We have found our go to site for exploring the Lake District. The wonderful staff, the views, the dog walk and the peace and quiet makes this a perfect place to relax and then set off for the day, to see whichever lake or village you fancy.
Tasha and the Alfresco van - just yummy chips, stonebaked pizzas and burgers.
Immaculate facilities and a beautiful view we can't wait to go back. Very friendly and helpful staff x
Great views from site
Spent 5 nights at Meathop and it's a wonderful site. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The small field for dogs and the agility space are great for dog owners and their pets. Clean well maintained facilities. Food truck on site an excellent addition when you want to stay put. Lots to do in the area. Lovely pubs dotted around. Fantastic views on a sunny morning from our pitch (41). A great place to relax and recharge your batteries, or spend time exploring the area.
Perfect
We’ve just had 8 nights at Meathop. The site is looking immaculate, grounds are also immaculate, considering the time of year too!
We’ve visited Meathop many times over 30 years of caravaning, each visited there’s a little surprise, be it extending and tidying up moss on pitches, bulbs and shrubs being planted etc.
Shower block immaculate too! Five stars from The Cardwell’s!

one of our favourite sites
Our second stay at Meathop in the last 3months. Just four nights this time around. Friendly welcome, very clean facilities. There are a nice mix of pitches across varied areas across the site, we like the location but it was a shame local flooding caused the closure of the easy route into Grange. We'll be back. thankyou.
Great for dogs
We stayed two nights in November. The site is well located for exploring the Lake District, As with all caravan club sites the standard of facilities was very good. What we appreciated the most was the areas for dogs. We have recently rehomed two Jack Russells which require training for recall. We’ve not been able to let them off the lead. It was lovely to see them racing around the fully enclosed field and they enjoyed the doggy assault course too. These areas weren’t busy during our stay but suspect they would be busy during peak season. We would highly recommend this site and are intending to return in the spring.
Great base for the South Lakes
We spent three days in November at this site. It's a great base for accessing the South Lakes just a couple of miles from Grange over Sands with Lake Windermere just a short distance away. There were no problems with access - we managed to get our 8m twin-axle van onto site without any problems - do your research - there are a couple of tight bends and a short ramp on the access road before entering site, but these shouldn't cause any issues. We chose a serviced pitch which was reasonably level and very well kept. Great views across Morecambe Bay from the site. Facilities were great - very well maintained toilet/shower block and the onsite pizza/burger van was a welcome addition. The Woodlands Hotel which is on the adjacent lodge park is just a short stroll from the site and serves good food and a cold pint! We'll be back
Love this site
Visited quite a few times since lockdown. Love it! So relaxing! One of our favourite sites and can not fault it at all. Always a helpful, friendly welcome. Great pitches, nicely landscaped and mainly flat. Always spotlessly clean. Nice walks from the site. Not far from Grange Over Sands village, down Meathop Road past nearby golf course. We still need to try the on site Pizza! Very short walk around the corner to the beautiful Woodlands Hotel, where we book ourselves in for a fabulous evening meal there on each visit. Looking forward to our next visit to this site again very soon.
Faultless site
If you haven't visited Meathop Fell, please don't deny yourself. It's a fantastic site. Spotlessly clean facilities, very helpful, friendly staff. As well as a little takeaway caravan on site. Beautiful tranquil scenery and a great wee secured dog walking field.
Great site just spoilt by the little things.
Lovely site, great location unfortunately not up to the usual caravan and motorhome club standards.
Firstly there is no security barrier on the entrance and exit to the site.
Secondly you require a key to use the toilet and shower facilities on site (only one key per caravan).
It seems that the club regard the security of their toilet rolls more important than the security of their members caravans.
Come on Caravan Club get your priorities right, it's the little things that make the difference.
I enjoyed my stay here and I'm sure to return.
Beautiful site
Beautiful site, within easy reach of South, west and North Lake District. Grange over Sands is just 3 miles away and a lovely walk. We were very lucky with the weather during our stay, until the end, however we managed to stay an extra night with no trouble at all. Wardens friendly and quick to respond. Even recommended possible pitches when we arrived. Would recommend the pitches next to the tropical gardens (opposite reception) if your outfit is 6.5 metres or under. Some lovely pitches also just past the holiday cottages. Will certainly recommend and visit again if we visit this area again.
