Great site but poor facilities.

When I arrived here I really really wanted to rate this as a five star site. The site itself is very pretty and beautifully kept with plenty of open space and located on the east bank of the river Wye. There is a great cafe overlooking the river and a useful shop. The bus stop to Hereford is just outside the site entrance. However, my reservations are all concerned with the facilities available. Although the site was nowhere near full there were sometimes queues forming to use the showers and toilets. I dread to think what it would be like if there were many more campers with no access to onboard facilities. In the shower blocks the floors were often saturated due to inadequate drainage. In the showers there are no volume or temperature controls, just a push button that gives a few seconds of preset flow and the flow itself in the different showers varied from rather pathetic to imitation fire hose. I feel that this site just tolerates dogs rather than catering for them. Dogs must be kept on short leads on the whole site. There is just a narrow path to exercise them on, with no facility to let them have a runaround or play chase-the-ball. My dog was quite miserable here. If you are a fan of Neighbours then you need a satellite system as normal reception is poor with the BBC virtually unwatchable, and there is no signal booster system. As a single person I found the cost per night quite expensive, compared with the normal CC sites that I normally go to that have much better facilities. With better facilities this would a fantastic site to visit. Let’s hope the owners realise this is the 21st century and caravaners deserve better.

Beautiful setting, great site and cafe

We stayed here last week for one night and it is lovely, overlooking the river just in front of you on hard standing great pitches. There is an excellent cafe on site where the food is very good as is the wine. We will definitely be back to try out the pontoons with our kayak on the River Wyre. Didn't try the showers so cannot comment. Immaculate site and pleasant wardens.

A favourite of ours

We found this site last year by chance, when we first joined the Caravan Club. Having been extremely impressed with the Site, Location, Cleanliness & Well Management set up, we always look forward to returning. We prefer the River side pitches, and closeby the Café/Bar area, that serves great food and a wide variety of bottled drinks. TV signal can be a bit hit and miss but that doesn't bother us, we enjoy the tranquillity of the Site.

Hidden beauty

What a site. We have just stayed for a week on this site and were really impressed with the facilities and beautiful grounds. Nothing was to much trouble for any member of staff. Dad was even taken to the local medical centre for his appointments. We had trouble finding a reception for the television but that too was sorted with no issues. Staff were all friendly and we felt part of the surroundings. We have know booked up to return in July and looking forward to it. The take away meals from the cafe on site was delicious and good value for money. Roll on July.

Stunning

We have just come back from a two night stay at th.is beautiful site. We happened upon it by chance whilst looking to walk by the river and it made a great impression straight away. It looked perfect in a beautiful setting, the caravan pitches are wide and well marked out. The trees and shrubs all well tended and the facilities spotless , we knew we would have to stay on holiday a bit longer to stay here, so when our holiday at another site finished we booked two nights and had a pitch right on the riverside overlooking the River Wye. There is a dog walk on site, but there are plenty of other places too to walk your dog/s. We are definately going to return next Spring for a longer stay and we can't wait.

A Jewel

We dropped in here by chance on a last minute booking. It is excellently situated, immaculately kept and great for dog owners - a wonderful walk through the 200 acre wood footpath was a mass of bluebells, butterflies and too many wildflowers for me to name. The riverside walks are good too. Site management young, friendly and helpful - and a great addition to have an on site relaxed restaurant that served good quality bar style food. Recommend it.

Immaculate

We spent three nights on this immaculate sight. Everyone one of the staff helpful and friendly. A beautiful location with some pitches on the banks of the river Wye. Facilities were faultless. Large field and play area for children and three separate toilet blocks. Some pitches away from the play area so if you don't like noise make sure you book one of those. Choice of grass or hard standing. This really was one of the nicest and best kept sites we have ever stayed at. Close to Hereford for shopping and good food. We will return.

Best site yet

Stayed at Lucksall for Easter, where do we start? The staff were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble, escorted to the pitch by a warden on a bike and then proceeded to guide us on....fabulous! Cafe had good food and a good choice of ciders! The chicken curry was excellent and good value. Site was clean and tidy. Will definitely be back.

Fabulous Easter Break

We spent our Easter Break at Lucksall, arriving lunch time on Good Friday. We were met on the driveway by staff, who directed us to our pitch - hardstanding with ehu. Perfectly located, not too close to toilet blocks, but close enough when you need to go in the night! Facilities were immaculate, with signage encouraging visitors to maintain the standards. Staff were exceptionally helpful, and very apologetic when the wifi wasn't up to standard (due to the site being full to the rafters). Such a lovely location, right by the river, with a fabulous cafeteria, serving hot/cold food, great value for money, overlooking the riverside and dogs were made very welcome, bonus! I'd recommend this site to anyone looking for peace & quiet (apart from the early morning cockerel!) and wanting chill out time, the wonderful woodland across the road was a great walk with the dog. We will definitely be returning later in the year.
