PROPER JOB

We have just returned to Devon from a 4 night stay at Lucksall. We will be returning without a doubt. Beautiful clean site, stunning views, large pitches and extremely friendly staff. Downside? If anything maybe another shower/toilet block might be needed. We had no problems with the facilities at all - no waiting and plenty of hot water in the lovely showers - but in the height of the season with all pitches full we could imagine that there might be a bit of a struggle.

Senior Couple

I will start with a couple of negatives, we could only get a grass pitch which is a long way from the showers and toilets, our nearest wash room was way too small for the amount of pitches it was catering for, we had to walk down a tree lined path which was unlit and very creepy for those with a nervous disposition. The site itself is kept in an immaculate condition with beautiful mown grass and well kept flower beds, there are plenty trails for hikers and bikers the bar is well stocked and the menu is good and the prices reasonable. We would certainly stay here again if only to revisit Hereford but it would have to be much nearer the facilities and have a hard standing

Nice site with very large pitches

Just returned from 3 nights at Lucksall. Immaculate site and nice helpful wardens. The hardstanding pitches were very generous and you can easily park your car at the front of the caravan without encroaching on the access road. Great location for dog walks in the woods opposite the site. Can recommend The Bunch of Carrots for carvery (even though we're not a lover of carvery usually the meat was very succulent and tasty) but I wouldn't bother with the Moon. Would be good if the information on all the local walks at the reception were free but never the less the warden was happy to explain a couple of them to me. Also agree with other reviews that the only place that wifi was available was up by reception and it wasnt the speediest either.  I needed to use it so resulted in me sat on the bench outside the reception which was a bit annoying as one of the reasons we did pick this site is that I required wifi access. All in all though good site and would happily go back and explore more of the Wye valley.

Relaxing by the River

What can I add, I agree with all said. Great site stayed 7 nights, hardstanding pitch by the river, caravan facing the river, nothing better than lying in bed and watching the water flow by. Loads of room around the van for awning and table and chairs outside + one large dog. Excellent walks for the dog off site across fields and the woods across the road. Had a great meal at 'The Green Man' Fownhope, local beef. The 'Moon' at Mordiford is also good as too the 'Bunch of Carrots'. I didn't use the one site Café (too many chips!) The site is cared for and all staff most helpful, thank you

Well kept site - but not the best.

We stayed for 4 nights late October 16. The site is immaculately kept by the ground staff - a great credit to them. The site facilities shows 'internet' however this is only available at the reception - the static homes near the reception may get it but no one on the hard standings will - this would have been very disappointing had the weather been bad. The site description does not explain this. If you are a light sleeper you will be bothered by the road noise which is continual about 20 hours per day. The site info states you can pick your pitch - we were given one someway from the toilet blocks when many others were empty much closer to the toilet. There is only one dumping place for rubbish / recycling - if you haven't got a bicycle etc. be pre-paired for a good walk. The site info also states 'FREE' walking guides at reception - did not find any of these and all info seamed chargeable. The road outside the site is very busy - cars speed far to fast be prepared if you are heading for the woods opposite - as we were nearly hit by a bus going far to fast as we passed the garden wall outside the site. The location to the river, Hereford, symonds yat, Monmoth and the Wye valley is great.

On our way home

We decided to visit Lucksall on our way home from Cornwall and because it had excellent write ups. To be honest we were a little disappointed in it but only because it isn't really out sort of site. It was by a very busy B road which was very noisy being higher than the campsite. Now weve been to Strathclyde which is by 2 motorways but we found the noise at Lucksall more intrusive than Strathclye. The site is large but has various drives so that no one feels that they are in such a huge site. However for we had to pay for the dogs which we didn't mind so long as there are facilities for the dogs and sadly there were none. There was nowhere on site where the dogs could run free or even just off site. To get to the forest one had to walk along the busy B road quite some distance and cross it. So far as I could see there was no pavement so a dangerous road to cross for the less than fit. The children's play area was very small and I don't believe the site is ideal for smaller children. The bus stop is right outside the campsite for those wishing to catch a bus into Hereford. I am sure that many people find this site ideal but sadly for us its location was a disappointment and the noise from the B road certainly disturbed us until quite late and from early in the morning being the main route between Ross on Wye and Hereford.

Fantastic site

The best club site we have ever been to. Staff welcoming helpful and friendly, they greet you as you park in the reception area and direct you to your pitch. We found ourselves a bit far from the facilities so asked for a closer pitch. No problem at all. The shower blocks, of which there are three, are immaculate and we never had to wait even though the site was busy. We tried the cafe and the food was more than acceptable albeit a limited menu. They were also dog friendly which was wonderful. My only complaint - they could only accept cash even though the reception accepted cards so I assume they are run as a separate business. Great location on the Wye, lovely dog walk. For us the perfect campsite.

What a great site

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Lucksall Caravan & Camping Park. I can honestly say this is one of the best sites we have ever stayed at, the staff are so friendly and the facilities and pitches are lovely the pitches being large and flat. The River Wye runs along the site and is great for fishing. The Café looks onto the river and is lovely and clean the food is good and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back again and cannot recommend it enough.

easyly the best site we have stayed on

in twenty five years of caravaning this is the finest most beautiful site we have stayed on its only seven miles from Hereford but that said it is a little isolated so you have to use your transport but the countryside around is very pretty and i have never seen so many apples being grown.be prepared for the influx of children on a Friday its probably best to avoid pitches near the play area on weekends unless you have children .we will definitely be back.

Wow what a find

We stayed on this affiliated site for 2 days this week, booked at the last minute on the way home and so glad we did. Beautiful site immaculate landscape very well planned with hedges and flower beds breaking up the site and so well kept. the staff were all very friendly and helpful couldn't do enough!. We had a pitch right by the river and enjoyed the company of the ducks throughout, there are 3 toilet/shower blocks all spotless whatever time of the day you visit them. There was free wifi and the shop and café/bar are very handy. The only negative is having to keep your dog on a short lead even on the dog walk which I feel is a bit over the top however there are woods opposite and walks along both banks of the river to walk dogs freely so this wasn't really an issue. This is a site we would like to return to and stay longer on even though it was a little more expensive than others weve stayed at this holiday.
