overall a fantastic site, yes a little bit expensive but very well designed with great facilities we will be staying again.

Overvaluing its status and service

This caravan site has excellent facilities comparable with the best of Caravan & Motorhome Club sites. The toilets & showers are spotless, excellent washing up & laundry rooms and waste disposal point. Minor criticism is that the water temperature in the showers could do with being a little bit higher. The hard standing caravan pitches are level & spacious with electric hook up, water point and grey waste drains. The grounds are immaculate & well maintained. There are a multitude of activities taking place, the majority of which are at additional cost. However there is an outdoor pool, hot tubs and a fabulous children's play area for which there is no charge. The reception is functional, but I agree with other reviewers the staff are not the most friendly & helpful I have met. The cafe & pizza parlour are functional and reasonably priced. The reason I have given an average rating is nothing to do with facilities, it is in my opinion, not value for money. We stayed for five nights during October half term with our three grandchildren who absolutely loved the place. However the cost - £42.00 per night!!! - we stayed in February half term for five nights at a cost of £25.00 per night. On enquiring why the huge increase in price I was told that it was because of the new "Hot Springs" feature. This was not open during our stay, so no justification whatsoever. Even allowing for "Hot Springs" that in itself cannot be justification for nearly a 70% price increase!!!!! Overall fabulous site but certainly overpriced compared to other similarly excellent sites we have stayed on.

Love Too, but please try harder ;)

Just returned from the Bank Holiday Weekend. Nightmare drive in, but fast processing on arrival. Usual gated access, possible delays on entry but all good for us. Nice pitch, usual debris from mucky campers, plastic bits n bobs, fag ends, and some steel pins, looked important? Nothing you can blame the site for. Grass cut short, pillar all ok. No TV point but on dog 6 we were high. Idea pitch, but guess exposed in poor weather. The hard standing seemed poor, not compact enough. Our steel pegs pulled out? After poor weather your outfit will be next door. So take super long pegs for this site. We were miles from the dog walk, not all dog pitches are handy to the walk, beats me why. Great kids stuff, seems a paddling pool/beach going in for little ones, else this more a close to or early teen site. Loads to do for them, but just too remote. The bio pool need wet or dry suits as its very cold. Card access everywhere, PITA. Site we laid out, good roads. Wash up ok but only 4 sinks, square, deep, dont drain fast and hard to clean, loos ok but ran out out loo roll and hand wash in the ladies HID says, only saw it cleaned once, showers ok but which numb nuts put the drain down the middle. Since the showers and loos are side by side, there is one loo that has shower water running into it? The basins all flash, but the auto taps dont always work and the flash plugs dont hold the water back. The showers also no touch and time out. cannot adjust temperature? The loos no touch, but you have to touch the handle to get out of the cubical. Dint think there was enough, I didn't queue, but I guess that due the full pillar/pitch set up many showered and loo'd in the van. The auto door opens so slowly you need to go to the loo before you go to the loo. The cafe OK and the Pizzas are good, a few porkies, 20mins wait become 60mins. They struggled to cope Friday night, all arrived late due traffic and thought the same thing. They did get a grip Saturday and Sunday. Loads to do, we got all the activities for free this weekend, but given the advised prices seem value for money. The £20/day charge for a family bathroom is taking the pee. We have stayed on other sites where this is a £5, and we had it for a week:) The Wardens and staff do patrol, and will put a stop to any wild Guitarists etc. I/we will return, but this place can be so much more, it would seem its been devised by someone who has never camped. Which odd as Salop Leisure own it, run and plug their business from it???? 7/10, when its should have been a 10. Don't open another without talking to someone who knows what Tourers want. There are better sites out there sad to say. Work to do guys.

Needs Tweaking

We have been staying at Salop Leisure yearly for quite a while now whilst our caravan is (Very well) serviced, but obviously this was our first time on the new site. It is a nice site with lots of amenities, many of them not to be found on other sites. The shower blocks are lovely with Dyson hairdryers and White Company toiletries. Since we were on a serviced pitch I only used the showers once. I agree with previous reviewers, the designers /installers ought to be hauled back to modify the drains. I do NOT want someone else's dirty water running under the partition into the shower I'm using. Quite apart from, as has been previously pointed out, the fact that it wets the dry area - If I'd left my shoes on the floor they would have floated away ! I do think that part of the problem is that reception staff aren't a visible presence on site. On a club site the wardens are always beetling about emptying the bins, cleaning communal areas and other tasks. Because all the bins are at the entrance this doesn't happen. I do think it makes a difference. We found the reception staff quite friendly and helpful by the way. Since this is an affiliated site I feel sure the club could be helpful in advising love2stay on site management. It is, overall, a very nice site. They are on a pretty steep learning curve, however.

Love2Stay - Happy to Leave!

Hmm! Seems we are one of the minority who didn’t love our stay here. Yes it’s definitely got lots of wonderful activities, gym, cafe, pool, hot tubs etc. But if you are going to build a new 5* site with so much attention to detail then you need to put the detail into the showers! They are a complete disaster area. The drain goes right across the “drying” area of the cubicle so there is nowhere dry to get dressed and when the person in the cubicle next to you is showering, their water is running across the floor into the supposedly dry area of your cubicle - you may as well just stand in a puddle and try to get dry. After 3 days of trying different shower cubicles I resorted to moving outside the cubicle to the communal area just to get dry and dressed. Yes, the shower gel, shampoo and Dyson hairdryers are a lovely touch but it will need more than that for me to return. I’d also agree with another reviewer that the welcome at reception was less than luke warm and we weren’t given any information about what activities were available- had to look it up on the website. You can’t buy a paper, milk or other basics without going down to the Salop leisure showroom at the bottom of the hill and after queuing to buy a paper for 5 minutes behind two people who were in the process of buying awnings I gave up! And this morning when we wanted to exchange our gas bottle we were told to go and have a coffee because the assistant was busy doing something and couldn’t deal with us! Coffee at Love Coffee was very good but we had to pay for it ourselves. Other gripes about the site are bins are at the bottom of the hill opposite reception and also the speed of traffic at the top of the hill coming on to the touring area was excessive. When informed about this the concierge said it would be difficult to put a speed hump in because of the caravans! Not sure I quite get that, plenty of other sites have them. There will need to be some serious tweaking to those shower cubicles to encourage a return visit from us.

Nice but unfinished, Bad showers

Site is new but looks like it will be lovely once they bushes and trees have grown. Play park looks fantastic (unfortunately my son is too old, so we didn't try it) Reception was helpful and polite. Cafe is small, basic and its also the pizzeria, staff could do with smiling occasionally. The toilet block is nice, clean and has plenty of cubicles but, and its a big but, the showers are awful, they must have been designed by someone who doesn't shower! the drain is in front of the door (where you dress) so no way to dry feet. The water from the cubicle next door also flows across the floor. They shower itself is automatic, so no temperature control (set at warm) and the room itself isn't overly warm. Pitches are big and fully serviced (which was great we don't usually use these) Site is a little expensive unless you're bringing several children and making the most of all the facilities (which includes public hot tubs, with strangers! Which you can all watch from reception, some were people were enjoying this) Some facilities are still being built so looks a bit building site at the moment. We won't be back, except maybe in 10 years, with 4 grandchildren.

Shiny & New

Everything appears new and the site has a holiday park feeling.. Not overly impressed with the reception on arrival, functional but not welcoming, they would benefit from visiting some of the club sites and learning from the wardens how to welcome a guest. The pitch is pre-allocated before arrival and was good, level and fully serviced. Facilities are outstanding and recreation activities planned throughout the stay. I read many reviews before we decided to come and try this site for ourselves. My biggest issue is justifying the cost, we are most definitely off season and at 25 pounds a night (including the generous 1 pound a night discount for C&MC members) do not consider it to have been value for money but paid out of curiosity. The add on fees for use of the many other facilities could easily result in a very expensive visit for a family. I cannot say I was blown away by my love2stay experience but I cannot really put my finger on why. We shall not be rushing back but at least we came and saw it first hand.
